As expected, MarShon Brooks will play in his first preseason game on Thursday after being sidelined by foot tendinitis.

Brooks is either a bust or a sleeper depending on who you listen to, but with guys like Joe Johnson and Gerald Wallace manning the wings, he may have a tough time seeing enough minutes to make a fantasy difference. And his foot injury isn't helping his potential value, either.

Brooks has been dealing with foot tendinitis and the earliest he was expected to play was on Thursday, so it's encouraging to hear that he's a game-time call rather than being ruled out entirely. The Nets will be cautious with Brooks, so if he's not completely ready, there's really no reason to rush him.

Last season Brooks sprained his left ankle and fractured a toe in his right foot, but this tendinitis doesn't sound serious and there's no reason to think he's injury-prone. He has embraced a sixth-man role for the Nets, and makes for an intriguing fantasy pick in the final rounds.

Brooks' adding some weight to his frame will only help him sustain over the course of an 82-game season, and that will be big for him as he is being relied upon to serve as the sixth man for the upcoming campaign.

Brooks has been treading water lately, averaging less than 10ppg over his last five. However, he had it going tonight and hopefully, he'll continue the run. He got a little extra run tonight, getting over the 30 minute mark for just the second time in nine games. If he continues to hit his shots, he should get that kind of burn nightly.
