Fri Apr 18 201415:00Brandon Lloyd gets no guaranteed money
Brandon Lloyd's one-year deal with the 49ers includes no guaranteed money.
He can earn a $50,000 workout bonus and has a scheduled $955,000 base salary, which would come directly off San Francisco's books were Lloyd released before Week 1. At age 33 and having been out of football for an entire year, Lloyd is probably a long shot for a 2014 roster spot. His odds would grow even longer if the 49ers used an early-round pick on a vertical wide receiver.

Tue Apr 15 201413:1849ers do one-year deal with WR Brandon Lloyd
49ers signed WR Brandon Lloyd to a one-year contract.
Lloyd's name surfaced again last week after he hadn't been in the news since September. He was released by the Patriots in a salary-slashing move last offseason and spent the 2013 season on the street. The soon-to-be 33-year-old was described as a bit of a locker-room lawyer in New England then went on to "star" in a direct-to-DVD zombie movie during his time away from the game. Lloyd will compete for a roster spot behind Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin.

Sun Sep 22 201311:20Report: Patriots considering Lloyd, Branch
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Tom Brady has been "calling and texting" free agents Brandon Lloyd and Deion Branch "gauging their availability."
We're assuming Brady is doing so on behalf of Patriots management. Per Rapsheet, Branch has told Brady he's "ready whenever," but that Lloyd wants to finish shooting his zombie movie before a potential return. In case you hadn't heard, Lloyd is starring in a direct-to-DVD affair with Daniel Baldwin called "After Effect." Lloyd likely has more left in the tank than Branch, but was a fading player last season and a locker-room lawyer. The fact that he's back on the Patriots' radar speaks to their lack of faith in their rookie wideouts.

Tue Sep 17 201308:25Brandon Lloyd starring in new zombie movie
Free agent WR Brandon Lloyd stars in an upcoming zombie movie called "After Effect."
Maybe now we know why Lloyd has rejected inquiries from at least six NFL teams, including the desperate Patriots. He landed a role in this direct-to-DVD movie as Sargent Chuck Lloyd. The movie stars Daniel Baldwin. Lloyd is just 32 years old and posted a 70/966/5 line last year, but he appears done with the NFL.

Wed Sep 11 201313:39Report: Brandon Lloyd has rejected inquiries
Profootballtalk reports free agent Brandon Lloyd has rejected inquiries from at least six teams about playing in 2013.
The Patriots, 49ers, and Jets are three of the six reported teams that have reached out to Lloyd. The 32-year-old apparently has no interest in playing, saying that he's neither physically or mentally ready to continue his career.

Sat Sep 7 201309:41Report: Brandon Lloyd doesn't intend to play
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports free agent Brandon Lloyd "does not intend to play football."
Lloyd, 32, appears to be hanging up the cleats. He didn't receive an ounce of interest after being released by the Patriots on March 16. If this is it for Lloyd, he finishes his career with 385 catches for 5,695 yards and 35 touchdowns. He played for six different teams in ten seasons, making one Pro Bowl.

Sun Jul 28 201317:15Eagles won't be signing Brandon Lloyd
Eagles GM Howie Roseman indicated Philly will stay in-house to replace Jeremy Maclin (ACL surgery).
At 32 years old, a free agent like Brandon Lloyd would merely be a short-term fix for a team without realistic postseason aspirations. They're going to turn to the young players already on the 90-man roster. "You look at the good teams in this league, that's what they do with their players," said Roseman. "They develop them, they groom them, then they give them an opportunity."

Mon Jul 1 201308:57Pats unlikely to reunite with Brandon Lloyd
ESPN Boston believes the Patriots' March release of Brandon Lloyd was mostly about money, but doesn't consider a reunion likely.
Circumstances have changed dramatically since Lloyd was cut loose, but he was rumored to be a poor fit for coach Bill Belichick's locker room. Four days shy of his 32nd birthday, Lloyd also declined as a player last season, struggling mightily to gain yards after the catch. Tom Brady's stable of pass catchers is in disarray, but it's unlikely Lloyd is viewed as a potential solution.

Sat Jun 15 201316:33Ravens not planning to target a veteran WR
The Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens have no plans to pursue a veteran receiver "at this time."
Baltimore is prepared to enter training camp with Jacoby Jones as the No. 2 opposite Torrey Smith, while youngsters Deonte Thompson, LaQuan Williams, Tommy Streeter, Tandon Doss, and David Reed try to push Jones for the spot. Brandon Lloyd and Austin Collie "highlight" the free-agent group. Collie has started to get some play, but Lloyd hasn't generated any interest.

Thu Jun 6 201311:02Report: Jets have no interest in WR Lloyd
Sources tell the New York Post that the Jets have shown no interest in free agent WR Brandon Lloyd.
Santonio Holmes (foot) and Stephen Hill (knee) are both banged up. If this were the regular season, the Jets would be forced to look at a veteran wideout like Lloyd -- who came in seventh on Evan Silva's top free agents remaining list. Jeremy Kerley, Clyde Gates and Ben Obomanu are the only healthy receivers on the Jets' roster right now.

Wed May 8 201321:37Jets interested in Brandon Lloyd?
ESPN New York reports "here have been rumors about possible interest" from the Jets in free agent Brandon Lloyd.
The Jets are looking for an experienced receiver, and they have been linked to Ramses Barden, Josh Cribbs, and Braylon Edwards. Lloyd, 32 in July, hasn't generated an ounce of interest since being released by the Patriots nearly two months ago, but he's clearly the best receiver of the four. He'd be solid veteran insurance should Santonio Holmes not bounce back from his foot injury.

Tue May 7 201310:43All crickets on Brandon Lloyd so far
ESPN's John Clayton "would be surprised" if free agent WR Brandon Lloyd doesn't have a job in the next week or two.
We're not so sure. Lloyd, who will turn 32 in July, hasn't generated a flicker of interest since the Patriots cut him on March 16. There's a ton of stink attached to his resume after playing for six different teams in 10 seasons, and he reportedly irked some people inside the Pats with his offbeat personality. Moreover, Lloyd can't make anyone miss after the catch and no longer can stretch the field.

Wed Apr 10 201314:36Lloyd very unlikely to return to Patriots
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport would be "beyond shocked" if free agent Brandon Lloyd re-signed with the Patriots.
So would the Boston Globe's Greg A. Bedard. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported in early March that Lloyd would be amenable to return to the Pats at a reduced salary, but the interest isn't mutual after Lloyd underproduced on the field last season and was a locker-room lawyer off of it. Lloyd hasn't drawn a whiff of interest since being cut loose on March 16.

Sun Mar 17 201314:10Vikings have not shown interest in Lloyd
The Vikings have not expressed interest in free agent Brandon Lloyd since his Saturday release.
A Vikings-Lloyd union makes some sense on paper, but GM Rick Spielman may be wary of Lloyd's manic behavior having a negative effect on Christian Ponder. The Vikings are set at two receiver spots with Greg Jennings outside and Jarius Wright in the slot. They may look to upgrade on Jerome Simpson in April's draft.

Sat Mar 16 201310:18Brandon Lloyd "50-50" to re-sign with Pats
CSNNE.com's Tom Curran reported Brandon Lloyd's chances of being with the Patriots after today are "50-50."
The Patriots owe Lloyd a $3 million roster bonus that twill almost certainly not be picked up, but the possibility remains for New England to work out a restructured contract with him. New England is also considering signing Steelers restricted free agent, Emmanuel Sanders.

Fri Mar 15 201312:14Brandon Lloyd willing to take pay cut
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on SportsCenter Friday that Brandon Lloyd is willing to return to the Patriots on a reduced contract.
Lloyd has a $3 million bonus due Saturday. "They signed Donald Jones, they have Emmanuel Sanders (at club headquarters), and they've gotta make a decision on Brandon Lloyd," Schefter explained. "He's got a $3 million roster bonus. Brandon Lloyd would like to work out a restructured deal. And the two sides, it is my understanding, have spoken about that. Brandon Lloyd could end up staying on in New England at some type of reduced deal."
