Sun Dec 9 201212:04Michael Turner active for Week 14
Michael Turner (elbow) is active for Week 14 against the Panthers.
LCB Asante Samuel (shoulder) is also active despite being listed as questionable and failing to practice all week. The Falcons' big blow is at safety, where SS William Moore will miss Sunday's game due to a hamstring injury. Atlanta's Week 14 inactives, in addition to Moore, are QB Dominique Davis, WR Tim Toone, OT OG Phillip Manley, G Harland Gunn, DE Lawrence Sidbury, and DT Travian Robertson.

Sun Dec 9 201208:41Turner (elbow) will play on Sun. for Falcons
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Saturday that Michael Turner (elbow, questionable) will play versus the Panthers this week.
Turner put in a full slate of limited practices this week, so it's no surprise that he's going to be out there. Although he's played less than 40 percent of the snaps in each of the past two weeks, Turner has kept his flickering light of fantasy value burning by finding the end zone in three straight games. Jacquizz Rodgers' role should do nothing but increase as Atlanta moves forward. Turner is Rotoworld's No. 30 running back for Week 14.

Fri Dec 7 201214:54Michael Turner listed as questionable
Michael Turner (elbow) was limited in Falcons practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 14 against the Panthers.
Turner sported a wrap on his left elbow in practices all week. There is some speculation that the Falcons could use his "injury" as an excuse to decrease Turner's role moving forward. He'll be a very dicey Week 14 flex play.

Thu Dec 6 201218:22Michael Turner sporting a wrap on elbow
Michael Turner has been sporting a wrap on his left elbow in limited practices this week.
Although coach Mike Smith expects Turner to play against the Panthers, the Associated Press believes the Falcons could use the injury as an excuse to further increase Jacquizz Rodgers' role. Quizz and Turner have been splitting snaps equally over the past three weeks. We remain skeptical that Rodgers will see more than 12-14 touches at Carolina.

Thu Dec 6 201215:52Michael Turner limited again on Thursday
Michael Turner (elbow) was limited again in Thursday's practice.
Turner will be fine for Sunday's game at Carolina. Although his best fantasy output of the season came in his previous matchup with the Panthers, he's been held to 3.1 YPC or below in five of the eight games since. Rotoworld ranks Turner No. 30 among running backs for Week 14.

Wed Dec 5 201215:40Michael Turner limited on Wednesday
Michael Turner (elbow) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
The Falcons have taken to limiting Turner's practice reps of late, but he's in no danger of missing Sunday's game against the Panthers. He'll be a low-end RB2/flex option for the first week of the fantasy playoffs, and will need to score a touchdown to have any real value.

Fri Nov 30 201200:03Turner burns Saints on opening drive for TD
Michael Turner rushed 12 times for 83 yards and a touchdown in Thursday night's Week 13 victory over the Saints.
Turner and the run game crammed the football right down New Orleans' throats on the game's opening drive, as he and Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 71 yards and Turner's three-yard score on just five carries. After that though, there just wasn't much else going on for the Atlanta offense. Turner rushed for just 12 yards on five carries after halftime. He has found pay dirt in three consecutive games thanks to a failing red zone pass offense. Turner will take on Carolina's bottom-10 fantasy run defense in Week 14.

Wed Nov 28 201210:12Falcons like the idea of a committee
Coach Mike Smith confirmed he now likes using his running backs in a committee.
At this point, we can expect the snap count between Michael Turner and Jacquizz Rodgers to be close to even on a weekly basis. Turner's sluggish running is holding the Falcons' up-tempo scheme hostage. At this point, his only value to fantasy owners is as a goal-line back. "We feel like Jacquizz is a very viable option to carry the football and has done a nice job for us," Smith said. "It has become more of the vogue thing to do, to have a running back by committee."

Sun Nov 25 201217:27Turner held to 30 total yards, TD in Week 12
Michael Turner was held to 17 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, adding 13 yards on three receptions at Tampa Bay in Week 12.
Leary of becoming one-dimensional after last week's five-interception game by Matt Ryan, the Falcons game-planned to establish Turner and a ground attack against the league's top run defense. The plan was quickly scrapped when it failed due to a lack of any semblance of burst that has been evident from Turner since late last season. A far more effective Jaquizz Rodgers reached double-digit carries for just the second time this season. Turner salvaged his day with a two-yard touchdown, but we're long past the point of trusting him in fantasy leagues. Despite a few long runs when the defense was paying attention to the passing game, Turner is averaging just 3.5 YPC heading into a Week 13 rematch with a Saints defense that shut him down in Week 10.

Fri Nov 23 201214:38Turner practices fully, listed as probable
Michael Turner (groin) returned to a full practice on Friday and is listed as probable for Week 12.
Turner will be active for Week 12 against the Bucs' No. 1 run defense. The matchup is difficult and the Falcons have been making an effort to decrease a struggling Turner's role. He'll be a roll-of-the-dice flex play this week.

Wed Nov 21 201217:54Michael Turner limited on Wednesday
Michael Turner (groin) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
There's really nothing to see here. Turner was limited all last week before playing. He faces a very tough matchup in Week 12 against a Bucs defense that currently ranks No. 1 against the run.

Sun Nov 18 201216:23Turner saves fantasy day with goal-line score
Michael Turner rushed 15 times for 46 yards and a touchdown as the Falcons defeated Arizona in Week 11.
Turner was completely ineffective on the ground, rendering Atlanta's offense one-dimensional. Although pre-game reports suggested Turner's role would be scaled back in favor of more Quizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling, the backups combined for just six carries. Turner is running so poorly at this point that his week-to-week fantasy productivity is almost wholly dependent on goal-line scores. The Falcons face the Bucs' league-best run defense in Week 12.

Sun Nov 18 201212:55Falcons may scale back Michael Turner's role
Michael Turner (groin) is active for Week 11, but ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Turner's role may be scaled back against the Cardinals.
Due to the groin injury and Turner's recent ineffectiveness, Mort reported on Sunday Countdown that Jason Snelling and Jacquizz Rodgers may both receive bigger portions of the running back pie. Turner remains the best bet of the group for goal-line carries, but this backfield is fast developing into a fantasy quagmire. We'll learn a little bit more about the new roles today.

Fri Nov 16 201216:51Michael Turner limited in Friday's practice
Michael Turner (groin, questionable) was limited in Friday's practice.
The Falcons are keen on listing guys as "limited/questionable," but their players often play through those tags. Fantasy owners can use Turner's groin injury as a tiebreaker to sit him, though, if they have a flex option who offers more fantasy upside. Turner has had groin problems for two years now.

Thu Nov 15 201217:06Michael Turner limited again on Thursday
Michael Turner (groin) was limited again in Thursday's practice.
Turner has a history of groin injuries, so it's a situation to monitor. For Week 11, though, he's not believed to be in any danger of sitting out. Turner has a fine matchup against a reeling Cardinals run defense likely to be without Calais Campbell (calf), but he's hard to trust in fantasy leagues after laying an egg versus the NFL's softest defense.

Wed Nov 14 201219:45Turner limited in Wednesday's practice
Michael Turner was limited in Wednesday's practice.
It's Turner's first appearance on the injury report this season, but he wasn't known to be hurt in Sunday's loss. His status will be worth double-checking on Thursday, but he should be fine for Week 11. At least physically, that is. Owners should expect another dismal day production-wise.

Tue Nov 13 201219:53Falcons OC Koetter defends Michael Turner
Falcons OC Dirk Koetter defended Michael Turner's 13-carry, 15-yard Week 10 performance on Tuesday, saying Turner "had no chance" because the Falcons were facing "free runners at the point of attack."
The blame game for the Falcons' failed rushing attack is escalating, but it's hard to see how it's anyone's fault but Turner's, even if his offensive line hasn't been paving exceptionally big running lanes. Turner simply has no burst left, and immediately runs out of gas when he does somehow manage to make it past the first line of defense. Jacquizz Rodgers is a flawed runner, as well, but it's hard to see the Falcons not being forced to expand his role down the stretch.

Mon Nov 12 201213:29Michael Turner not executing at goal line
Michael Turner has received 17 goal-to-go carries this season, and executed for a touchdown on just three of them.
King of the annual late-season fade, Turner bottomed out with 15 scoreless yards on 13 carries in Week 10 against the NFL's worst run defense at New Orleans. Lacking any hint of burst, Turner was repeatedly stuffed on short-yardage plays. The Falcons figure to continue to start Turner, but he will remain a fantasy liability and is likely to get worse rather than better down the stretch.

Sun Nov 11 201217:13Turner fails in shortage, manages 15 yards
Michael Turner managed just 15 yards on 13 carries at New Orleans in Week 10.
Facing the league's worst defense, Turner was stopped for no gain or negative yards on more than half of his carries. He was thrown for a loss on a pair of key 3rd-and-1 plays and failed to convert the touchdown on three separate drives inside the 1-yard line, including the potential game-winner with under two minutes remaining. An alleged power back, Turner no longer has the leg drive to succeed unless he's given an extra-wide lane to hit a big play or two each game. If the Falcons are serious about contending, Turner's playing time will have to be scaled back in favor of Jacquizz Rodgers in space and Jason Snelling between the tackles.
