Wed Dec 4 201318:40Jose Calderon is a game-time decision
Jose Calderon (ankle) is a game-time decision to face the Pelicans on Wednesday.
He was a game-time call on Tuesday and was able to play and said he felt good after the game. Calderon should be able to play, but it wouldn't be a total shock to see him sit out. He didn't have a great game on Tuesday with 12 points and one assist, so it's not too bad of an idea to bench him in favor of a safer play.

Wed Dec 4 201310:45Jose Calderon (ankle) uncertain to play Wed.
Jose Calderon (ankle) limped out of the arena on Tuesday and his status vs. the Pelicans on Wednesday is uncertain.
"It was good," Calderon said of his ankle. "I don't know what it's going to be in a few hours, but it's OK." Owners should stay tuned for updates following the Mavs' shootaround.

Tue Dec 3 201323:53Jose Calderon scores 12 in return to action
Jose Calderon hit 4-of-10 shots (all 3-pointers) for 12 points, but had just one rebound and one assist in his return from a sprained ankle on Tuesday.
The good news is that he played through the injury, although he said after the game that his ankle is still sore. We'll chalk the off night up to the injury, but also expect him to continue to play through it. He should get better as the ankle heals, so don't read too much into this line.

Tue Dec 3 201320:05Jose Calderon listed as active Tuesday
Jose Calderon is listed as active on Tuesday against the Bobcats.
This doesn't really mean much and the Mavericks could still hold him out of the lineup. Gal Mekel would get the start, but Monta Ellis would do majority of the ball handling.

Tue Dec 3 201311:34Jose Calderon (ankle) game-time decision Tues
Jose Calderon (ankle) will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against the Bobcats.
Calderon missed Saturday's game against Minnesota and looks to be in danger of missing his second straight game on Tuesday. If the Spaniard is unable to suit up, Gal Mekel and Shane Larkin would see a bump in minutes, but neither are worth a look in anything but the deepest of leagues. If anything, Calderon's absence would likely mean a stuffed stat sheet from Monta Ellis.

Mon Dec 2 201313:43Jose Calderon (ankle) game-time for Tuesday
Jose Calderon (bruised right ankle) will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.
Gal Mekel started at PG in his absence this weekend, handing out seven assists while shooting 3-of-12 from the field. Shane Larkin only had one assist in 17 minutes off the bench while Monta Ellis (26 points, six rebounds, six assists) assumed more playmaking duties. With luck we'll get a definitive update after the Mavs' shootaround.

Sat Nov 30 201320:22Jose Calderon won't play, Gal Mekel starts
Jose Calderon (ankle) will not play against the Wolves on Saturday.
Gal Mekel will get the start and Shane Larkin will also see more minutes. Monta Ellis will also slide over to the point guard and the Mavs will use many different combinations to replace the loss of Jose. If you're looking to make an add in a deep league, Larkin seems like the guy to get in deep leagues. Although, that's assume guys like Vince Carter are already owned.

Sat Nov 30 201318:56Jose Calderon questionable w/ bruised ankle
Jose Calderon has a bone bruise in his right ankle but he hasn't been ruled out for Saturday's game vs. the Wolves.
If he can't suit up, expect either Gal Mekel or Shane Larkin to start at PG for Dallas. Monta Ellis will also get more playmaking duties, but he's been slightly banged up lately and Rick Carlisle suggested that "playing [Ellis] too much at point is not a good thing."

Fri Nov 29 201322:32Jose Calderon's ankle is heavily wrapped
Jose Calderon's right ankle was heavily wrapped following Friday's game against the Hawks.
He could barely put any weight on his ankle, but Calderon said if everything comes back clean, he will try to play against the Wolves on Saturday. Considering how frequently he's hurt, it's hard to believe the Mavericks will have him for the home game. Monta Ellis did most of the work at point guard while Shane Larkin and Gal Mekel also helped pick up the slack.

Fri Nov 29 201321:20Calderon leaves game with ankle injury
Jose Calderon left Friday's game in the second half due to a right ankle injury and did not return.
Shane Larkin has been a topic of conversation for the Dallas media since debuting a week or so ago and he'll be a speculative add with no guarantees following this news. Calderon's X-rays turned out negative but with eight minutes to go in a contested game it seems an absence of at least one game is possible. Calderon finished with 16 points, four treys and three assists on the night, while Larkin has four turnovers and one assist in nine minutes.

Thu Nov 28 201300:15Jose Calderon scores 12 in 28 minutes
Jose Calderon played 28 minutes in Wednesday's 103-99 win over the Warriors, scoring 12 points with two rebounds, three assists, two 3-poitners and one turnover.
He and Shane Larkin were subbed out for each other multiple times in this game and coach Rick Carlisle seems to be gaining some confidence in his rookie Calderon is still going to be able to hold value in all leagues as long as he's able to get 28 minutes per game with his assists, steals and solid shooting percentages, so his owners shouldn't be hitting the panic button.

Sat Nov 23 201303:48Calderon takes hard fall on quiet night
Jose Calderon took a hard fall in the Mavs' 103-93 win over the Jazz on Friday, scoring five points on 2-of-3 shooting (including a three) with one rebound, four assists and two steals in 30 minutes.
We don't want to raise up the red flag for no reason, but the lack of production caught our eye so we'll be watching out for any bad reports. It's also possible he held back because the Mavs were bombing on the Jazz for most of the night and he simply wasn't needed. Monta Ellis scored 26 points with six assists, and Dirk Nowitzki put up 18 and seven in the win.

Thu Nov 21 201304:03Jose Calderon scores 13 points in 29 minutes
Jose Calderon played 29 minutes against the Rockets on Wednesday with 13 points, one rebound, three assists, one steal and three 3-pointers.
He hit two very clutch free throws to give the Mavericks a three-point cushion at the end of the game. Calderon's outlook did take a bit of a hit tonight with Shane Larkin bursting on the scene in front of the home folks. It's obviously far from panic time, but Larkin is more likely to get minutes at Calderon's expense and not Monta Ellis.

Sun Nov 10 201300:46Jose Calderon falls back to earth Friday
Jose Calderon hit just 3-of-8 shots (all 3-pointers) for nine points, seven rebounds, three assists and a steal in Saturday's win.
JC went off for 21 points and seven dimes on Friday, and it's likely the back-to-back set meant he was tired on Saturday. Calderon's next injury is likely just around the corner, but as long as he's healthy, he'll be better than this on most nights.

Sat Nov 9 201303:14Calderon gets loose for 21 points, six threes
Jose Calderon got loose for 21 points, four rebounds, seven assists, a steal and six 3-pointers in the Mavs' loss to the Wolves on Friday.
Calderon hit 7-of-11 shots from the field on the night and the early reviews are great for he and backcourt partner Monta Ellis, even if Ellis struggled to hit just 9-of-24 field goal attempts last night. It's really a great arrangement on offense with one guy moving the ball and the other one pulling the trigger. Calderon and Ellis figure to hold their respective mid-round and early-round valuations when they're on the floor.

Sun Nov 3 201300:54Jose Calderon does his thing on Saturday
Jose Calderon didn't turn the ball over in 39 minutes against the Grizzlies on Saturday, shooting 4-of-11 from the field for 15 points with two boards, five assists, one steal and three 3-pointers.
Not turning the ball over against Mike Conley and Co. is no small feat and Calderon had a much-needed great game in a win. He didn't score at all on Friday and started his season shooting 1-of-15 from the field. The Mavericks should give their floor general plenty of minutes and Calderon will be worth starting in almost all leagues while he's healthy.

Sat Nov 2 201300:48Calderon puts up a goose egg on Friday
Jose Calderon missed all eight of his shots on Friday, failing to score with six assists, one steal and one turnover in 25 minutes.
It's been a rough start for Calderon and he's now shooting 1-of-15 from the field to start the season. That has been an area of strength for Calderon in his career with his career shooting of 48.3 percent from the floor. He does look a step slow, but there's not enough info to correlate it to his troublesome hamstring. He's more of a buy-low guy for now.

Thu Oct 31 201300:42Jose Calderon struggles with shot
Jose Calderon hit 1-of-7 shots shots (a 3-pointer) for five points, 11 assists and a steal in Wednesday's win.
His hamstrings are always a little shaky, as was his shooting tonight, and he got torched by Jeff Teague. The good news is he made it through the game in one piece and should be ready to go for the next one. Monta Ellis is handling the ball a lot, which could mean double-digit assist nights will be few and far between for Calderon, but he did a nice job of distributing tonight.

Mon Oct 21 201323:39Jose Calderon has offense under control
Jose Calderon turned in his second consecutive positive showing of the preseason on Monday with 14 points, two boards, three assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 26 minutes against the Rockets.
He didn't turn the ball over and shot 6-of-10 from the field, which have been two strengths to his game. Calderon was second in the NBA last season for assist-to-turnover ratio and seems to be getting on the same page quickly with his new team. His hamstring issues are going to cause him to slide in drafts, so he could become a value in the early second half in most formats.

Tue Oct 15 201313:58Jose Calderon (hamstring) practices fully
Jose Calderon (hamstring) practiced without limitations on Tuesday and he hopes to play vs. the Bobcats on Saturday.
The injury didn't bother Calderon at all on Tuesday. Considering his history with hamstring injuries, and how easy they can be to aggravate, we'll leave him on the injury report until he plays in an exhibition.
