Sun Jul 14 201313:33Pelicans still must decide on Brian Roberts
Brian Roberts' contract for 2013-14 will become fully guaranteed if the Pelicans don't waive him by July 20th.
The deal is worth $789k but only $50k is currently guaranteed. He played in 78 games last season and his salary is reasonable for a backup PG, but there may not be space for him in a backcourt with Jrue Holiday, Pierre Jackson, Austin Rivers and Tyreke Evans. Roberts will have a chance to sway GM Dell Demps during Summer League in Las Vegas.

Tue May 21 201308:41Brian Roberts waiting on lotto to learn fate
Brian Roberts' contract option for next season could be determined by Tuesday's NBA draft lottery.
Several mock drafts have the Pelicans eyeing Trey Burke, and the Pelicans have yet to make a determination on Roberts' status with the team for next year. "Right now I'm just trying to see how things play out," he said. "I haven't talked to coach or management about that kind of stuff as of yet. But I'm pretty confident something an be worked out." GM Dell Demps previously said the team was "thrilled" with Roberts' progress.

Wed Apr 17 201323:44Brian Roberts scores 13 in start
Brian Roberts started against the Mavericks on Wednesday and had 13 points, three boards, six assists and two 3-pointers in 42 minutes during a 99-87 loss.
He proved to be one of the better backups in the NBA and was able to show what he could do with Greivis Vasquez dealing with an ankle injury. GV is in the running for Most Improved Player and Roberts isn't likely to unseat him in the near future.

Sun Apr 14 201320:43Brian Roberts strong in 17 bench minutes
Brian Roberts had 13 points, three 3-pointers, four rebounds, six assists, one steal and zero turnovers on Sunday, playing 27 minutes off the Hornets' bench.
This makes three excellent games in a row for Roberts, who didn't seem thrown by Greivis Vasquez (ankle) returning to the starting lineup. He's worth plugging into fantasy lineups, with the understanding that New Orleans only has one more game on Wednesday.

Sat Apr 13 201302:18Roberts posts big line with Vasquez out
Brian Roberts started for injured Greivis Vasquez (ankle) in the Hornets' 96-93 loss to the Clippers on Friday, scoring 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting (including two threes) with six rebounds and 11 assists in 41 minutes.
There is no telling when Vasquez (day-to-day) will return, so if Roberts is floating around on your wire it's time to pick him up unless you're stacked.

Fri Apr 12 201316:52Brian Roberts to start on Friday night
Brian Roberts will start Friday's game against the Clippers.
Greivis Vasquez (ankle) is out Friday and no lock to return Sunday. That leaves an exciting opportunity for Roberts, who has played 29 or more minutes six times this season. In those games, he's averaged 14.5 points, 8.1 assists and 2.3 rebounds. Owners looking for plug-n-play opportunities should make the add.

Thu Apr 11 201300:38Brian Roberts picks up some stats late
Brian Roberts was productive off the bench on Wednesday, scoring 20 points with six boards, five assists, two steals, one block and two 3-pointers in 33 minutes.
He played almost the entire fourth quarter, but the Hornets were down 28 points when he checked in with just under 11 minutes left in the game. Roberts is one of the better backup point guards in the league and if there is something wrong with Greivis Vasquez's ankle, he'd be a must-own player. Check back for updates on Thursday and Friday before New Orleans plays against the Clippers.

Sun Mar 31 201321:05Brian Roberts scores 15 pts off Hornets bench
Brian Roberts came off the bench on Sunday but still scored 15 points with three 3-pointers, three assists and two steals in 25 minutes.
He made 5-of-7 shots from the field and can't be relied upon for this level of hyper-efficiency. With Greivis Vasquez healthy, Roberts is an easy cut in standard formats.

Sat Mar 30 201301:34Brian Roberts isn't quite as productive Fri.
Brian Roberts got his second start this week on Friday and had 13 points, one board, five assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 41 minutes against the Heat.
Greivis Vasquez sat out Monday and played Wednesday, so there's a chance something might not be right with him. Although, the Hornets don't have a great schedule coming up with just one game (Sunday) before playing again on Wednesday. If Roberts is still sitting out there, there's not much incentive to pick him up.

Mon Mar 25 201323:11Brian Roberts hands out 18 assists in win
Brian Roberts handed out a career-high 18 assists in Monday's win over the Nuggets, adding 13 points, five boards, one steal and one 3-pointer in 41 minutes.
The Hornets were firing on all cylinders and shot 14-of-25 from the 3-point line to go with 14-of-15 from the charity stripe. Congrats if you were able to spot-start him today, but Greivis Vasquez wanted to try and play today, so there's a decent chance he'll be back on Wednesday. Roberts is only worth a look as Vasquez insurance.

Sun Mar 10 201322:24Brian Roberts starts, shoots 3-of-13 in win
Brian Roberts made the first start of his NBA career on Sunday, scoring nine points on 3-of-13 shooting, with nine assists, two steals and zero turnovers.
Austin Rivers (hand) is likely done for the season and Eric Gordon (knee) still can't play in back-to-back games, so Roberts may get a few spot starts down the stretch. Greivis Vasquez (20 points, seven rebounds, five assists) essentially moved to SG tonight, an interesting wrinkle which paid off with a win. For what it's worth, Roberts is averaging 6.4 points and 0.6 threes in 14 minutes per game this season.

Wed Feb 20 201323:18Brian Roberts fills it up in 11 minutes
Brian Roberts got hot in 11 minutes during a loss to Cleveland on Wednesday, shooting 7-of-8 from the field for 17 points with one board, one assist and three 3-pointers.
He's been playing efficient basketball lately and averaged 7.0 points on 52 percent from the field in just 15.0 minutes during his previous five games. However, the small workload means Roberts isn't worth owning in almost any leagues while Greivis Vasquez is healthy.

Brian Roberts (ankle) returned to action on Monday with two points and two assists in 11 minutes vs. the Kings.
This is an accurate picture of Roberts' role. He's a fantasy non-factor as long as Greivis Vasquez is healthy.

Mon Jan 21 201308:55Brian Roberts could return to lineup Monday
Brian Roberts (ankle) could return to the lineup on Monday, according to Monty Williams.
If Roberts is healthy enough to play, the Hornets can go back to using their regular rotation of having Roberts backup Greivis Vasquez at point guard. Roberts has no fantasy value.

Sun Jan 20 201301:03Brian Roberts (ankle) doesn't play Saturday
Brian Roberts (ankle) did not play on Saturday.
Roberts was a game-time decision and his absence probably went unnoticed in most fantasy leagues, as he's averaging just 11 minutes per game in January. Consider him day-to-day.

Sat Jan 19 201312:34Hornets optimistic Brian Roberts will play
Brian Roberts (ankle) participated in shootaround Saturday and coach Monty Williams is cautiously optimistic he'll play tonight.
Roberts was in a great deal of pain when he hurt himself Wednesday, so it's a good sign that he was able to get some work in today. Roberts has had some moments in the sun this season, but has been inconsistent overall and doesn't have value barring an injury.

Thu Jan 17 201312:43Brian Roberts uncertain for Saturday
Brian Roberts (ankle) is uncertain to play on Saturday.
Roberts left the court in a great deal of pain on Wednesday night, so we're not entirely surprised. If he does miss the game, Austin Rivers could see extended run behind Greivis Vasquez at point guard.

Wed Jan 16 201320:47Brian Roberts leaves with sprained ankle
Brian Roberts sprained his left ankle while being fouled on Wednesday and headed straight to the locker room instead of shooting his free throws.
That means he isn't eligible to return, and he must have been in a great deal of pain to not shoot them. He'll be day-to-day for now, but this should just mean more minutes for Greivis Vasquez until Roberts is able to play again.

Wed Jan 2 201323:57Brian Roberts scores 11 in loss
Brian Roberts hit 4-of-7 shots for 11 points, three rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes on Wednesday.
Roberts has had some decent games this season, but is far too inconsistent to be used in fantasy leagues as long as Greivis Vasquez is healthy.
