Tue Aug 14 201221:23Josh Collmenter to resume activities soon
Josh Collmenter (ulcers) visited with a doctor Tuesday and is expected to be cleared to resume baseball-related activities within the next few days.
Collmenter was likely prescribed some medication for his ulcers. He should be ready to rejoin the Diamondbacks' bullpen when first eligible on August 24.

Fri Aug 10 201219:00Collmenter placed on DL with ulcers
Diamondbacks placed RHP Josh Collmenter on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 9, with ulcers.
No word on the severity of the issue or a timeline for his return. Collmenter has a 4.24 ERA and and 69/18 K/BB ratio over 74 1/3 innings this season as a starter and reliever. The Diamondbacks have recalled right-hander Brad Bergesen from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding roster move.

Sun Jul 22 201219:07Josh Collmenter goes six strong in win
Making his first start since rejoining the Diamondbacks rotation, Josh Collmenter held the Astros to two runs on seven hits in six innings of Sunday's 8-2 win.
Collmenter struck out four, walked one and allowed a solo home run to Justin Maxwell. With one relief outing sprinkled in the middle, Collmenter has now been quality in each of his past three starts, and owns a 3.82 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 66 innings between the bullpen and rotation. He's liable to go off the tracks at any time, but Collmenter is worth an own in NL-only leagues for the time being.

Thu Jul 19 201210:01Collmenter moving back into Arizona rotation
Josh Collmenter is shifting back into the Diamondbacks' starting rotation to replace Trevor Bauer.
Bauer was sent back to the minors this week after registering a 6.06 ERA and 17/13 K/BB ratio in his first 16 1/3 major league innings. Collmenter has posted some superb numbers out of the Arizona 'pen but should probably be avoided in most standard fantasy leagues.

Sat Jul 7 201201:17Josh Collmenter notches first win of 2012
Josh Collmenter notched his first win of the season after allowing two runs -- one earned -- in six innings Friday against the Dodgers.
Collmenter has allowed just two earned runs in 16 innings in his three starts since returning from his bullpen exile. Trevor Bauer hasn't been very impressive in his two starts so far, so Collmenter might stay in the rotation after the break. It will probably hinge on Bauer's performance Sunday.

Sun Jul 1 201217:54Collmenter goes six strong in no-decision
Josh Collmenter held the Brewers to one run on three hits in six innings Sunday, but got stuck with a no-decision in Arizona's 2-1 loss.
He struck out five and walked none. Collmenter has acquitted himself well since rejoining the Diamondbacks rotation, but he still can't be counted on to fool teams on a start-to-start basis. He's back of the roster fodder in NL-only leagues. He'll get the Dodgers at home on Friday.

Wed Jun 27 201217:56Collmenter back in Arizona's rotation
Josh Collmenter is back in the Arizona rotation.
With Daniel Hudson facing Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery, the D'Backs need a starter now and for the remainder of the season. Tyler Skaggs seems like the best long-term option, but Collmenter will handle the rotation vacancy through at least the All-Star break.

Sat Jun 23 201201:32Josh Collmenter effective in spot start
Making a spot start in place of Joe Saunders, Josh Collmenter allowed one run over four innings in the Diamondbacks' win over the Cubs on Friday night.
Collmenter didn't last long enough to get the decision, but the Diamondbacks won 6-1. It was Collmenter's first start since April 24 and just his fourth appearance of the month. He's primarily served as a mop-up man since being sent to the bullpen, though he has been effective in that role. Since the beginning of May, he has a 1.59 ERA in 22 2/3 innings.

Sat Apr 28 201221:01Collmenter moved to Arizona's bullpen
Josh Collmenter has been moved to the bullpen.
The Diamondbacks will call up left-hander Patrick Corbin on Monday to take Collmenter's spot in the rotation. The soft-tossing right-hander registered an ugly 9.82 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in four starts (18 1/3 innings).

Sun Apr 15 201214:17Collmenter to make next start Thursday
Josh Collmenter will make his next start Thursday against the Pirates.
There was speculation Collmenter might lose his rotation spot, but it sounds like the Diamondbacks want to see a larger sample size. Wade Miley is a candidate to replace him in the short-term. Top-prospect Trevor Bauer likely isn't far off, either.

Sun Apr 15 201201:33Josh Collmenter gives up five runs
Josh Collmenter gave up five runs in four innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Rockies on Saturday.
Collmenter can't have much more rope after following up his awful spring with a 12.86 ERA in his next two starts. Don't be surprised if Wade Miley gets his rotation spot next time through.

Sun Apr 8 201219:39Collmenter struggles in regular-season debut
Josh Collmenter's spring struggles carried over to the regular season Sunday, as he allowed six runs (five earned) on five hits in just three innings of Arizona's 7-6 win over the Giants.
Start the Trevor Bauer watch. Collmenter allowed three runs a piece in the second and third, and just wasn't sharp after getting rocked to the tune of a 9.95 ERA in Cactus League play. He's off-the-radar in NL-only leagues, and could soon be out of the rotation.

Fri Mar 30 201219:25Collmenter shelled again
Josh Collmenter got shelled yet again on Friday, allowing right runs on 10 hits and two home runs in just four innings of Arizona's loss to the Angels.
Collmenter served up bombs to Albert Pujols and Howie Kendrick in watching his spring ERA soar to a likely final resting place of 11.81. Collmenter is penciled into Arizona's season-opening rotation, but he'll have to turn things around in a hurry to stave off youngsters Trevor Bauer and Tyler Skaggs.

Mon Mar 26 201214:33Gibson announces D'Backs rotation
Kirk Gibson announced Arizona's starting rotation on Monday.
Ian Kennedy will be followed, in order, by Daniel Hudson, Josh Collmenter, Trevor Cahill and Joe Saunders. Arizona is apparently playing the matchups early with Cahill, which doesn't seem like an endorsement from his new team. The 26-year-old Collmenter, meanwhile, will need to perform early to hold off Trevor Bauer and Tyler Skaggs. The right-hander is winless in three starts this spring, and owns a 9.75 ERA over 12 innings.

Sun Mar 25 201219:33Collmenter makes third Cactus League start
Josh Collmenter allowed two runs on five hits over five innings in Sunday's game against the Padres.
Collmenter will open the season as the Diamondbacks' fifth starter, but Trevor Bauer and Tyler Skaggs are candidates to replace him if he gets off to a slow start. The 26-year-old right-hander is winless in three starts this spring, and owns a 9.75 ERA over 12 innings.

Wed Mar 21 201214:14Collmenter still D-Backs' No. 5 starter
Diamondbacks' manager Kirk Gibson reiterated Wednesday that Josh Collmenter will open the season as the team's fifth starter if he's healthy.
Collmenter has allowed 11 runs on 12 hits over seven innings (14.14 ERA) this spring, but Gibson suspects that he may have lost his fastball command while focusing on his secondary pitches. The 26-year-old right-hander was scratched from a scheduled start two weeks ago due to forearm tightness, but he hasn't given any indication that it's a lingering issue. The D-Backs appear willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but top prospects Trevor Bauer and Tyler Skaggs are candidates to replace him if he gets off to a slow start.

Mon Mar 19 201219:39Collmenter gets shelled again
Josh Collmenter got roughed up for five runs on six hits in just three innings of Monday's loss to the A's.
Collmenter served up home runs to Manny Ramirez and Josh Reddick in seeing his Cactus League ERA skyrocket to 14.14. It's never wise to make too much of spring results, but allowing 11 runs in just seven innings of work can't be good. Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson recently confirmed Collmenter will begin the year in the starting rotation, but he'll likely be on a short leash.

Fri Mar 16 201213:42D'Backs could move Josh Collmenter to pen
Jim Bowden of MLB Network Radio reports that the Diamondbacks are discussing the possibility of moving Josh Collmenter to the bullpen once one of their young starters is ready.
Collmenter posted a 3.59 ERA in 24 starts for the D'Backs last season, but he started to get hit harder once opposing hitters got used to his delivery, and his long-term role is probably as a reliever. Trevor Bauer in particular has really impressed the team not only with his stuff but with his work ethic, and he's nearly big league-ready. Tyler Skaggs isn't far off, either. Collmenter isn't a recommended option in mixed leagues this season.

Mon Mar 12 201215:01Collmenter cleared to make Wednesday start
Josh Collmenter (forearm) has been cleared to make his Cactus League start Wednesday vs. the Rockies.
Collmenter had to be scratched from a scheduled outing late last week because of forearm tightness. The 26-year-old right-hander has surrendered three hits and three earned runs in two innings of Cactus League play.

Sun Mar 11 201208:15Josh Collmenter to throw bullpen session
Josh Collmenter (forearm) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Sunday.
If the session goes well, Collmenter will make his second Cactus League start on Wednesday. The right-hander skipped his previous start due to forearm tightness, but the Diamondbacks are convinced it's not a big deal. Collmented posted a 3.59 ERA in 24 starts last season and will hold down a rotation spot again in 2012.
