It's odd to not see Napoli in there against a left-hander (Felix Doubront). The team has not indicated an injury is in play, but Napoli was lifted for a pinch runner in the sixth inning of Tuesday's game after reaching on an infield single. Drew Stubbs starts in left field.

Napoli is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Napoli has seen regular starts at left field in the last week, but will take a day off while Drew Stubbs fills in at center field, batting ninth.

Napoli returned to the lineup with a three-run homer in Wednesday's rout of the Astros.

He's not much of a left fielder, but the Rangers want Napoli's bat in the lineup, so he's getting some play there despite his fielding issues. He's hitting .294/.390/.549 since coming back to Texas -- quite a far cry from the .693 OPS he posted in 98 games with the Red Sox this year.

Barring extreme struggles adjusting to the new position - Napoli booted an easy fly ball Monday - Napoli will likely start in left field against most lefties. The veteran is hitting just .192 against right-handers on the year, compared to .260 versus southpaws.

The Rangers have been working on getting Napoli adjusted to playing the outfield, but the veteran has not appeared overly comfortable in two games as the left fielder. He was seen taking fly balls during warmups Tuesday, but he'll remain out of the lineup as Joey Gallo gets the nod in left.
