Fri Sep 9 2011 | 18:31 | Rockies to take long look at Pacheco |
Jordan Pacheco is expected to get the majority of the starts for the Rockies at third base down the stretch. |
He'll also play a little first and second, so it sounds like he'll be in there most every day for the Rockies. He wasn't really any good in Triple-A this year -- hitting .278/.343/.377 at as fine of an offensive environment as Colorado Springs is hardly worthy of note -- but the Rockies want to see if he should be a part of their 2012 plans. That gives him a little value in NL-only leagues. |

Tue Sep 6 2011 | 18:02 | Rockies recall C Pacheco from minors |
Rockies recalled C-INF Jordan Pacheco from Triple-A Colorado Springs. |
Pacheco, 25, batted .278/.343/.377 with three home runs, 50 RBI and a .721 OPS over 411 plate appearances this season at the Triple-A level this season while throwing out just 20 percent of would-be basestealers. Pacheco is making his major league debut Tuesday at third base, which is an indication that the Rockies view him as a future utility man. |

Tue Mar 15 2011 | 03:26 | Pacheco making strong bid for roster spot |
Jordan Pacheco's strong play this spring has put him in a position to join the Rockies on Opening Day. |
Now in the late stages of spring training, Manager Jim Tracy continues to play Pacheco, who is hitting .348. "This kid has tremendous poise," Tracy said. "He has a tremendous sense of awareness. And nobody in this camp would argue the fact that he can flat hit." Last season, Pacheco hit .333/.396/.436 in 91 plate appearances at Double-A Tulsa. That being said, with his potential path to the majors facilitated by others' injuries, his stay could be brief. |
