Simon (groin) said he does not expect to miss his next start, George Sipple of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Simon strained his groin during Saturday's game, leading to his removal in the seventh innings. He is not expected to land on the disabled list, and he may even be ready for Thursday's scheduled outing in Baltimore. Simon did alter his post-start routine a bit, working on a bike instead of jogging Sunday.

Simon is not expected to go to the DL, which is a good sign that he will not miss much time. He could be ready for his next scheduled start on Thursday.

Simon allowed four runs on six hits and four walks in 5.2 innings in a no decision Monday against Seattle.

Simon walked four batters for the fourth time in 18 starts on Monday, and his 3.2 BB/9 ranks in the bottom 20 among qualified starters through Monday's action. That's his worst walk rate since 2012 with Cincinnati, the biggest reason why Simon's ERA is back in the 4.00s after he managed a 3.16 ERA in 345 innings from 2012-2014.

Simon only recorded seven outs, two of which came on the base paths, in Saturday's 9-5 loss to Minnesota. He allowed 10 hits and seven runs, five of which were earned, in 2.1 innings of work. He struck out one.

He has been charged with 28 runs over his last five starts and has seen his ERA balloon from 2.58 to 4.53. On the bright side, he didn't allow a walk. His recent struggles are reminiscent of his pre-Cincinnati days and that's dreadful news for the Tigers. He just can't be trusted right now.

Simon struck out four and walked three while holding the Mariners to five runs on eight hits over 5.2 innings Monday night in a winning effort.

On a night when Simon struggled, he was bested by Hisashi Iwakuma and the Seattle bullpen, while the latter offered a late buffer to put Simon in line for the victory as the Detroit offense scratched out seven runs following Iwakuma's departure. Simon is scheduled to finish the first half Saturday in Minnesota against the Twins.

Simon (7-5) was battered for six runs on 15 hits over 5.2 innings Wednesday in a loss to the Pirates.

On the bright side, he struck out seven without a walk, and the run total could have been much worse with all those men he put on base. Still, Simon has now been blown up for 18 runs on 29 hits in his last three outings, effectively destroying the confidence he'd built up in fantasy owners over the season's first two-plus months. He'll get the Mariners next week.

Simon's next start will come Wednesday, the Oakland Press reports.

Simon's last start was Thursday, and he'll be pitching on regular rest. This news was more tied to the projected starts of Justin Verlander (Tuesday) and Kyle Ryan (Thursday).

Simon was ineffective for the second straight start Thursday, giving up five runs in 6.1 innings against the White Sox. He struck out five while allowing six hits and three walks.

The Dertoit offense helped Simon avoid the loss, but this start only serves to highlight the pattern of Simon's season so far -- stretches of shining outings interspersed with clunkers. He's managed quality starts in exactly half his 14 outings and has been touched up for four or more runs five times. His next start comes Wednesday against Pittsburgh.

Simon (7-4) was rocked for seven runs on eight hits and three walks in Saturday's loss to the Yankees.

Simon wasn't the only Tigers pitcher to struggle Saturday, as the Bronx Bombers raced out to a 13-0 lead by the fifth inning. Despite this disaster, Simon still owns a very respectable 3.29 ERA and 3.85 FIP, and he continues to outpitch his peripherals, as he ahas for the last three seasons. He gets a friendlier matchup with the White Sox on Thursday.

Simon was a bit lucky Sunday against the White Sox, allowing just four runs (just one earned) over eight innings with seven strikeouts and two walks en route to his sixth win of the season.

The Sox did most of their damage on a three-run home run in the first inning following a Tigers error, and Simon was able to rebound to limit Chicago to just one run over the next seven frames. The veteran has now thrown seven quality starts in 11 appearances this season and will have a full seven days of rest before taking on the Indians Sunday.

Simon (5-3) allowed four runs on four hits and five walks over 6.1 innings in Tuesday's loss to Oakland.

Simon returned to the mound after missing a start on Thursday. Not normally a strikeout pitcher, he fanned six hitters as he cruised through the first six innings before allowing four baserunners in the seventh. Though he left with a 3-1 lead and the bases loaded, all three runners scored on a Ben Zobrist grand slam. Simon will start Sunday against the White Sox.

Simon was reinstated from the bereavement list to start Tuesday's game against the A's in Detroit.

After missing Thursday's scheduled outing against the Angels, Simon will return Tuesday looking to end the Tigers' four-game losing streak. He only has 38 strikeouts through 57.1 innings this season, but he's also given up just four home runs, helping him to a 5-2 record, 2.67 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. Even accounting for the lack of homers, Simon is an obvious candidate to regress as the season goes on.

The 34-year-old is 5-2 with a 2.67 ERA in 57.1 innings so far this year, but his groundball rate is down more than eight percent from last year and his swinging-strike rate currently sits at 7.6 percent.

Simon can be on the bereavement list for a minimum of three but a maximum of seven games, so it remains to be seen when he will start next. The Tigers have not yet officially announced a starter for Thursday's game, but Kyle Ryan is the favorite to fill Simon's spot.

Simon allowed just two runs, neither of which were earned, in a solid start Friday against the Astros. He picked up the win and finished with five strikeouts, one walk and four hits in 7.0 innings pitched.

The Big Pasta is now 5-2 with a 2.67 ERA and 1.20 WHIP on the season. We'd like to see a slightly better K:BB rate (38:16 in 57.1 innings), but he's a decent fantasy option regardless. Just beware those walks -- he has given up 10 free passes, including two, four-BB games, in his last 25.2 innings.

Simon was a tough-luck loser on Sunday against the Cardinals, as he allowed just two runs on seven hits and four walks across six innings.

It's not always pretty for Simon, but the 34-year-old has now delivered five quality starts in eight appearances this season and still sports a solid 3.04 ERA along with his 4-2 record. After starting the season 4-0, Simon has failed to win another game and will look to earn that elusive fifth victory on Friday against the Astros.

He managed to get himself out of a self-inflicted jam in the second when a walk and a double put runners on second and third with none out. But he whiffed the next three batters to get out of the jam and then stayed strong to the eighth when he just ran out of gas. It was a great line for those owners who took a chance on him.

Simon allowed three earned runs on five hits in 5.0 innings of work Wednesday night. He issued four walks and struck out two White Sox batters.

He left the game with the lead, but the bullpen couldn't hold it for him. He had battled to that point, but is still seeking his fifth win of the season.

Simon was rocked Thursday in his bid for a fifth-straight win. He allowed nine hits and six earned runs in 4.1 innings in an 8-1 loss to the Royals and raised his ERA from 1.65 to 3.13.

It was a stark contrast to his first four starts, where he allowed five runs and 22 hits to win them all. But Thursday was his worst start in a Tigers' uniform.
