Wed Apr 30 201423:51Drew Hutchison takes loss to Royals
Drew Hutchison gave up four runs in seven innings to take a loss to the Royals on Wednesday.
Hutchison was one out away from a very nice outing, but Alcides Escobar doubled in two runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. It gave the Royals a 4-2 lead and resulted in Hutchison taking his second loss in six starts. He's still been very solid this season; better than his 3.82 ERA are his 38/10 K/BB ratio and three homers allowed in 33 innings.

Thu Apr 24 201422:10Hutchison's fine outting marred by Jays' 'pen
Drew Hutchison pitched well in Thursday's start against the Orioles, but earned the no-decision despite allowing only two runs over six innings.
Hutchison exited the game in line for the win, but the Jays' bullpen surrendered nine runs total in the seventh and eighth innings, leaving the right-hander with the no-decision. Hutchison allowed six hits, walked one, and struck out nine. He's looked sharp in his last two starts, having struck out 18 and walked one in 11 1/3 innings. Hutchison will face the meager Royals offense in his next outing.

Fri Apr 18 201423:22Hutchison strikes out nine in no-decision
Drew Hutchison allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings Friday in a no-decision against the Indians.
Hutchison held the Indians scoreless over the first five innings, but he was chased after giving up a go-ahead two-run home run to Carlos Santana in the sixth inning. He equaled a career-high with nine strikeouts and walked none in the no-decision. With a 3.60 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 20 innings, Hutchison is worth monitoring in deeper mixed leagues, but he's a risky play next week against the Orioles at home.

Sat Apr 12 201423:06Hutchison throws six scoreless in no-decision
Drew Hutchison fired six shutout innings in a no-decision Saturday night against the Orioles.
It was a nice turnaround outing for Hutchison, who was lit up for six runs over just 3 1/3 innings last Sunday by the Yankees. Ups and downs should be expected throughout the season for the talented 23-year-old righty. He'll face the Indians in Cleveland next.

Sun Apr 6 201416:29Drew Hutchison gets roughed up by Yankees
Drew Hutchison was touched up for six runs over just 3 1/3 frames in Sunday's loss to the Yankees.
Hutchison did record six strikeouts, but he allowed six hits -- including a home run -- while walking three. He also hit a batter. Hutchison looked good in spring training and in his first start of the season, but today's showing is a reminder that some inconsistency should be expected after his long layoff. He'll try to bounce back next weekend in Baltimore.

Tue Apr 1 201422:46Hutchison tosses 5 1/3 scoreless
Drew Hutchison got the win with 5 1/3 shut-out innings during Tuesday's start against the Rays.
Hutchison underwent Tommy John surgery in August 2012 and missed most of the 2013 season recovering. If his spring performance and his outing against the Rays is any indication, he is just fine. He allowed just three hits and walked three while striking out four. He is still a risky proposition for mixed leagues but he can provide some value in AL-only leagues with selective use.

Thu Mar 27 201416:20Drew Hutchison combines on one-hit shutout
Drew Hutchison pitched 5 1/3 innings and combined with four relievers on a one-hit shutout of the Phillies on Thursday.
This being Florida getaway day, many, many hitters were trying to get their at-bats over with as quickly as possible. Still, no lineup mailed it in quite so well as Philadelphia's did today; Jimmy Rollins had the club's lone hit. Hutchison ends the spring with a 1.80 ERA. We won't be recommending him in mixed leagues right away, but AL-only leaguers should have him active for his start against the Rays.

Sat Mar 22 201412:11Drew Hutchison fans six in minors game
Drew Hutchison pitched extremely well in a minor league game on Saturday, allowing just one hit and a walk over seven scoreless frames.
The 23-year-old right-hander punched out seven in the impressive performance. He's a lock to begin the season in the Blue Jays rotation and possess significant upside in the later rounds of fantasy drafts.

Fri Mar 14 201416:47Drew Hutchison strikes out seven Red Sox
Drew Hutchison added to his case for a rotation spot by striking out seven in 4 2/3 innings of one-run ball against the Red Sox on Friday.
Hutchison is pretty much a shoo-in for the fourth spot in Toronto's rotation, leaving J.A. Happ, Ricky Romero, Todd Redmond, Marcus Stroman and Esmil Rogers as possibility for the fifth. Hutchison has allowed three runs and struck out 16 in 9 2/3 innings this spring.

Thu Mar 13 201410:26Jays' Hutchison likely to claim rotation spot
Blue Jays manager John Gibbons acknowledged Thursday that Drew Hutchison is likely to get a rotation spot.
"Nobody's pitched better this spring than Hutch," Gibbons told Sportsnet's 590 The FAN on Thursday morning. "The way he's pitching he's been dominating." Hutchison missed a majority of the 2013 season due to Tommy John surgery, but he's back to full strength now and could take on fantasy relevance in deeper mixed leagues. The 23-year-old right-hander boasts a 2.80 ERA, 1.089 WHIP, and 288 strikeouts in 270 minor league innings.

Sat Mar 8 201416:03Drew Hutchison strikes out five Twins
Drew Hutchison allowed two runs in three innings and struck out five Saturday versus the Twins.
Hutchinson gave up a two-run homer to Byron Buxton, but he allowed just one other hit and one walk, making this a pretty solid outing. Hutchison should be very interested in what goes down with Ervin Santana over these next few hours. It's still possible he could claim a rotation spot with Santana on the Jays, but it would reduce his margin for error.

Sat Mar 1 201417:15Drew Hutchinson fans four Orioles
Drew Hutchison pitched two scoreless innings and struck out four against the Orioles on Saturday.
Hutchison returned late last year after Tommy John surgery in July 2012. He'll probably need to get some innings in Triple-A before he's an option for Toronto's rotation, but he could speed up his timetable with a stellar spring.

Sat Mar 1 201413:59Drew Hutchison could earn fifth starter's job
Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Saturday that Drew Hutchison has an "oustide chance" at earning the team's fifth starter job out of spring training.
The 23-year-old spent the 2013 season recovering from Tommy John surgery, posting a 4.84 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 42/14 K/BB ratio over 35 1/3 innings. With the underwhelming list of candidates competing for that final spot, Hutchison certainly can put himself in the conversation with a strong showing this spring.

Sun Oct 20 201316:22Hutchison tosses four no-hit innings Saturday
Blue Jays prospect Drew Hutchison tossed four no-hit innings as Salt River defeated Mesa in Arizona Fall League action on Saturday.
The 23-year-old right-hander, who underwent Tommy John surgery 14 months ago, needed just 48 pitches to cruise through the four frames, fanning five and walking one in the process. His bullpen would go on to lose the combined no-hitter in the sixth inning. He's now been unscored upon in 6 2/3 innings this fall, and with a strong offseason could be poised to compete for a spot in the Blue Jays starting rotation next spring.

Drew Hutchison (elbow) has been transferred to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Hutchison is currently rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. The 22-year-old posted a 2.76 ERA and 22/8 K/BB ratio over 16 1/3 innings between High-A Dunedin and Double-A New Hampshire and is ready to face more advanced competition. He should be ready to return to the majors in September if there are no setbacks.

Drew Hutchison (elbow) allowed one run on one hit and three walks over two innings Sunday in his first rehab appearance with High-A Dunedin.
It was Hutchison's first game action since Tommy John surgery last August. The Blue Jays could option him to Triple-A once his 30-day rehab clock expires, but he has a chance to pitch in the majors before the end of the season.

Fri Jun 14 201318:46Drew Hutchison (elbow) to throw sim. game Tue
Drew Hutchison (elbow) will throw a simulated game Tuesday.
It's the next step in his rehab process from Tommy John surgery. Hutchison figures to throw a few simulated games before going out on a minor league rehab assignment, but he's getting closer. The 22-year-old is unlikely to be an option for the Jays until well into the second half.
