Conor Gillaspie went 2-for-3 with four RBI in Tuesday's Cactus League win over the Rangers.
Gillaspie singled in a pair of runs in the third before tripling in a couple more in the fourth. Acquired last week from the Giants, Gillaspie should make the Opening Day roster as a backup at both corner infield spots.

Gillaspie was out of options and not expected to make the Giants' Opening Day roster, so San Fran decided to go ahead and get something for him now. The sandwich round pick in 2008, Gillaspie has batted .287/.358/.420 with modest home runs totals over five minor league seasons. He should be able to land a bench job in Chicago.

Gillaspie is starting at third base and batting second on Thursday afternoon against the Marlins, and should see regular time at the hot corner over the next several weeks while Pablo Sandoval recovers from a broken hamate bone. The 24-year-old was hitting .362 with a .939 OPS and three home runs in 23 games for Fresno and may carry some value in NL-only fantasy leagues.

Conor Gillaspie was removed after one inning Tuesday for Triple-A Fresno, leading to speculation that he could be called up Wednesday.
Miguel Tejada has been ineffective all season, and Mark DeRosa is hitless since returning from the disabled list, so it would make sense to bring Gillaspie up to see if he can help out at the hot corner while Pablo Sandoval is out. He's batting .293/.373/.429 with two homers and 25 RBI for Fresno this season.
