RHP Domingo German was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before the Sunday game. German started his fourth stint with the team after being on New York's active roster June 11, June 15-July 4 and July 16. In 20 games (19 starts) between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A, he went 8-6 with a 2.88 ERA. He also was 1-0 with a 3.65 ERA in two minor league postseason starts.

RHP Domingo German was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of Sunday's doubleheader against the Red Sox and optioned back afterwards. German (0-0, 3.38 ERA) did not pitch in either game of the doubleheader. German last pitched July 2 against the Astros, throwing two two-run innings on four hits with a strikeout.

RHP Domingo German pitched four shutout innings in relief on Saturday in a 5-2 loss to Oakland. German allowed four hits, struck out six and walked three. He was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday. "Really good," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said of German's outing. "The kid did a good job, and both outings he's done a good job. He's young and really hasn't pitched a lot because he's been hurt, but he did a nice job." German has allowed zero runs over 6 2/3 innings in his two appearances for the Yankees this season.

He's 3-5 with a 3.34 ERA in 10 games, including nine starts, for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Double-A Trenton this year.

RHP Domingo German was optioned to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre to make room on the roster for RHP Ben Heller. German had been called up on Saturday, threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings on Sunday, then was sent back to Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

RHP Domingo German was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday. He said he found out he was joining the Yankees late Saturday afternoon and arrived in New York Saturday night. In games (nine starts) between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A, he is 3-5 with a 3.34 ERA. He was promoted to Triple-A May 18 and in his second start there, German recorded 10 strikeouts. "Walking in here, it's exciting," German said through an interpreter. "You walk in here and I see some of my ex-teammates here. I'm super happy, super excited for the opportunity to be here. I didn't think I was going to get here this fast. A lot of people told me that it was going to be hard. At the same time, I'm just happy for the opportunity." After pitching the final 2 1/3 innings Sunday he was optioned back to Triple-A and the Yankees said they were calling up RHP Ben Heller on Monday.

The Yankees (elbow) recalled German on Tuesday and placed him on the 60-day disabled list.

The Yankees made a slew of call-ups Tuesday with the rosters expanding, and one easy decision was to place German on the 60-day DL to clear a spot on the 40-man roster given that he underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this season.

German (elbow) successfully underwent Tommy John surgery, Josh Norris of Baseball America reports.

The development doesn't come as much of a surprise as the club acknowledged the possibility of this last week as German visited with the team doctors. He'll be out for all of 2015 and may miss the beginning of the 2016 season as well.

German will have his right elbow examined and may need Tommy John surgery, the NY Post reports.

German was sent over to the Yankees as part of the trade that brought in Nathan Eovaldi, and appeared to be in line to start the season with High-A Tampa. General manager Brian Cashman said they'd make a decision on German's status as his visit with the team doctors, but at this point it seems as though the 23-year-old may need to miss the entirety of the 2015 season.

German was optioned to High-A Tampa on Tuesday, Wallace Matthews of ESPN reports.

The 22-year-old began his career with the Marlins after getting signed from the Dominican Republic in 2009. Currently, however, he's a fastball pitcher who seems to be another couple years away from taking the mound at the highest level.
