Tomas is out of the lineup Friday against the Reds.

Tomas collected another two hits in Thursday's game, bumping his season batting line to .298/.331/.423 on the season. He'll get a day of rest Friday, however, with Ender Inciarte shifting over from left field to replace him in right and David Peralta entering the lineup in left field.

Tomas was benched earlier in the week for not running hard on a ground ball, but he made good in his return to the lineup. It is possible that his .295 average is going to take a tumble when his poor walk rate (4.3%) and high BABIP (.383) combine to regress, but that's been the case all season. Anyone who can use a high-average, low-power corner outfielder on their fantasy team will be satisfied, even if Tomas is not yet a budding star.

Tomas went 0-for-2 with a walk and run, but was also pulled from the game for not running on a hard on a ground ball in the sixth inning.

Tomas didn't agree with manager Chip Hale's assessment that he deserved to be pulled, but he is definitely slumping at the plate lately - posting just a .250/.262/.375 line over his last 40 at-bats with just one home run and only one walk against 18 strikeouts. He will likely be back in the lineup Sunday.

Tomas has answered many of the questions from the spring about his transition to the majors, but his power and plate discipline remain points of concern for his long-term future.

Though Tomas is still upholding a batting average above .300 for the season, making contact has become more of an issue of late, as he's struck out 12 times in his last 26 at-bats.

Ender Inciarte gets his second-straight start in place of Tomas. Both Inciarte and Tomas have played well of late, but apparently Inciarte has the edge over Tomas at the moment as the Diamondbacks face right-handed pitcher Taylor Jungmann. Sunday's lineup should be very telling of Tomas' status on the team for the season ahead, if he's stuck in the dugout yet again then Inciarte may have won over starting role in right field.

He homered in a 2-for-5 effort Thursday, his sixth homer of the year and second of July. The power has been rather slow to show up for Tomas this season, but he's largely made up for it by hitting for a high average (.303). Ender Inciarte will get the start in right field Friday.

He has two home runs and a .462 slugging percentage over his last 52 at-bats, but just a .269 average and .278 on-base percentage. The trend could continue as his .382 BABIP is likely to come down further. The D-backs are committed to giving him lots of playing time and If he is tapping the power he was reported to have when the D-backs signed him, he will interesting to follow over last two and a half months.

Tomas has seen his batting average fall from .313 at the All-Star break to .303 after Tuesday's game by virtue of going 2-for-15 over that span. His strong average has been propped up by a high BABIP (.380) all season, so some regression isn't a surprise, but it exposes his poor walk rate (4.6 percent) and the slow progression of his in-game power. It will be interesting to see if he can make some adjustments in the second half to continue his success.

Tomas isn't in the Diamondbacks' lineup Saturday against the Giants.

After going 0-for-6 with three strikeouts in the first game following the All-Star break, Tomas will take a seat, with Ender Inciarte manning right field and batting leadoff.

Tomas is sustaining a .314/.354/.449 season line, despite a .385 BABIP. It is reasonable to expect that BABIP and his average to come down over the remainder of the season, but Tomas has been tapping into his power more often as he spends time in the majors, which may compensate for fewer singles dropping in.

Tomas is putting his power to more use in games as the season goes on with four of his five home runs coming since June 1. He has a .315/.352/.448 line and has raised his OPS over .800 on the season.

Three of Tomas' four home runs have come in June - a hopeful sign that the power he was reported to have will show up in games the rest of the season. His batting average (.314) and an unexpected four steals have supplemented the power to make for a successful rookie season to date.

Tomas continues to pick up hits, batting .320 in 200 at-bats, but is still not showing a lot of power, as demonstrated by his .115 ISO. The development of some additional pop over the rest of the season could help to offset any drop in BABIP from his current .399 mark.

This was Tomas' first four-hit game as he continues to hit well for the D-backs with a .328 average. The average is at some risk, however, as he also sports a .413 BABIP, which seems unsustainable, although with so little track record it is tough to say what to expect from Tomas. It would be nice to see some more power from a corner outfielder, but considering his progress since spring training, Tomas is having a very good rookie year.
