Fri May 7 201021:33Lowe gets shelled by the Phillies
Derek Lowe was lit up for seven earned runs in five innings of work during a loss to the Phillies on Friday.
Lowe normally owns the Phillies, but gave up all seven of his runs with two outs on the board. Outside of starts against the light-hitting Astros and Giants, Lowe has been knocked around in all of his appearances this season. He gets another tough spot in Milwaukee next time out.
Sun May 2 201017:04Lowe holds Astros to one run to pick up win
Derek Lowe limited the Astros to one run in five innings to record a win on Sunday.
Lowe struck out three and walked one while inducing 10 ground ball outs. The right-hander had given up three earned runs or more in four of his five outings this season prior to today, so even though it was the lowly Astros' offense it was still a nice outing to see. Lowe gets the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park next time out, so he's probably best to leave on your bench for another week.
Tue Apr 27 201023:19Lowe gives up five runs in loss to Cards
Derek Lowe gave up five runs over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday night.
Lowe held the Redbirds to just one run in the first five innings, but was chased in the sixth after giving up three runs. Peter Moylan allowed an inherited runner to score, closing the book on Lowe. The veteran right-hander has a 5.79 ERA over his first five starts and has yet to complete seven innings in any of them. He needs to do better to come close to justifying his hefty $15 million price tag.
Sat Apr 17 201020:54Lowe to throw an additionall bullpen session
Derek Lowe will throw an additional bullpen session before his next start.
Atlanta's off-day Monday, in addition to Lowe's struggles, will lead to the extra work. "To try to get that feel back of consistently throwing strikes," Lowe said. "Not throw very hard but 20-30 pitches to get that feel and go from there." Lowe began the season 3-0, but he's been buoyed by offensive support, as evidence by his 4.76 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. He'll need to be sharper next week against the Phillies.

Fri Apr 16 201023:01Lowe moves to 3-0 in win over Rockies
Derek Lowe surrendered four runs -- three earned -- over 5 1/3 innings in a 9-5 win over the Rockies on Friday night.
Lowe held the Rockies to one run over the first four innings before serving up a three-run blast to Seth Smith. The Braves were well out front early on, so while it hurt fantasy owners, it hardly mattered on the scoreboard. Lowe improved to 3-0 with a 4.76 ERA and 1.59 WHIP to begin the year. He'll aim to stay perfect against the first-place Phillies next week.
Mon Apr 5 201019:11Lowe shaky in win over Cubs
Derek Lowe yielded five runs over six innings in a 16-5 win over the Cubs on Monday afternoon.
Thanks to some generous run support, that is. Lowe allowed three runs in the very first inning, but was quickly bailed out by six runs in the bottom of the frame. It was a very shaky outing for Lowe as he threw just 44 of 78 pitches for strikes and walked three. A win is a win for fantasy owners, but we look forward to a better performance next time out.
