Emilio Bonifacio (thumb) is expected to begin hitting off a tee Monday.
Bonifacio was cleared for a hitting program Friday, and will ramp up activities this weekend. A best-case scenario would have him could returning to the Marlins shortly after the All-Star break. Bonifacio is working his way back from a May 25 surgery to repair a ligament tear in his left thumb.

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Marlins are concerned about the condition of Emilio Bonifacio.
Bonifacio is working his was back from a thumb problem and has yet to be cleared for baseball-related activities. If Bonifacio struggles in his rehab, Olney suggests the Marlins will look to acquire someone who can play center field regularly, and ''would be among the first in line'' if the Twins decide to market Denard Span. The recently-promoted Scott Cousins and Justin Ruggiano will continue to split playing time in the short-term.

Emilio Bonifacio will have thumb surgery Friday and is expected to miss four to six weeks.
Tough break for Bonifacio, who was placed on the disabled list earlier this week with what was originally described as a left thumb sprain. The surgery will keep him out through late June or early July. Bryan Petersen should get the majority of playing time in center field during his absence, but it's tough to get excited about him outside of NL-only fantasy leagues.

Marlins placed OF Emilio Bonifacio on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 19, with a sprained left thumb.
It's still not clear what the MRI results are, but obviously the injury is bad enough to keep Bonifacio out for at least a couple weeks. Chris Coghlan has been recalled, but Bryan Petersen figures to benefit the most in terms of increased playing time while Bonifacio is out.

Emilio Bonifacio stole his eighth and ninth bases Thursday versus the Cubs.
The top three hitters in the Miami lineup have combined for 16 steals in 13 games. Bonifacio has the majority of them, but Jose Reyes has chipped in with four and Hanley Ramirez stole his third today. Bonifacio might be a threat to lead the league in steals with the way Ozzie Guillen has his team running.

Bonifacio requested a salary of $2.2 million and was offered $1.95 million from the Marlins when arbitration figures were exchanged last month, but the three-person panel of arbitrators ultimately ruled in the player's favor. The 26-year-old was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter after batting .296/.360/.393 with five home runs, 36 RBI, 40 stolen bases and a .753 OPS last season.

The Marlins had a salary arbitration hearing Tuesday with center fielder Emilio Bonifacio.
Bonifiacio requested a salary of $2.2 million and was offered $1.95 million from the Marlins when arbitration figures were exchanged last month. Independent arbitrators Steven Wolf, Mark Burstein and Sylvia Skratek will pick one of those figures on Wednesday.

The Marlins and Emilio Bonifacio have an arbitration hearing scheduled for February 7.
Bonifacio requested $2.2 million and was offered $1.95 million from the Marlins when arbitration figures were exchanged last week. The Marlins have a policy to cease negotiations if no deal is reached before the deadline, so even though there's a small gap between the two sides, Bonifacio's salary will ultimately be in the hands of a three-person arbitration panel.
