RHP R.A. Dickey allowed a third-inning home run to C Brett Nicholas in the third inning of the 2-1 loss to the Texas Rangers on Monday, the only run the knuckleball pitcher allowed in 6 1/3 innings of a no-decision. It was the fourth homer Dickey has allowed this season. Since joining the Blue Jays for the 2013 season, he has allowed 90 home runs, the most in major-league baseball in that span.

RHP R.A Dickey will make his fifth start of the season Tuesday when he pitches the middle game of a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox at Rogers Centre. Dickey has not won since the second game of the season, April 4 at Tampa Bay. He lost his next two starts. He had a no-decision in his most recent start, allowing three runs in six innings at Baltimore in a game won by the Orioles 4-3. Dickey is 2-5 with a 7.40 ERA in 11 career games, including seven starts, against the White Sox.

RHP R.A. Dickey's problems versus the Orioles continued on Wednesday night. He gave up three runs in the first inning before settling down and blanking Baltimore for the next five innings. The Blue Jays bounced back to tie the game before he left but Dickey's no-decision left him 0-4 in eight starts versus Baltimore since coming to the Blue Jays in 2013. "R.A. got roughed up in that first but then he settled in and did a hell of a job," Toronto manager John Gibbons said. "He started getting outs."

RHP R.A. Dickey, who went 4-0 against the Red Sox in 2014 but was just 0-4 with a 5.36 ERA since, gave up three runs -- two unearned because of a Josh Thole passed ball -- in the first inning Friday night. He lasted 4 2/3 innings and suffered the loss to fall to 1-2.

Dickey had one of his better knuckleballs on his start against Boston at Rogers Centre, but he allowed seven runs (six earned) in five innings despite striking out nine. There was so much movement on his knuckleball that C Josh Thole was charged with two passes balls and Dickey made two wild pitches. Dickey also made a throwing error. In 23 career games against the Red Sox (including 17 starts), Dickey is 6-7 with a 4.50 ERA.

It was so good that C Josh Thole, who regularly catches him, had trouble handling it and was charged with two passed balls, one of which led to an unearned run. Dickey allowed seven runs (six earned), eight hits and two walks. He struck out nine. "I had a good one today, really good one," Dickey said. "It was the confluence of a lot of weird things going on out there today. I had a good one and it's something to be encouraged by. The final line is not what I would deem acceptable, but this is a time for all of us to trust the process. For me in particular, there's a lot stuff early in the season to build on early in the season we've just have to stay the course." Dickey is 1-1 with an 8.10 ERA after two starts.

RHP R.A. Dickey will make his second start of the season Saturday when the Blue Jays play the middle game of their three-game series against the Boston Red Sox. The knuckleballer won his first start of the season last Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays despite allowing six hits, two walks and three runs in five innings. He is 6-6 with a 4.23 ERA in 22 games, including 16 starts, against Boston. There was a possibility that he could match up against another knuckleball pitcher, Boston's RHP Steve Wright but a rainout on Thursday pushed each starter back a game so Dickey will face RHP Rick Porcello instead.

RHP R.A. Dickey revealed Sunday that he had offseason surgery for a torn meniscus in his right knee. The knuckleballer was 11-11 with a 3.91 ERA with 214 1/3 innings pitched last season. "I had a knee issue that I tried to work through all year and ended up getting fixed at the end of the season," Dickey said. "My offseason was much more about trying to get to a bit of a lighter weight, get my knee strong, things like that, to be able to endure another 200-plus inning season. ... It was basically a four- to six-week recovery. That's what they always tell you, but for me, it turned out to be a real blessing because I had to focus on getting my body right in a way that I really haven't had to do in a long time because I've always been pretty healthy."

The Toronto Blue Jays exercised 2016 contract options on right fielder Jose Bautista, designated hitter-first baseman Edwin Encarnacion and right-hander R.A. Dickey on Tuesday.The Blue Jays declined a $3 million option on infielder Maicer Izturis, giving him a $1 million buyout instead after an injury-riddled season.The 35-year-old Bautista batted .250 with 40 home runs and 114 RBIs during the regular season in 2015.Encarnacion, 32, hit .277 with 39 homers and 111 RBIs in 146 games this year. He underwent sports hernia surgery recently but is expected to be recovered before spring training begins in February.The durable Dickey, 41, posted an 11-11 record with a 3.91 ERA in 33 starts this past season. Dickey will receive the start in Game 4 should the Blue Jays win Sunday's Game 3 against the Rangers, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.

Rather than throw David Price on short rest, the Blue Jays instead have elected to turn to the veteran Dickey on the mound should the series require it. Dickey would face Derek Holland if the series advances to four games.

Dickey gave up just two hits over five scoreless innings against the Orioles in Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader. He struck out three and did not issue a walk.

Every Blue Jays regular was out after the team clinched the AL East with a win in Game 1, and Dickey did not receive any run support. He too was rewarded with a short day, as manager John Gibbons pulled the knuckleballer after 58 pitches. With the five scoreless innings, Dickey lowered his ERA to 3.91, his lowest mark since mid-April.

Dickey allowed two runs on four hits, he did not walk a batter and struck out two over seven innings of a 5-3 win against Tampa Bay on Friday night.

Dickey (11-11, 4.00 ERA) has now turned in quality starts in five of his last six outings. The Jays are smelling the playoffs and the veteran knuckleballer is feeling it. He has been a bit of a disappointment after being acquired from the Mets, but if he can get it done in the post-season most of that disappointment might evaporate.

Dickey got a no-decision Saturday despite a quality start, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk over six innings while striking out three.

It's Dickey's fourth QS in his last five starts. He'll look to make it five of six in his next start Friday, at home against the Rays.

Dickey gave up one run on four hits and a walk while striking out four in six innings Tuesday in Boston.

He had been 0-3 with a 5.76 ERA in four prior starts against Boston this season, so it was nice to seem him conquer his demons somewhat. Unfortunately the game went into extra innings and Dickey did not qualify for the win. His next start will come Sunday in Yankee Stadium.

Dickey (10-10) dominated the Indians on Wednesday, allowing just a run on four hits while striking out six in a complete-game victory.

Dickey had been going nicely for a while, but he hit the skids over his last five outings, giving up 16 runs over 22.2 innings thanks to a series of long balls. He cleaned things up in this one, though, as Dickey had his way with an Indians lineup that hadn't seen his knuckleball yet this year. Even with the recent skid, he's now come out on the winning side of seven consecutive decisions, and he'll look to make it eight Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Dickey allowed three runs on six hits, walking one and striking out six over 6.2 innings of a 5-3 win over the Tigers on Friday night.

Dickey (9-10, 4.25 ERA) posted a quality start which is often good enough to collect a win with the offense he plays for. The Jays launched three home runs - Dickey allowed just two - as they built a 5-1 lead. He coasted through six innings, but served up a two-run dinger to former Jay Anthony Gose in the seventh which engaged the bullpen for a nice seven out shutdown.
