Sun May 29 201116:16Ibanez homers in loss
Raul Ibanez slugged his seventh home run in Philadelphia's loss to the Mets on Sunday.
Ibanez has now gone deep six times in May after doing so just once in April, and is batting .245 on the season and .317 for the month. As streaky as anyone in baseball, Ibanez will likely endure another tough slump at some point this summer, but as always, should be expected to emerge with a streak of torrid hitting.

Thu May 26 201101:35Ibanez the hero as Philly wins 19-inning tilt
Raul Ibanez ended the longest game in Citizens Bank Park history with a sacrifice fly off Cincinnati's Carlos Fisher in the bottom of the 19th inning on early Thursday morning, sending the Phillies to a 5-4 win over the Reds.
With two on and one out, Reds manager Dusty Baker elected to intentionally walk Ryan Howard, setting up a double play with Ibanez at the plate, who was an ugly 1-for-8 entering the at-bat. He crushed a pitch to deep center, however, scoring Jimmy Rollins to end the six hour, 11 minute test of endurance. Wilson Valdez, who went 3-for-6 (and got the win), was the only Phillie to finish the night with more than two hits. Jimmy Rollins went 2-for-8, Placido Polanco 1-for-8, while Howard went 2-for-7 with a 10th inning home run.

Thu May 5 201122:22Raul Ibanez continues terror of Nats
Raul Ibanez continued his terror of the Nationals Thursday, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in the win.
Ibanez entered the series with Washington hitless in his last 35 at-bats but went 8-for-12 with two longballs and five RBI in the three-game set. He's still batting only .214 on the year but has hit three over the boards while driving in 15 runs.

Wed May 4 201122:06Ibanez emphatically ends slump
Raul Ibanez's slumbering bat continued to awaken on Wednesday evening, as the Philly left fielder went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Nationals.
He is now five for his past eight after enduring an awful 0-for-35 slump. Always a streaky hitter, Ibanez is a good bet to bunch together some multi-hit and RBI games in the coming weeks.

Tue May 3 201121:59Ibanez breaks 35-AB hitless steak
Raul Ibanez went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI in Tuesday's win against the Nationals.
He was hitless in his previous 35 at-bats, so Tuesday was certainly encouraging. Ibanez raised his slash line to a paltry .168/.248/.242 with Tuesday's game.

Mon May 2 201100:42Phillies' Ibanez now 0-for-34
Raul Ibanez went 0-for-4 before being removed from Sunday's game against the Mets, leaving him hitless in his last 34 at-bats.
Ibanez drove the ball pretty well in his first two at-bats, but he had nothing to show for it against Chris Young. The Phillies have Monday off, but Ibanez will probably be back in left field Tuesday when they take on the Nationals and Livan Hernandez.

Sat Apr 23 201100:34Ibanez goes hitless for Phillies
Raul Ibanez went hitless again Friday, dropping his average to .197.
Ibanez has managed to drive in 10 runs in 19 games, even thought he's racked up just three extra-base hits to go along with the lousy average. He'll get more time to pull out of it before the Phillies weight giving John Mayberry Jr. additional starts in left field.

Fri Mar 11 201116:11Ibanez homers, doubles as Phillies romp
Raul Ibanez went 3-for-3 with a homer and a double to lead the Phillies to a 13-6 win over the Orioles on Friday.
Ibanez hit third in Chase Utley's spot today. There's no telling if he'd stay there in the regular season, but it is a possibility with Utley seemingly likely to land on the DL. He's hitting .321 so far this spring.

Wed Mar 9 201116:21Ibanez has two hits in win over Tigers
Raul Ibanez went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored in a 5-3 win over the Tigers on Wednesday afternoon.
Ibanez may have lost some at-bats if Domonic Brown was healthy, but now Ben Francisco will likely play most of the time in right field. While the 38-year-old outfielder spent most of last season batting sixth, he would likely bat fifth if Chase Utley starts the season on the disabled list. Ibanez remains a durability risk for fantasy owners, but his value probably goes up a tad there.

Tue Dec 14 201018:28Report: Phils don't plan to trade Ibanez
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Phillies do not plan to trade Raul Ibanez.
The Phillies are trying to clear some salary in order to make room for Cliff Lee, but Ibanez makes $11.5 million in the final year of his deal in 2011 and would be difficult to move. Keep in mind, the Phillies also lost Jayson Werth in free agency, so they would likely need to find a replacement if they gave up Ibanez in a trade. Meanwhile, according to Rosenthal, the Phillies have discussed Joe Blanton with multiple clubs.

Sat Oct 23 201012:57Ibanez expected to start Game 6
Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said he is leaning towards keeping Raul Ibanez in the lineup for Game 6.
Ibanez sat in Game 4 in favor of Ben Francisco with left-hander Madison Bumgarner on the mound, but he'll start against southpaw Jonathan Sanchez. He had two hits in Game 5, but they were his first two of the NLCS and he is still batting just .185 in 27 postseason at-bats.

Thu Oct 21 201016:08Ibanez is back in Phils' lineup for Game 5
Raul Ibanez is back in the Phillies' lineup for Game 5 of the NLCS.
Ibanez sat out Game 4 against left-hander Madison Bumgarner with Ben Francisco handling left field instead. The 38-year-old Ibanez is 0-for-11 in the NLCS and has only three hits in 24 at-bats this postseason.

Wed Oct 20 201019:26Ibanez sits in Game 4
Raul Ibanez is on the bench with the Phillies facing left-hander Madison Bumgarner in Wednesday's Game 4.
The Phillies would have been better off platooning Ben Francisco and Ibanez all year long, but it's never something they tried. It's taken Ibanez opening the NLCS 0-for-11 to get them to make the move now. Francisco is playing left field and batting seventh.
Wed Sep 15 201022:50Ibanez leads Phils to win
Raul Ibanez went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored as the Phils beat the Marlins Wednesday night, 10-5.
None of the Phillies can do any wrong right now, including Ibanez. He's hitting .320 with two homers and eight RBI in his last 14 games. At this point, it's the ceiling for the declining 38-year-old.
Thu Aug 26 201016:08Phillies' Ibanez goes 3-for-3
Raul Ibanez went 3-for-3 with a double and a walk Thursday in the loss to the Astros.
The Phillies really have nothing to complain about here: after a slow start, Ibanez has bounced back to hit .268/.353/.434 through 429 at-bats. What more should have been expected from a guy who turned 38 in June?
Wed Aug 11 201022:25Ibanez extends hitting streak to 18 games
Raul Ibanez went 2-for-3 at the plate in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers.
Ibanez extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a sixth-inning double, and he added a single in his next at-bat. The veteran is pulling a George Costanza and doing the opposite of what he did last year, when he had a huge first half and a horrid second half. He's batting .393 with four homers and 19 RBI in 84 at-bats this half.

Mon Aug 2 201008:48Ibanez expects to return to lineup on Tuesday
Raul Ibanez (wrist) is optimistic that he will be able to play Tuesday.
Ibanez injured his left wrist while attempting a diving catch in Saturday's game against the Nationals. "It's all right," the outfielder said after being scratched from the starting lineup Sunday. "I'll be all right by Tuesday." He's riding a 10-game hitting streak and had a .952 OPS in July.
