Mon Mar 19 201211:46Adam Dunn (neck) back in lineup Monday
Adam Dunn (neck) is back in the White Sox' lineup on Monday afternoon against the Reds.
Dunn missed a few straight Cactus League games due to neck stiffness. But it was never a major concern in White Sox camp, and he has plenty of time to get properly geared up for the start of the regular season. Dunn is 5-for-17 with two home runs and six RBI so far this spring.

Thu Mar 15 201215:33Adam Dunn scratched again with stiff neck
Adam Dunn was scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Indians due to neck stiffness.
Dunn was also scratched Tuesday due to neck stiffness, but he homered in his return to the lineup Wednesday. He should be back to normal within a day or two.

Wed Mar 14 201219:39Adam Dunn hits another one out
Adam Dunn returned to the lineup with a vengeance Wednesday, drawing two walks and ripping a solo homer in a win over the Angels.
The longball didn't come off just anyone, either, as he took Angels closer Jordan Walden deep. Dunn, who sat out Tuesday's game with a stiff neck, has also taken Neftali Feliz deep this spring and is batting .308 with six walks and just one strikeout this spring.

Tue Mar 13 201214:55Adam Dunn out Tuesday due to stiff neck
Adam Dunn was held out of Tuesday's Cactus League game against the Padres due to a stiff neck.
The White Sox are calling him "day-to-day" and have given no indication that the injury is something to worry about. Dunn is 3-for-11 with a home run and four RBI so far this spring. He's trying to bounce back from an abysmal 2011 campaign.

Thu Mar 8 201219:04Adam Dunn belts first spring homer
Adam Dunn doubled in a run and also launched a three-run homer in Thursday's win over the Rangers.
Well, that's more like it. It wasn't a minor leaguer brought in from the back fields that he homered off of, either, as he took Neftali Felix deep. Dunn, of course, suffered through a woeful first season in Chicago, but he changed his offseason routine and is a good bet to bounce back to at least some degree in 2012.

Sat Feb 11 201212:45Ozzie Guillen says Dunn's woes evident early
Appearing on ESPN 1000 in Chicago, manager Ozzie Guillen said that he and his coaching staff knew that Adam Dunn had major issues going into spring training last year.
"I looked at his swing and I told [bench coach] Joey Cora going home, `We've got a big problem','' Guillen said. ''It was painful to see him every at-bat and walk behind me [in the dugout] with a long face after striking out.'' Dunn, 32, had five consecutive seasons with 40-plus home runs, but managed just 11 homers and 44 RBI in 2011. He is still owed $14 million next season and $15 million in 2013 and 2014.

Sun Jan 29 201222:11GM: Nats not interested in reacquiring Dunn
Nationals GM Mike Rizzo said his club has no interest in reacquiring Adam Dunn.
Unsubstantiated rumors floated earlier this offseason that Washington might take Dunn off Kenny Williams' hands, but Rizzo emphatically denied the scenario. Washington missed out on Price Fielder and projects to go with Adam LaRoche again at first. The 32-year-old Dunn batted just .159/.292/.277 with 11 home runs and a .569 OPS over 496 plate appearances last season for the White Sox. He is still owed $14 million next season and $15 million in 2013 and 2014.

Sat Jan 28 201216:00Dunn looking to get back into good graces
Adam Dunn believes he's on track for a bounce back season after his disappointing 2011 campaign.
"I'm going into this year feeling as good as I've felt in a long time and just ready to get started and quit talking about it,'' Dunn said. ''It doesn't matter where you go, everyone is talking about it. I realize that comes with [the territory], but I really can't wait for Opening Day." Dunn, 32, is coming off a season that saw him hit just .159/.292/.277 with 11 home runs and a .569 OPS over 496 plate appearances. He is still owed $14 million next season and $15 million in 2013 and 2014.

Wed Jan 25 201210:00Adam Dunn swinging bat during offseason
Adam Dunn told Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times that he has been swinging the bat during the offseason.
Dunn usually doesn't swing a bat over the winter, but he's willing to try something different after batting just .159 in his first season with the White Sox. "I've been swinging the bat a little bit and doing things [working out] I've always done, just a little more," said Dunn. "One of my buddies is a former minor-league guy who likes to go over there and see if he can still throw. I wouldn't say I'm hitting five days a week. Some weeks we'll go four times; some weeks we won't go at all." New White Sox manager Robin Ventura believes being a full-time designated hitter contributed to Dunn's struggles in 2011, so it's possible he'll see more playing time at first base and perhaps in left field this season. It's hard to believe things could get much worse for Dunn, so he might end up being a nice value late in mixed league drafts.

Tue Dec 6 201117:10Adam Dunn to see more time in field
White Sox manager Robin Ventura plans to play Adam Dunn more at first base and perhaps some in left field in 2012.
Ventura thinks being a full-time DH contributed to Dunn's struggles in 2011, and it makes some sense given that Dunn repeatedly said that he didn't like to DH and would prefer to play in the field. With Paul Konerko at first base, he's still going to be at DH more times than not, but at least he could retain first base and perhaps regain outfield eligibility for fantasy purposes.

Wed Nov 16 201109:12Adam Dunn expected to swing bat over winter
White Sox general manager Ken Williams said Tuesday that Adam Dunn is expected to swing a bat during the offseason.
Dunn usually doesn't swing a bat during the winter, but the White Sox are hoping a change in his routine will lead to different results in 2012. The 32-year-old batted just .159/.292/.277 with 11 home runs and a .569 OPS over 496 plate appearances this season. He is still owed $14 million next season and $15 million in 2013 and 2014.

Wed Sep 28 201111:04Adam Dunn not in lineup for season finale
Adam Dunn is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's season finale against the Blue Jays.
Dunn went 0-for-2 with two walks and two strikeouts in Monday's win over the Blue Jays, pulling his batting average down to .160 for the season. The White Sox have held him out of the starting lineup for the past two days, presumably so he wouldn't have enough plate appearances to qualify in order to surpass Rob Deer (.179 batting average in 1991) for the worst batting average of all-time. Dunn enters play Wednesday with 493 plate appearances. The veteran slugger can't be much worse moving forward, but the White Sox are still on the hook for $14 million next season and $15 million in 2013 and 2014.

Tue Sep 27 201105:38Dunn to end '11 with higher K total than BA
Adam Dunn went 0-for-2 with two walks and two strikeouts in Monday's 4-3 win over the Blue Jays.
With two games left in the season, it's quite safe to say that Dunn will become the second everyday player in history to own a higher strikeout total (174) than batting average (.160). He needs to go 4-for-4 in each of his last two contests to avoid this fate. Oh, and he's mired in an 0-for-20 slump with 10 strikeouts.

Tue Sep 20 201115:39Adam Dunn doubles twice in loss
Adam Dunn doubled twice in Tuesday's loss, giving him consecutive two-hit games for the first time all year.
Dunn had nine hits in a five-game span back in May, but he hadn't managed to collect two in back-to-back games all year. His batting average is up to .168, which is the highest it's been since he was at .171 on July 4. It'd be nice to see him keep it going from here on in so that he can enter 2012 with some confidence.

Sun Aug 28 201114:29Adam Dunn to see less playing time
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen admitted Sunday that Adam Dunn will see his playing time diminish.
With Dayan Viciedo's promotion and Paul Konerko now ready to play first base, Guillen has more options. Dunn has already been sitting more often against left-handed pitching, but now he'll find himself on the bench some against righties, as well. The free agent bust is hitting just .163/.290/.289 on the year.

Fri Aug 26 201119:42Adam Dunn benched against Furbush
Adam Dunn is not in the White Sox Friday evening lineup against the Mariners and left-hander Charlie Furbush.
A man making $12 million has become so inept with the bat that he can no longer be expected to even get a hit off of Charlie Furbush. Hitting .165 on the season, .170 in August and .181 since the All-Star break, Dunn is a hard-to-believe 3-for-81 against southpaws this season.

Wed Aug 24 201101:02Dunn sees hot streak end
Adam Dunn went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Chicago's loss to the Angels on Tuesday.
Dunn entered tonight in the middle of a veritable tear by his standards, going 5-for-15 in his past four games. Of course, all five hits were singles, and his hot streak failed to get his average above .170 for the first time since July 4. If he's in your mixed-league lineup down the stretch, it's sabotage.

Fri Aug 19 201114:11Dunn out of the lineup on Friday
With the Rangers sending left-hander Matt Harrison to the hill, Adam Dunn is not in the White Sox Friday lineup.
This, despite the fact that Dunn has been white hot by his standards the past three days, going 4-for-11 (all singles) to up his average from .161 to .168. For the season, he is an astounding 3-for-80 (.038) against southpaws.

Fri Aug 19 201103:27Dunn: first multi-hit game in nearly a month
Adam Dunn went 2-for-4 in Thursday's loss to the Indians, marking his first multi-hit performance since July 22.
He finished with more hits and strikeouts for the second straight game -- a feat he last accomplished June 15-16. Quite simply, Dunn is on a roll.
