Torres batted .268/.343/.479 with 16 home runs, 63 RBI and 26 steals over 507 at-bats for the Giants in 2010 in what was an out-of-nowhere breakout season. He'll turn 33 next week.

According to Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News, the Giants are close to an agreement with Andres Torres.
Torres requested $2.6 million and was offered $1.6 million when arbitration figures were exchanged Tuesday. They should be able to settle somewhere around the midpoint of $2.1 million. Torres, who turns 33 in January, batted .268/.343/.479 with 16 home runs, 63 RBI and 26 stolen bases in 33 attempts for the World Champion Giants last season while playing excellent defense.

Torres injured his left hip and upper groin area when he dove headfirst into the first base bag in the ninth inning of Saturday's Game 6 win over the Phillies. He was replaced by Aaron Rowand in center field for the bottom of the ninth, but a team source tells Mychael Urban of CSNBayArea.com that Torres is "looking good."

Andres Torres (hip and groin) hopes to play Wednesday in Game One of the World Series against the Rangers.
He suffered the injuries sliding headfirst into first base on a bunt single in the ninth inning of Saturday night's NLCS Game Six victory over the Phillies. Torres remained in the game to run but was replaced by Aaron Rowand in center field in the bottom of the ninth inning. Torres was 6-for-10 with two walks over the last three games of the NLCS after a disappointing start to his postseason.

Great news. Torres was running the bases pretty hard this afternoon and planned to swing from the both sides of the plate during BP. Just the fact that he is available is pretty incredible.
