Sat Apr 30 201110:51Andres Torres unlikely to be ready May 6?
Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that although there is no timetable for Andres Torres' (Achilles) return, it's unlikely he'll be ready by May 6.
Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reported Friday that Torres could be ready on that date, so we're getting some conflicting information here. Torres has played in two extended spring games to this point, with one of them coming in the outfield. We'll update his status when more is known.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said the possibility of Andres Torres (Achilles) joining the team on their upcoming road trip is a "longshot, but not ruled out."

Andres Torres (Achilles) will continue his rehab at extended spring training and could play in some games there.
The Giants had been holding out hope that Torres could be ready on April 26, a day after he's first eligible to return, but clearly that's not going to happen. He seems to have made some progress, but manager Bruce Bochy was quoted recently as saying Torres isn't coming along "as fast as we'd like." There's no firm timetable for his return.

Fri Apr 22 201119:56Andres Torres' status still up in the air
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Andres Torres' (Achilles) status is still up in the air.
Bochy said that Torres is making progress but "not as fast as we'd like." He still needs to run the bases and do a few other things before we'll get a better idea about his return date. He's eligible to come off the DL on April 25 and could possibly be ready the next day, but that seems unlikely.

Sun Apr 17 201108:54Torres still bothered by Achilles injury
Andres Torres (Achilles) has backed off running or exercises and is wearing an anti-inflammatory patch on the back of his left foot.
"It bothers me a little bit," said Torres. "We want to make sure now that it's 100 percent. I tried to run a few times, but I'm not able to run like I want to. It's better to wait and see how it feels for a couple of days. The main thing is I want to go out there at 100 percent. I don't want to go out there if I'm hurt because that's not going to help anybody, I don't think." Torres will resume activities in a few days, at which point he hopes the soreness has subsided.

Sun Apr 10 201122:35Torres (Achilles) unlikely for Dodgers series
Andres Torres (Achilles) is likely to miss next week's Giants-Dodgers series.
He still might avoid the disabled list. Torres arrived at the ballpark Sunday wearing a walking boot and using crutches, standard protocol for a mildly strained Achilles. "I can't tell you how long until probably Wednesday, and then we'll see where we're at with him," manager Bruce Bochy said. "But he came in today and felt much better, which is good news. Anytime somebody makes progress overnight the way he has, that's always a good thing." Aaron Rowand will be the center fielder while Torres is out.
