Thu Oct 17 201314:53Danny Granger making the trip with team
Danny Granger (strained left calf) will make the trip for Friday's game at Dallas and is listed as day-to-day.
This rules out the idea of Granger missing time with the calf strain he suffered on Wednesday. However, the fact that he's already suffered an injury isn't going to help his case for Comeback Player of the Year. Granger is very likely to start the season slowly, so it'll require some patience for those that want to draft him.

Wed Oct 16 201319:38Danny Granger injures calf on Wednesday
Danny Granger left Wednesday's game early with a left calf injury and will not return.
He really hasn't done much jumping this preseason and this injury could easily be a result of overcompensating for his knee, which he still doesn't appear to have a lot of confidence in. Granger has looked decent at times, but is a long way from looking like the Granger of old, meaning Paul George is still the man. And if Granger does miss time this season, Lance Stephenson would likely be the starter, although he could start over Granger even when he can play.

Thu Oct 10 201311:32Granger struggles with shot Thursday
Danny Granger came off the bench again for the Pacers on Thursday morning, but started the second half.
He struggled, hitting just 2-of-10 shots for nine points in 28 minutes. But the key here is that he's been able to handle more minutes in the preseason than we expected, which bodes well for him getting plenty of run once the real season gets here. Whether he starts over Lance Stephenson or not remains to be seen, but either way, Granger is looking like a better late gamble with each passing day.

Sun Oct 6 201309:47Danny Granger (knee) fine after playing Bulls
Danny Granger (knee) felt fine after playing 29 minutes off the Pacers' bench on Saturday.
He didn't play very well, finishing with six points and zero rebounds, but that's unimportant compared to his confidence in his knee. "My second wind didn't kick in the first half like it usually does," he said, "but it was good to get that one under my belt. Baby steps." Frank Vogel has said that Granger will start at SG once he's up to speed, which would bump Lance Stephenson to a reserve role.

Sat Oct 5 201321:40Granger (knee) quietly returns to game action
Danny Granger (knee) came off the Pacers' bench on Saturday to score six points on 2-of-10 shooting in a loss to the Bulls.
Granger made one 3-pointer and chipped in two rebounds and a steal, but he looked very much like a guy still in a "recovery phase" after a long rehabilitation. We're not reading much into his lackluster debut but it's reasonable to expect a slow month of November from Granger, whether or not he's in the starting lineup to begin the regular season.

Fri Oct 4 201317:20Stephenson starting b/c Granger in recovery
Coach Frank Vogel said Friday that he will probably start Lance Stephenson in Saturday's exhibition game "because Danny [Granger]'s still in a recovery phase."
This implies that when Granger is out of his 'recovery phase' that he's looking at a starting gig, but as we mentioned earlier he makes a lot more sense in the second unit and his minutes aren't likely to vary weather he starts or not. He might actually be a bit more productive off the bench where the Pacers desperately needed offense last season.

Fri Oct 4 201315:25Granger to come off the bench in Sat's game
Danny Granger will come off the bench in Saturday's preseason game against the Bulls, and coach Frank Vogel is targeting "about 24 minutes" for him.
Lance Stephenson will start and it's going to be interesting to see how the Pacers handle Granger this season. He makes a lot more sense coming off the bench where the Pacers struggled to show anything resembling an offensive attack last year, and this could be the first sign of that actually happening. Either way we're targeting 23-29 minutes for Granger whether he comes off the bench or not.

Thu Oct 3 201312:18Danny Granger will play in preseason opener
Danny Granger (knee, back) will play in Saturday's preseason game against the Bulls.
Coach Frank Vogel said he'll probably to start Lance Stephenson because Granger is still in the "recovery phase." Granger suffered a tweak to his back on Tuesday, but he put in a full practice on Saturday. The good news is that he'll suit up for game action, but with the way the Pacers are monitoring his workload, he's not going to be let loose yet.

Wed Oct 2 201316:43Danny Granger tweaks back in practice
Danny Granger tweaked his back on Tuesday and did not participate in practice on Wednesday.
He suffered the injury on a screen play and the severity is not yet known. Granger took part in shooting drills and did some cardio work, so it's safe to say that it's not an injury. It's also good news that this has nothing to do with his surgically-repaired knee.

Sun Sep 29 201309:11Granger practices, but still 'battling knee'
Frank Vogel confirmed that Danny Granger went through Saturday's practice without "any limitations at all."
Granger admitted that he's still "battling the knee" but he can push off without pain, and the rest of his body feels good after playing in just five games last season. He's six months removed from surgery and although he's able to play, doctors have told him that it takes a year to fully recover. The Pacers are likely to be cautious with his playing time, especially with Lance Stephenson capable of taking on big minutes, something fantasy owners should keep in mind on draft day.

Sat Sep 28 201316:44Danny Granger (knee) puts in a full practice
Danny Granger (knee) put in a full practice with the Pacers on Saturday.
"For me, it went honestly better than I expected," Granger said. "I went through the whole practice. I did all the sprints. I played the whole time. I didn't have to sit out or anything so I definitely can feel [my conditioning] coming back." The training staff has a workload monitor on Granger to make sure they don't over do it. He looks to be ready to start the season, but the team may ease him back into action. He'll carry some risk in the second half of fantasy drafts.

Fri Sep 27 201313:44Danny Granger to be camp 'full participant'
Coach Frank Vogel said Friday that he expects Danny Granger to be a "full participant" in training camp as he recovers from knee surgery.
The news on Granger seems to get increasingly better with each day. While he's expected to get some days off, and isn't locked in as a starter, it does appear that his knee is healing and he feels close to 100 percent. "If we have a game tomorrow, my guess is Danny is going for 30," said teammate Paul George. Granger's draft stock has tumbled, meaning he now looks like a potential value pick this season, if he can stay healthy. And that's a big 'if.'

Fri Sep 27 201312:37Hill, George say Danny Granger looks great
Both George Hill and Paul George say that teammate Danny Granger is looking healthy after missing all but five games last season due to a knee injury that required surgery.
Saying he looked to be "98 percent" healthy, Hill added "I think he's back to where he was." We've also heard reports that Granger is going to be brought around slowly and could be on a serious minute count to start the season, while he is also expected to split minutes with Lance Stephenson (and could come off the bench). In other words, let's see how he looks in the preseason before celebrating the return of Granger. But if nothing else, this is definitely good news in his attempted come back after last season's nightmare.

Thu Sep 26 201310:19Danny Granger could become free agent
Danny Granger likely will become a free agent after this season after the Pacers signed Paul George to a huge contract recently.
The Pacers have made it clear they have no plans to pay the NBA luxury tax, so keeping their current team together over the long haul will be a challenge. And while the team is saying Granger looks healthy and ready to go, we still expect him to see limited minutes throughout the early part of the season, and it sounds like this will be his last one with the Pacers. And if he is limited, Lance Stephenson, and not Granger, could be the opening-night starter at shooting guard.

Tue Sep 24 201313:55George: Danny Granger '98 percent ready'
Danny Granger (knees) looks "98 percent ready," according to Paul George.
Granger will address his health during media day on Friday, but George's sentiment has been echoed by numerous Pacers sources. Larry Bird said Granger "looks pretty good to me," while coach Frank Vogel said he's "looking very healthy." The proof will come when he hits the court during training camp and the preseason -- Granger played in only five games last season, and fantasy owners should continue to hedge their bets.

Sat Sep 21 201308:04Danny Granger:
Danny Granger believes the time is now for Indiana.
"There's no more `Wait and let's try to do this'... we have all the pieces, we just have to put them all together and go attack it," said Granger. With the return of all five starters and additions of Luis Scola and C.J. Watson, it's hard to disagree with Granger's sentiment. However, Granger himself is now 30 years old and still on the mend from a knee injury last March. The time may be now for the Pacers but Granger's best fantasy years are behind him.

Thu Sep 19 201309:23Danny Granger not ready to call return date
Danny Granger said Wednesday he doesn't plan on discussing his rehab from knee surgery until media day on September 27.
When asked if playing again was a concern, Granger said: "It's not. It's a four- to six-month rehab and I'm on the fifth month. I'll be ready to get on the court; it's just a matter of when I'm fully ready to play." There is a good chance he's very slow to start the season and could play limited minutes for the first few months of the season. His stock is falling and we'll have to see where he is physically on the 27th. As of now, we'd recommend letting someone else draft him in your fantasy league.

Sat Sep 7 201309:53Danny Granger (knee) scrimmages w/ Pacers
Danny Granger (knee surgery) scrimmaged with Pacers teammates this week.
"He's back on the floor," said Chris Copeland. "He's not 100 percent, but he's looking great." Reports about Granger's rehab this summer have been uniformly positive and it sounds like he might be ready for training camp, the preseason, and opening night. His health will also have a major effect on Lance Stephenson, who will likely come off the bench if Granger is available.

Wed Aug 28 201318:49Danny Granger (knee) now playing one-on-one
Danny Granger (knee surgery) has progressed to playing one-on-one basketball.
Frank Vogel said that Granger is "still limited, but he's on schedule," adding that the Pacers are "very encouraged" by his progress. We're unlikely to know his status for opening night until the Pacers convene for training camp, and the threat of further injuries or an unfavorable trade will hang over Granger during fantasy drafts.

Tue Aug 27 201310:59Danny Granger's knee surgery rehab on pace
Danny Granger (knee surgery) is "on schedule [and] looks good," according to coach Frank Vogel.
The Pacers are "hopeful to have him at full strength," which unfortunately doesn't say much about his availability for opening night. Granger said in June that he'll "gladly defer to younger teammates" and his fantasy oulook is clouded by knee issues and doubts about his role on the new-look Pacers.
