Tue Nov 18 201422:40Young (thumb) made season debut Tuesday
Young (thumb) made his season debut Tuesday. He came off the bench to put up 17 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-5 FT), five rebounds, and one steal in 28 minutes.
The Lakers enjoyed good production up and down the roster Tuesday. Young is worth taking a flier on in 10- and 12-team leagues or larger, but he'll likely only have streaming value in shallower leagues. In 64 games played last season, he averaged 17.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.1 three-pointers in 28 minutes per game. He shot 44 percent from the field and 83 percent from the free-throw line. If you need scoring or three-pointers, Young can help there.

Coach Byron Scott confirmed that Young (thumb) will play Tuesday against the Hawks, Baxter Holmes of ESPN reports.
Young, who practiced in full over the weekend, will be available off the bench, likely holding down a similar role to what he played last season under Mike D'Antoni. The unpredictable guard has proven to be more than capable as a scorer, but he has a penchant for inefficiency and doesn't provide much in terms of assists or rebounds. Scott has not stated whether Young will be on a minutes limit in his first game back, but with a healthy Kobe Bryant at shooting guard, it's hard to imagine Young seeing a heavy workload. Assuming Bryant's body doesn't fail him as the season wears on, Young probably won't touch the 28.3 minutes per game he averaged in 2013-14.
Sat Nov 15 201416:48Young (thumb) full participant at Saturday's practice
Young (thumb), who plans to make his season debut Tuesday against the Hawks, was a full participant at Saturday's practice, Mark Medina of the LA Daily News reports.
Young remains on track to make his season debut Tuesday, though if there's any kind of minor setback, he'd have another chance the following day in Houston. Young will likely eat into the minutes that have been going to Wes Johnson and Xavier Henry.
Fri Nov 14 201415:03Young (thumb) plans to return Tuesday against Hawks
Young (thumb) plans to return Tuesday against the Hawks, Mike Trudell of Lakers.com reports.
Young has yet to play this season after having surgery on his thumb in early October. The team reportedly confirmed Young is on track to play Tuesday, but nothing has been set in stone. Considering it will be his first game back from injury, there's also a chance he'll play in limited minutes, so that's also something to keep in mind. The Lakers play back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday, so Wednesday would be his next opportunity to return if he doesn't play Tuesday.
Wed Nov 12 201418:39Young (thumb) might be able to return to court during next week'...
Young (thumb) might be able to return to the court during next week's three-game road trip, the Los Angeles Times' Mike Bresnahan reports.
The soonest Young could return to the court according to this new timetable would be Tuesday at Atlanta, but owners in weekly leagues should still be a little cautious about deploying him. The Lakers may ease him back into action too, so he may not be a strong fantasy option until the following week.

Young (thumb) was able to dribble and shoot three-pointers in practice Monday but will have to wait until next week to partake in full-court in practice, InsideSoCal.com reports.
The earliest we would expect Young to return would be sometime late next week after getting through practice and it can't come soon enough for the Lakers, who are struggling to produce offense. Last season, Young averaged 17.9 points per game on 44 percent shooting in 28 minutes in the sixth man role. He looks to slide straight back into that role when he makes his debut this season.

Young will have his thumb examined Monday and coach Byron Scott said he will be able to start dribbling and passing with it soon, InsideSoCal.com reports.
Young has been participating in conditioning drills and dribbled and shot with his left hand in recent times, and the Lakers will likely be looking at getting him back toward the end of November. Coach Scott has said he likes Young in the sixth-man role and for the time being, fantasy owners can wait until we get a more defined return date before stashing him onto their rosters.
Mon Oct 27 201413:24Young (thumb) shed cast Monday
Young (thumb) shed his cast Monday, according to a post on his Instagram account.
He remains about five weeks from returning to the court, according to the original eight-week timetable following surgery on his right thumb, but it's a situation worth tracking, as it's possible he could return slightly ahead of schedule.
Mon Oct 6 201419:46Young will miss eight weeks following successful surgery on righ...
Young will miss eight weeks following successful surgery on his right thumb Monday, the Lakers' official site reports.
There was some belief within the Lakers that Young's initial recovery timetable of 6-to-8 weeks could be lessened to as few as four weeks. However, the organization announced after Monday's procedure that a longer absence is the preferred one. Expect Young to sit out the next two months, with a return likely by Dec. 1.
Mon Oct 6 201407:02Young (thumb) initially projected to miss 6-8 weeks
Young (thumb) was initially projected to miss 6-8 weeks, but coach Byron Scott said Sunday that Young's injury should only keep him out between 4-6 weeks, InsideSoCal.com reports.
More will be known after Young undergoes surgery to repair the torn ligament in his right thumb Monday, but a 4-6 week timetable is much better news for prospective owners of Young in fantasy leagues. Previously, coach Byron Scott had touted Young as a Sixth Man of the Year candidate and provides lower end value for fantasy leagues, with his value coming in points, three-pointers, and free-throw percentage.
Fri Oct 3 201420:48Nick Young: Out Eight Weeks With Torn Thumb Ligament
Young has a torn ligament in his right thumb and will miss approximately eight weeks, Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Young was believed to have sprained his thumb in practice, but the injury has turned out worse. With an eight week timetable, he will miss the beginning of the regular season. Xavier Henry is also currently dealing with an ailment, leaving the Lakers pretty thin at the two and three. Henry should be back before the start of the regular season, but the Lakers will be without a man (Young) who accounted for 17.9 points, 2.6 boards and 1.5 assists over 28 minutes on average in 2013-14.
Fri Oct 3 201417:12Nick Young: Sprains Thumb In Practice
Young sprained his right thumb during Friday's practice and will get an MRI to determine the severity of the injury, the Orange County Register reports.
The results of Young's MRI won't be revealed until Saturday, so his status moving forward should be in question until further news is released. Fortunately for Young, the Lakers don't start their season until Oct. 28 which will give the 29-year-old a solid amount of buffer time to recover, regardless of how severe the injury ends up being.
Fri Oct 3 201407:24Young will be Lakers' sixth man this season and coach Byron Scot...
Young will be the Lakers' sixth man this season and coach Byron Scott said he believes he "has a chance to be sixth man of the year," InsideSoCal.com reports.
Coach Scott has already hinted that Young would come off the bench and this now confirms it. Young led the Lakers in scoring in his first season in Los Angeles, averaging 17.9 points per game, but will now have to adjust to playing with Kobe Bryant and although Young will come off the bench, coach Scott stated they will play together at times.
Wed Sep 10 201417:35Young will likely remain Lakers' sixth man this season
Young will likely remain the Lakers' sixth man this season, since new coach Byron Scott prefers his scoring touch off the bench, the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Young enjoyed a career-year in his debut campaign as a Laker last season, scoring a team-high 17.9 points in 28.3 minutes per game primarily as a reserve. The eccentric swingman is expected to continue as Los Angeles' sixth man this season under coach Scott, who finds value in bringing Young's offensive talents off the bench. So while the more defensively inclined Wesley Johnson should start at small forward, Young will remain a key contributor with potential for scoring outbursts off the Lakers' bench.
Mon Jul 28 201409:38Nick Young playing at the Drew League
Nick Young scored 26 points on 21 shots at the Drew League on Sunday.
In his usual fashion, Swaggy P said his nickname is "I Am Legend" at the Drew League. "I've been a one-man show since I started at the Drew League," Young said. "I've been playing at the Drew for a while. I never played with no NBA people on my team or nothing. That's why." He won't have any Will Smith-based nicknames this season with Kobe Bryant around and his production is expected to take a hit after a career year in 2013-14.

Mon Jul 21 201416:56Lakers officially sign Nick Young
The Lakers officially signed Nick Young to a four-year, $21.5 million deal on Monday.
"We are happy to retain such a skilled player committed to being part of what we are building as a franchise," said Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak. Swaggy P had a decent season with the Lakers last year averaging 17.9 points, 2.1 three-pointers, and not much else. Young is a volume shooter, and one shouldn't expect him to put up similar numbers with a healthy Kobe Bryant on the floor next season.

Fri Jul 11 201418:17Nick Young re-signs with Lakers for $21.5 M
Nick Young has re-signed with the Lakers on a four-year deal worth $21.5 million.
Young will remain in LA with his hometown Lakers. He was decent last season, compiling averages of 17.9 points, and 2.1 three-pointers a game, but those results can't be expected when playing alongside a healthy Kobe Bryant. Young really doesn't offer much outside of scoring, and when Kobe is there to take away his opportunities, he's not going to be offering much at all.

Tue Jul 1 201402:16Lakers, others reach out to Nick Young
The Lakers reached out to free agent G/F Nick Young early Tuesday morning.
Young predicted there would be a "riot" if the Lakers don't try to re-sign him, and it looks like we've avoided that potentially chaotic situation. Other teams are also going to be interested in Swaggy P, who averaged a career-high 17.9 point last season for the Lakers.

Wed Jun 25 201418:44Swaggy P being Swaggy P on Wednesday
Nick Young said "there will be a riot" if the Lakers don't do something to bring him back next season.
"They love me. The fans love me," Young said. The team officially announced that Young has opted out of his deal and is now an unrestricted free agent. The Lakers are certainly going to at least entertain bringing him back, but they'll likely exhaust all options for the big-name free agents before turning to Swaggy P.

Tue Jun 24 201415:16Nick Young officially declines player option
Nick Young has officially declined his $1.2 million player option, making him an unrestricted free agent, but he said it would be "a dream come true" to remain with the Lakers.
A source said that Young wants to be a "priority" for the Lakers in free agency, but there are too many moving parts in L.A. to imagine he'll be central in their plans. With only three players under contract (Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Robert Sacre), Young may have been understating the situation when he said, "It's obvious they're going to make some changes."
