The X-rays were negative and he's just "banged up," according to coach Rick Carlisle. Marion should be considered questionable for Friday's game vs. the Pelicans. Vince Carter and Jae Crowder will get some extra shots and minutes vs. the Spurs on Wednesday.

Tue Jan 7 201422:03Shawn Marion out with shoulder contusion
Shawn Marion suffered a shoulder contusion inn Tuesday's game vs. the Lakers and will not return.
He is getting an X-ray on his shoulder and the results should be known soon. If he did only suffer a contusion, that would be good news for the Mavericks. Wayne Ellington started the second half while Vince Carter and Jae Crowder should see bigger roles off the bench. Marion finished with eight points, seven boards and one assist in 15 minutes.

He took a very hard fall in the second quarter of the game and we'll be watching to see if he starts the third. If he misses time, Jae Crowder and Vince Carter would see an increase in minutes.

Shawn Marion (ankle) will play vs. Lakers on Tuesday.
The Matrix needed help walking after Sunday's game and he was limping in the locker room, but a quick recovery has him back in the starting lineup two days later. Deploy him as you normally would, while checking back post-game to ensure that his ankle didn't limit him.

Tue Jan 7 201411:37Shawn Marion's Tuesday status still unknown
Shawn Marion's status for Tuesday's game against the Lakers remains unclear.
The Mavs did not hold a morning shootaround Tuesday, so Marion simply remains questionable. We likely won't know his status until roughly 7:30pm ET, so owners in daily leagues and those with other options should probably sit the Matrix down. Vince Carter and Jae Crowder are candidates to get a bump in minutes if Marion misses his first game of the season.

Sun Jan 5 201422:11Shawn Marion limping after Sunday's defeat
Shawn Marion was limping as he walked into the Mavericks' locker room on Sunday, following a 1-of-6 shooting performance in 31 minutes.
He had just two points, four rebounds and two steals in the Mavs' disappointing home loss, but of greater concern is his unsteady gait after the game. The Mavs play two back-to-back sets this week, beginning on Tuesday and Wednesday, so hopefully we'll get a concrete medical update on Monday afternoon.

Wed Jan 1 201420:54Shawn Marion falls back to earth Wednesday
Shawn Marion returned to form on Wednesday with nine points, nine rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block on 4-of-7 shooting.
It was a solid line for Marion, but a far cry from Monday's 32-point explosion that features six rebounds and four 3-pointers. Marion is having a very nice season and while his best days are behind him, he still offers a fair amount of fantasy value.

Mon Dec 30 201323:15Shawn Marion erupts for 32 points vs. Wolves
Shawn Marion was outstanding in Monday's win over the Wolves with 32 points, six boards, three assists, one steal, one block and four 3-pointers in 32 minutes.
He shot 14-of-19 and didn't turn the ball over as the Mavericks' best player tonight. Marion is past his prime, but he's putting up mid-round value in standard leagues. The Matrix should be able to hold up very nice value all season and his owners shouldn't be looking to sell high unless it's for a stud in return.

Sat Dec 28 201323:51Shawn Marion bounces back from off night
Shawn Marion bounced back from his worst game of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds on 7-of-11 shooting on Saturday.
If he was dropped after his last two duds (4 points in each), he's worth picking up, as he's averaging nine points, seven rebounds and more than a steal per game in December.

Fri Dec 27 201301:06The Matrix gets unplugged in loss
Shawn Marion had his worst offensive game of the season on Thursday, shooting 1-of-9 from the field for four points with six boards, one steal and two blocks in 28 minutes.
The blocks and steal made this a tolerable line and Marion's ability to add stats in so many areas has been a saving grace for over the past decade. He's putting up fourth-round value this year and remains one of the best under-the-radar studs in fantasy hoops.

Thu Dec 12 201301:43Shawn Marion keeps up his consistency
Shawn Marion scored 12 points with nine boards, one assist, two steals, one block and one 3-pointer in 35 minutes against the Warriors on Wednesday.
He's no longer the stud he used to be, but Marion is putting up fifth-round value on the season and should be owned in all leagues. The Matrix's 2005-06 season is the only time a player in the history of the NBA had season averages of a double-double with one steal, one block and one 3-pointer. He won't be that good, but his owners should trust him enough to keep him on their roster.

Tue Dec 3 201323:55Shawn Marion goes for 8 & 10 in win
Shawn Marion had eight points and 10 rebounds on 4-of-10 shooting in 33 minutes on Tuesday.
Marion has really cooled off in his last two games, averaging just 7.0 points and 6.0 rebounds, but the minutes are still there. Chances are he's getting tired, and while he was due to cool off after a hot start, we're not quite ready to write him off after two quiet games.

Sat Nov 30 201323:55Shawn Marion disappears in loss to Wolves
Shawn Marion hit just 3-of-11 shots for six points, two rebounds, three assists, a steal and two blocks in Saturday's loss.
Marion's having a great season, but this is the second time in five games he's posted a dud. We're going to call both of them an off night and owners should look for him to bounce back in the next one. But beware that it will probably be tough for the 35 year old to play at such a high level all season, so some regression to the mean should be expected.

Sat Nov 30 201301:56Shawn Marion double-doubles with three treys
Shawn Marion double-doubled with 15 points on 6-of-14 shooting, 12 rebounds, two steals and three triples in the Mavs' loss to the Hawks on Friday.
Marion attempted eight 3-point shots and he has doubled his attempts from deep on the season, resulting in a jump up to 0.8 triples per game and a five-point drop in field goal percentage (46.4) over last year. It's an exchange fantasy owners are happy to take as Marion cruises along with top 40-55 value in standard formats.

Shawn Marion had a double-double with 13 points, 12 boards, four assists and one steal in 35 minutes against the Nuggets in Monday's 110-96 loss.
He's cruising over his last five with averages of 12.4 points, 6.2 boards, 2.6 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.6 blocks and 1.0 triples in 33.8 minutes. Marion should be owned in all leagues despite being past his prime at age 35.
