Sun Nov 24 201301:02Shawn Marion has a bad night in loss
Shawn Marion shot 2-of-8 from the field for six points during Saturday's 102-100 loss in Denver with five boards, two assists and one steal in 32 minutes.
Marion's last three games have been slightly worse than his previous one, but still he's been solid over his last five, averaging 12.0 points, 5.4 boards, 1.6 steals and 1.4 triples. The Matrix is fine and won't need a revolution to restore his already solid value in fantasy leagues.

Fri Nov 22 201319:19Shawn Marion still expected to play
Shawn Marion (groin) is still expected to play against the Jazz on Friday, according to coach Rick Carlisle.
This is just confirmation from two previous reports. Marion played through his groin issue on Wednesday, logging 35 minutes in the tremendous comeback against the Rockets. He's worth starting in most leagues tonight.

Fri Nov 22 201312:49Shawn Marion (groin) expected to play Friday
Shawn Marion (groin) is expected to play Friday against the Jazz.
Marion left Wednesday's game with the groin injury, but coach Rick Carlisle expects The Matrix to be in the lineup when the Mavs face the Jazz Friday night. Marion has had a renaissance season so far as his averages in minutes, points, steals, and 3-pointers have all exceeded his averages of the past several years. We'll be updating his status as soon as it is available, but it looks like it's safe for fantasy owners to have Marion in their lineups Friday night.

Thu Nov 21 201319:11Shawn Marion says he won't sit Friday
Shawn Marion said that he's not going to let his groin injury keep him from playing on Friday.
He left Wednesday's game and coach Rick Carlisle said this injury is not considered serious. Marion played 35 minutes on Wednesday and he continues to turn back the clock this season with his multiple-category production. His owners should have him for the game against the lowly Jazz, but it doesn't hurt to check back for confirmation.

Thu Nov 21 201316:00Shawn Marion suffered minor groin strain
Shawn Marion left Wednesday's game with a strained groin but the injury is not believed to be serious, according to coach Rick Carlisle.
Marion played the final eight minutes of the game, which bodes well, but as a precaution we'll list him as 'probable' for Friday's game vs. the Jazz. We should have a much better idea of his status after the Mavs' shootaround.

Sun Nov 10 201300:44Shawn Marion double-doubles in win
Shawn Marion had 14 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, a block and two 3-pointers on 6-of-12 shooting Saturday.
Marion's surprising season continued tonight and this was his second double-double of the season. Over his last five games, he's averaging nearly 15 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.2 steals, 1.6 blocks and a 3-pointer per game. Obviously he's enjoying life exclusively at small forward this season and he's a safe fantasy start until further notice. He'll likely calm down at some point, but riding him as long as he's hot makes sense.

Sat Nov 9 201303:06The Matrix bends the spoon again vs. Minny
Shawn Marion continued to turn back the clock with another fat line for owners on Friday, scoring 10 points on 5-of-13 shooting with seven rebounds, three steals and three blocks against the Wolves.
Don't look now but the Matrix has reloaded at age 35 and has jumped out to a top-50 value to start the year. There is no way that he can keep up his current pace and this makes him a bona fide sell-high candidate, as he will likely settle in with mid-to-late round value when he's on the floor for the Mavs.

Thu Nov 7 201301:59Shawn Marion keeps up consistent production
Shawn Marion had yet another effective outing on Wednesday with 17 points, four boards, three assists, two steals, two blocks and two 3-pointers 33 minutes against the Thunder.
He entered the game with averages of 12.8 points, 9.8 boards, 1.5 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.3 steals in 29.3 minutes. While it was a couple The Matrix movies ago, Marion was a perennial top-option in fantasy leagues for his diverse stat lines. Considering he hasn't turned in a dud in any of his five games, he's worth owning in standard leagues.

Wed Nov 6 201300:03Shawn Marion struggles with shot in win
Shawn Marion hit just 5-of-15 shots and a 3-pointer for 11 points, seven rebounds, an assist and a steal in 27 minutes of Tuesday's easy win over the Lakers.
Marion has been playing at a very high level and simply couldn't get his shot to fall. He'll be fine, but it is worth noting that his back up, Jae Crowder, had his best game of the season with 18 points and four 3-pointers in 24 minutes tonight. Keep an eye on this position battle.

Sun Nov 3 201300:46Shawn Marion busts out for 21 points, 14 RBs
Shawn Marion played 34 minutes against the Grizzlies on Saturday and had 21 points, 14 boards, four assists and two blocks.
He only had 19 points combined in the first two games, so this line came out of nowhere. Although, Marion did have four 20-point games in a five-game stretch in April last season and he still has a little left in the tank at age 35. Jae Crowder, who had no points in 16 minutes, still can't put it together, so The Matrix should get most of the minutes at small forward. He's worth a look in standard leagues.

Wed Oct 16 201321:47Shawn Marion plays well in return
Shawn Marion looked good after a night of rest with 18 points and 11 rebounds on 9-of-18 shooting in an exhibition win over the Pacers.
Marion is being forgotten about in many fantasy leagues, but he's going to be able to play exclusively at small forward this year, and is the starter for the Mavs. In other words, he should make for a safe, late pick in most leagues.

Mon Oct 14 201320:37Shawn Marion off on Monday to rest
Shawn Marion did not play in Monday's preseason game so he could rest.
There's nothing to see here except an old dude not suiting up for a meaningless game, and we'll let you know if that story changes.

Mon Jul 29 201315:19Cuban expects Marion to thrive w/ Calderon
Mark Cuban expects Shawn Marion to "love playing with [Jose] Calderon."
"Shawn knows how to use space as well as anybody in the game and we didn't have a guy who could get him the ball," said Cuban, implicitly criticizing former PG Darren Collison. Marion proved surprisingly effective last year, averaging 12.1 points and 7.8 rebounds in 30 minutes per game. Cuban was brutally honest about the Mavs' outlook this season, saying, "if we stay healthy, knock on wood, we can be decent."

Mon Jul 8 201315:29Mavs 'hesitant' to unload Shawn Marion's deal
The Mavericks are "very hesitant" to trade Shawn Marion for salary-cap space, according to the Dallas Morning News.
There aren't many free agents worth unloading Marion for at this point, and the Mavs don't seem interested in sacrificing Marion's "appetizing, expiring contract" to gamble on the health of Andrew Bynum. The Matrix had a true shooting percentage of 53.1 percent last season, his highest mark since the 2007-08 season with Phoenix.

Sat Jun 29 201322:37Shawn Marion won't opt out of $9.3m contract
As expected, Shawn Marion will not opt out of the final year of his contract worth $9.3 million.
Marion could probably land another multi-year deal without too much trouble, even at age 35, but he'd be taking a massive pay cut next season. His name has been a staple of trade chatter, since the cap-conscious Mavs are trying to clear space for their pursuit of Dwight Howard, but so far nothing has come of the rumors.

Wed Jun 26 201323:43Report: Mavs' Shawn Marion won't be traded
ESPN's Tim McMahon is reporting that there is very little chance that Shawn Marion will be traded on draft night by the Mavericks.
In fact, he says there is a zero percent chance Marion is moved, as he would have to approve a deal before June 30, and none have been discussed. This doesn't mean Marion won't be traded at some point after the draft, but if you're expecting a draft-day shocker involving Marion, it doesn't look feasible.

Sun Jun 23 201309:02Cavs rumored to have interest in Shawn Marion
The Cavaliers reportedly have had "serious discussions" about trading their No. 19 pick to the Mavericks for Shawn Marion and the No. 13 pick.
Marion has an expiring $9.3 million option which the Mavs would presumably love to be rid of, clearing extra salary cap space for their pursuit of top-tier free agents. The Cavaliers, according to Joe Kotoch of SheridanSports.com, feel that Marion would be an upgrade over Alonzo Gee at small forward, and they could be targeting Sergey Karasev if they acquire the No. 13 pick.

Sat Jun 22 201314:35Shawn Marion could be dealt to Pelicans
The Pelicans could acquire the 13th pick and Shawn Marion from the Mavs during the draft.
Mavs owner Mark Cuban shot down any trade rumors of Marion, but that won't stop the rumors from flying around. The Pelicans could select Giannis Adetokunbo from Greece since Dell Demps has expressed interest in the forward. As for Marion, despite his career being on the decline, he turned in a solid season with the Mavs in 2012-13.
