Sat Apr 26 201410:37Shawn Marion is ready for Game 3
After rushing home following Game 2 to be with his newborn son, Shawn Marion is now back with the Mavericks and good to go for Game 3.
Marion found out his wife was in labor just before Game 2 but decided to play. However, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban arranged for a speedy departure for his small forward and let Marion use his private jet to expedite his return to Chicago. Marion was terrific in Game 2, notching 20 points, and should be invigorated heading into Game 3.

Thu Apr 24 201415:45Shawn Marion rushes home for child's birth
Shawn Marion rushed home for the birth of his child after the Mavericks 113-92 win over the Spurs.
Marion was great in the win, as the Mavericks avoided losing two straight to start the series. He notched 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting, and grabbed five boards in 35 minutes of action. Dallas will need more performances like this from Marion if they hope to upset the top-seeded Spurs, but clearly the best part of his night was making it home to see the birth of his child. Game 3 isn't played until Saturday and there is no indication that Marion is in danger of missing the game.

Thu Apr 24 201401:46Shawn Marion lights it up for 20 points
Shawn Marion shot 8-of-10 from the field for 20 points vs. the Spurs on Wednesday to go with five boards, two assists, three steals and two 3-pointers in 35 minutes.
He was outstanding after getting limiting run in Game 1. The Mavericks were able to play a faster tempo which has been Marion's bread and butter since his days with the Suns. He is 35 years, but still has a few good years left in the tank.

Mon Apr 21 201409:46Marion, Dalembert, Calderon benched for Mavs
Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle opted not to play Shawn Marion or Samuel Dalembert in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss because he felt his team "needed to score."
The Mavs' offense sputtered out and their defense wasn't any better, particularly when it came to stopping Tim Duncan on the post, and Carlisle admitted that his late-game rotations "may be something ... to reevaluate for Game 2." Jose Calderon was also a spectator down the stretch, watching Devin Harris play PG for the final 17 minutes of regulation.

Fri Apr 11 201400:42Shawn Marion scores 12 points vs. Spurs
Shawn Marion's foot injury didn't seem to hinder him during Thursday's loss to the Spurs, scoring 12 points with three boards, one assist, two blocks and two 3-pointers on 5-of-7 shooting.
He said before the game the top of his right foot has been bothering him, but there is nothing seriously wrong. There aren't many players who can average just 10 points per game and put up decent fantasy value, but the Matrix has been able to do so thanks to his across-the-board production.

Thu Apr 10 201412:32Shawn Marion expected to play vs. Spurs
Shawn Marion (foot) received treatment on his injured foot on Thursday and is expected to play against the Spurs on Thursday.
Marion's been a bit hit-or-miss over the second half of the season but will be a key piece if the Mavericks are going to win their fifth straight game by beating the Spurs tonight.

Shawn Marion injured his right foot during Tuesday's game, but he expects to play vs. the Spurs on Thursday.
Marion landed hard on his foot and injured the top of his right arch, though fortunately for Dallas the injury doesn't seem serious. He kept playing to finish with 10 points and six rebounds in 33 minutes, and is safe to keep active unless the Mavs downgrade his status in the next 24 hours.

Shawn Marion scored 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting with eight rebounds, one steal and one 3-pointer in Friday's road win over the Lakers.
Marion has been an up-and-down play whose risk was mitigated by the Mavs' current four-game week, but he has answered the call and is worth holding for the time-being.

Sun Mar 30 201400:52Shawn Marion plays well in efficient line
Shawn Marion made 5-of-7 from the field for 14 points during Saturday's nail-biting 103-100 win over the Kings with five boards, two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 32 minutes.
His lines haven't been jumping off the page lately and March has been his worst month of the season. Over his previous 13 games this month, Marion averaged 9.8 points, 5.5 boards, 1.5 assists, 0.2 blocks, 1.2 steals and 0.6 triples on 48.3 percent from the field. He's still worth owning in standard leagues in a four-game week.

Sat Mar 22 201402:08Marion goes for 14 and seven vs. Nuggets
Shawn Marion scored 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in Friday's win over the Nuggets.
The Nuggets are terrible defensively but Marion has been coming on lately and is worth adding if he was dropped.

Thu Mar 20 201400:39Shawn Marion puts up a double-double
Shawn Marion had his first double-double of March on Wednesday with 16 points, 11 boards, five assists and two steals on 8-of-12 from the field.
He had not topped six rebounds in any of his previous March games, averaging 8.8 points, 4.8 boards, 0.9 steals, 0.3 blocks and 0.6 triples in 30.8 minutes in that span. Marion's stat lines have been a little boring, but he's still worth owning in standard leagues for his multiple-category production.

Tue Mar 18 201401:49Marion scores 11 points in Mavs win
Shawn Marion scored 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds and two steals in the Mavs' 94-89 win over the Celtics on Monday.
Marion has been up and down lately (and mostly down) but a 19-point, six-rebound outing that included two steals and two threes on Sunday gave owners the green light for this four-game week. To that end, this result isn't too far below expectations but whether or not Marion is truly a standard league asset remains an open question.

Sun Mar 16 201421:57Shawn Marion's 19 points lead Mavs past OKC
The Mavericks ended an 11-game losing streak vs. the Thunder on Sunday, led by Shawn Marion's 19 points, two 3-pointers, six rebounds and two steals.
The veteran SF made 8-of-12 shots, and he did it all while serving as the primary defender on Kevin Durant. Marion contributes enough in most categories to remain a solid option in the Mavs' upcoming four-game week, especially since they're fighting to maintain a 1.5 game hold on the West's seventh playoff seed.

Wed Mar 12 201401:05Shawn Marion scoreless in ugly loss
Shawn Marion missed all six of his shots and failed to score in 26 minutes of Tuesday's blowout loss to the Warriors.
He had three rebounds and two assists, but that is little consolation to Marion's owners. He's been a bit of a mess for the last couple weeks, scoring five or fewer points in three of his last five games. He'll get it turned around at some point, but Marion is far from a must-start given the fact he's averaging just 7.2 points and 4.0 rebounds over his last five games.

Sun Mar 2 201421:42Shawn Marion quiet in road loss to Spurs
Shawn Marion stole the ball three times vs. San Antonio but he finished Sunday's road loss with only five points on 2-of-7 shooting.
Marion padded his line with one 3-pointer, four rebounds, one steal and zero turnovers, and it wasn't a total loss, but his February averages reveal his limited utility -- 9.0 points, 0.5 threes, 6.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.2 blocks.

Fri Feb 28 201423:49Marion posts questionable line in loss
Shawn Marion hit all five of his shots in the Mavs' 100-91 home loss to the Bulls on Friday, scoring 11 points with four rebounds, two assists, one three and no steals or blocks in 30 minutes.
It's going to take more than one highly leveraged line without any defensive stats to recover his must-own status, and if anything this outcome moves the needle in the other direction. As long as Vince Carter continues to cook, this might be a familiar result for Marion.

Mon Feb 24 201423:31Marion has another quiet night
Shawn Marion had another quiet night with four points, four rebounds, two steals and one block in 37 minutes on Monday against the Knicks.
The steals and block are nice but he simply needs to do more after such a prolonged slump. He's not a must-own player in standard formats at this time, but that could change if Vince Carter cools off and backs off at the same time.

Sat Feb 22 201422:45Shawn Marion double-doubles in win
Shawn Marion hit 5-of-12 shots for 10 points, 11 rebounds and a steal in Saturday's win over the Pistons.
Marion has played very well in two straight games after going for 22 points and seven boards on Friday, and is probably worth grabbing if he was dropped in your league (and if you have someone to drop). But it's a small sample size, as he had scored seven or fewer points in his previous three games.

Fri Feb 21 201423:26Shawn Marion scores 22 points in win
Shawn Marion coasted against the Sixers on Friday with 22 points, seven boards, three assists, two steals and no turnovers on 11-of-14 shooting.
It was easy bucket after easy bucket for The Matrix to help the Mavs get the win. Marion was quiet coming into tonight, averaging just 7.0 points, 5.8 boards and 1.1 steals in his last eight games while his shots have been going down. He should remain owned in standard leagues and maybe this outburst will get him going.

Tue Feb 11 201421:37Shawn Marion scores just six points
Shawn Marion was quiet in Tuesday's 114-89 loss to the Bobcats with six points, four boards and two assists in 28 minutes.
he hasn't been the same player since his return from a shoulder injury back on Feb. 5. In those four games, Marion averaged 7.8 points, 5.3 boards, 1.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.8 treys on 51.9 percent from the field. He was a sneaky player to own with mid-round value, so his owners should exercise some patience.
