Mon Feb 21 201119:48Jonny Flynn (groin) doubtful for Tue's game
Jonny Flynn (groin) is doubtful for Tuesday's game against the Bucks, as expected.
It was reported that he might the first two games back from the break, so we highly doubt that he plays on Tuesday. Flynn was unable to make his case while Luke Ridnour was inactive, and it's entirely possible he will return to a strict backup role when healthy. Ridnour should be owned in most formats.

Thu Feb 17 201110:51Flynn to sit out first two games after break?
Jonny Flynn (hip, fatigue) may miss the first two games after the All-Star break, according to the Star-Tribune.
Flynn insists that he has not had a setback -- he's just experiencing soreness in his groin. But the bigger concern is how poor Flynn has played since coming off that major July surgery. He simply has not looked like the mediocre point guard he was as a rookie. Luke Ridnour is locked in here, while Flynn can safely be dropped.

Wed Feb 16 201118:37Jonny Flynn shut down by Wolves
Timberwolves' point guard Jonny Flynn will be shut down for at least a week due to fatigue.
There's not apparently any new injury to report with Flynn - just that he is worn down and needs a break. This is obviously big news for Luke Ridnour, although it's unclear exactly how long Flynn will be out.

Mon Feb 14 201123:41Flynn held scoreless against the Blazers
Jonny Flynn was held scoreless with no statistics other than three missed shots and two turnovers on Monday.
He played 13 minutes and saw Luke Ridnour (35 minutes) leapfrog him, although official confirmation hasn't been passed along yet. Flynn has looked horrible at times, and merely serviceable at others, while filling in for Ridnour. Drop him if you haven't already.
Sun Feb 13 201101:17Jonny Flynn returned to action on Saturday February 12
Jonny Flynn returned to action on Saturday February 12.
Sat Feb 12 201118:42Jonny Flynn (groin) active on Saturday
Jonny Flynn will be active on Saturday despite tweaking his groin injury on Friday.
Flynn will start at PG once again, but with Luke Ridnour returning Flynn (even assuming he can stay healthy) doesn't have substantial appeal.

Sat Feb 12 201101:33Jonny Flynn leaves game with groin injury
Jonny Flynn left Friday's game during the fourth quarter due to a pre-existing groin injury, and finished with four points on 2-of-8 shooting with no rebounds, two assists, and five turnovers in 23 minutes.
We'll have to see how serious the injury is, and Flynn has a bit of boom-or-bust potential right now, but not in a great way. Luke Ridnour's personal situation has the potential to be serious and has opened the window in a big way for Flynn to take the starting gig, but on the other hand Flynn has looked horrible at times, including tonight. Backup Sebastian Telfair could seriously end up playing significant minutes when all is said and done, but if Flynn heals up quick and gets his act together he could be onto something, too.
Tue Feb 8 201123:45Flynn posts decent line with Ridnour out
Jonny Flynn started for Luke Ridnour (personal) and scored 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting (no threes) with four rebounds, seven assists, five turnovers, and one steal in 31 minutes on Tuesday.
Backup Sebastian Telfair continues to be a sparkplug in limited minutes, scoring 14 points with three assists in just 16 minutes. As for Flynn, it was another mixed performance due to the turnovers, and he has yet to have a breakout moment while Ridnour tends to a sick child. It's doubtful he has earned anything but a time-share, and may even return to a clear backup role.
Tue Feb 8 201100:27Jonny Flynn still playing to mixed reviews
Jonny Flynn started for Luke Ridnour (personal) again in Monday's win over the Hornets, and scored 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block in 35 minutes.
Backup Sebastian Telfair saw less time than he has been getting during Flynn's run as starter, playing just 13 minutes with nine points, three rebounds, three treys, and two steals. We learned today that Ridnour's absence has to do with the health of one of his children, which seems like an unlikely time for Kurt Rambis to take away his playing time. Flynn's play has been middling at best, and the best he can hope for is a time-share.
Sun Feb 6 201101:47Flynn gets the start for Ridnour (personal)
Jonny Flynn got another start for Luke Ridnour (personal) on Saturday, and scored 11 points on 5-of-13 shooting (1-of-5 from downtown) with one rebound, four assists, and one steal in 31 minutes.
Backup Sebastian Telfair played 16 minutes and had seven points on 3-of-9 shooting with three rebounds, three assists, and a steal, but the story here are the season-low eight turnovers by the Wolves. That's as close to a break-through moment as Flynn has had in the three-game span that Ridnour has been out, and while it's not a given that Ridnour has lost his job, a time-share sure looks likely.
Sat Feb 5 201120:34Flynn starting at PG, Ridnour status unknown
Jonny Flynn is starting at PG for the Wolves on Saturday against the Nuggets.
Luke Ridnour was on his way to the arena, and he has not yet been seen at the game and the national anthem is being sung. Either way, Flynn and Sebastian Telfair may split duties once again, and Ridnour owners should look in other directions.

Fri Feb 4 201122:49Flynn posts eight points, seven assists
Jonny Flynn started for Luke Ridnour (personal) on Friday, and scored eight points on 4-of-9 shooting (no threes) with one rebound, seven assists, and one steal in 26 minutes of action.
He split time with Sebastian Telfair, who scored 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting (including three treys) with two rebounds and nothing else. Flynn has had his ups and downs in his two-game stretch as a starter, but has yet to have a breakthrough moment. He could be worth a flier in standard leagues, but we're not very optimistic about his chances to earn anything more than a time-share when Ridnour returns. Ridnour's owners should hold on to see if he gets starter's minutes upon his return, but the show may be over for him, too.
Thu Feb 3 201101:11Flynn starts, plays well in Wolves loss
Jonny Flynn started in place of Luke Ridnour (personal) and hit 5-of-9 shots and a 3-pointer for 11 points, four rebounds, five assists and two steals in Wednesday's loss.
Flynn looked pretty good for most of the game, but the job is still Ridnour's until further notice. In other words, we don't see a reason to rush out and pick up Flynn in most leagues.
Sun Jan 30 201100:14Flynn comes out of nowhere for big line
Jonny Flynn came out of nowhere to score 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting (including two threes) with six rebounds, eight assists, and no steals or blocks in 25 minutes off the bench on Saturday.
This size of this line tonight may have been enhanced by the Wolves running away with things late, but make no mistake, Flynn had more minutes than Ridnour by halftime and officially threw his hat into the ring tonight. If you're desperate at PG in standard leagues you could take a look at him, but the likely time-share is probably going to wipe both players' value out.
Tue Jan 18 201111:05Flynn not going to D-League
Coach Kurt Rambis shot down any speculation that Jonny Flynn would be headed back to the D-League.
The way Flynn has played since coming back from hip surgery is concerning. Over the last eight games, he's averaging just 3.1 points and 1.8 assists in 15 minutes a night. Flynn's surprising woes have allowed Luke Ridnour to lock on to 32-35 minutes nightly.

Thu Jan 6 201111:52Flynn plays entire fourth quarter Wednesday
Coach Kurt Rambis said that Jonny Flynn is "still in the early stages" of his getting his rhythm back.
Flynn missed the first 24 games of the season due to hip surgery and then tweaked an ankle last week. He's clearly not himself and not ready to assume full-time duties from Luke Ridnour. That may not happen at all this season, leaving Flynn as a weak fantasy option.

Tue Jan 4 201100:08Flynn (ankle) returns to action on Monday
Jonny Flynn (ankle) returned to action on Monday, playing 13 minutes without scoring on three shot attempts with one rebound, two assists, and one steal.
He has not shown any traction in making the PG slot in Minny a time-share, let alone carving out any fantasy value even in deeper leagues. He shouldn't be owned in standard leagues, and in deeper formats feel free to cut him for a hot free agent.
Mon Jan 3 201110:26Jonny Flynn (ankle) expects to play Monday
Timberwolves guard Jonny Flynn (sprained ankle) practiced Sunday and expects to play Monday night against the Celtics.
Flynn has been mentioned in trade rumors and continues to backup veteran PG Luke Ridnour, making him waiver wire material in most fantasy leagues.

Sat Jan 1 201118:40Jonny Flynn out Saturday w/ sprained ankle
Jonny Flynn won't play on Saturday due to a sprained right ankle.
Flynn will test it in practice on Sunday and is listed as day-to-day. He has failed to wrest the starting job from Luke Ridnour, and with Ricky Rubio inbound next season it's no surprise that he's been mentioned in trade rumors.

Thu Dec 30 201018:47The T'Wolves are shopping Flynn
The Minnesota Timberwolves are shopping point guard Johnny Flynn for a trade.
The Wolves are still hoping to get Ricky Rubio on the team, and Luke Ridnour has been playing very well, making Flynn the odd man out. The only real fantasy news here is that Ridnour has been playing well and has a firm grip on the Wolves PG job.
