Thu Feb 21 201310:15Report: Suns will not buy out Jermaine O'Neal
Updating a previous item, the Suns are to expected to buy out Jermaine O'Neal to accomodate Marcus Morris' arrival.
The Suns will have to release a player, but it apparently won't be O'Neal. Of course, if the Suns send Sebastian Telfair to Toronto for a future pick, that would help solve the roster crunch.

Thu Feb 21 201307:17Report: Suns could buy out Jermaine O'Neal
The Suns could buy out Jermaine O'Neal to accomodate the acquisition of Marcus Morris, and if that happens, the Knicks will be "at the front" of the line to sign O'Neal, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
We passed along a report that the Knicks were interested in trading for O'Neal, but it's possible that they'll just sign him if he's bought out. Remember, the team doesn't know what Rasheed Wallace (foot) can give them the rest of the way this year, so O'Neal might actually make some sense.

Thu Feb 21 201301:24Jermaine O'Neal stays hot on Wednesday
Jermaine O'Neal kept it going on Wednesday with 17 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks on 7-of-13 shooting in just 23 minutes.
He's clearly outplaying starter Marcin Gortat these days and has looked good for two weeks now. He's a very risky pickup based on his legs, age and overall health, while he also will have to deal with watching his daughter undergo heart surgery on March 5. But any way you slice it, O'Neal's numbers warrant him at least being given a long look in many leagues, although we still don't trust him.

Wed Feb 20 201308:11Report: Knicks interested in Jermaine O'Neal
The Knicks are interested in trading for Jermaine O'Neal, sources told ESPN's Chris Broussard.
We'll let you make your own joke here. The last thing the Knicks need is another old, injury-prone big man, but this is the same team that signed Rasheed Wallace this season.

Wed Feb 20 201301:15Jermaine O'Neal stays hot in win over Blazers
Jermaine O'Neal, whose daughter will have heart surgery on March 5, stayed hot on Tuesday with nine points, 13 rebounds and zero blocks in 20 minutes.
O'Neal came in averaging 10.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over his last five games, and looked good again tonight. It's hard to say whether his body will hold up, or how many games he'll miss while dealing with his daughter's health concerns, but he's actually outplaying starter Marcin Gortat right now. Gortat had 12 points, five rebounds, a steal and block tonight, and came into this one averaging 9.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and just 0.6 blocks over his last five. And no, we're not suggesting you drop Gortat for O'Neal, but just pointing out how badly Gortat has been playing.

Mon Feb 18 201308:17Jermaine O'Neal dealing w/ personal situation
Jermaine O'Neal's daughter, who is 13 years old, will have heart surgery on March 5, and O'Neal is not currently thinking about Thursday's trade deadline.
Our thoughts and prayers to O'Neal, his daughter and his family during an understandably difficult time. O'Neal has had heart issues of his own this season, and now he'll focus on his daughter's health. "For me, it's one thing after another. I haven't even had a chance to think about that (trade possibilities). If they want me to do something to help the team, I'm for it." The Arizona Republic speculates that the Mavericks or Thunder could be interested in him.

Wed Feb 13 201303:15Jermaine O'Neal turns back clock Tuesday
Jermaine O'Neal had 12 points, a season-high 13 rebounds and a season-high five blocks in 27 minutes on Tuesday.
He played some serious D against the Lakers and looked like a different player from the one we've seen for most of the last three years. This was just his second double-double of the season, but he is averaging 10.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over his last five games. And with Marcin Gortat completely lost under Lindsey Hunter right now, JO could continue to get some nice run. His next injury is likely just around the corner, but he's playing well enough to be given a look in some leagues.

Sat Feb 9 201301:51O'Neal scores 12 points with six boards
Jermaine O'Neal scored 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting with six rebounds and two blocks in 23 minutes off the bench on Friday.
O'Neal has been producing low-end numbers since his return, but one would have to be in a very deep league to take the plunge given this man's health.

Tue Feb 5 201323:23Jermaine O'Neal plays well in return
Jermaine O'Neal returned from a heart ailment and had 14 points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block on 5-of-7 shooting in 25 minutes on Tuesday.
If he could just stay healthy he'd be worth a look, but he's more likely to leave his next game with another injury than to play this well again. Just keep an eye on him. Starting center Marcin Gortat was 8-of-10 for 20 points and seven boards, and is not threatened by the return of JO.

Thu Jan 31 201315:35Jermaine O'Neal gets medical clearance
Jermaine O'Neal (irregular heartbeat) says he's been given medical clearance and hopes to return Saturday.
If he can't play Saturday, O'Neal said he'll definitely be back in time for Tuesday's game against the Grizzlies. All that said, his role upon returning is very much in flux. JO's role was limited to begin with in Phoenix and that was before an expletive-filled confrontation with GM Lance Banks last week. He has almost no fantasy value in all formats.

Sat Jan 26 201320:52Jermaine O'Neal out on Saturday vs. SAS

Fri Jan 25 201314:56Jermaine O'Neal three days away
Jermaine O'Neal (irregular heartbeat) says he's about three days away from being able to play.
It's unclear exactly what O'Neal's role will be upon his return. He had an expletive-filled confrontation with GM Lance Blanks Monday and doesn't sound thrilled about playing for Lindsay Hunter. The rebuilding Suns are better off just giving their younger assets like Markieff Morris and Michael Beasley more burn.

Fri Jan 25 201302:26Jermaine O'Neal has an irregular heartbeat
Jermaine O'Neal revealed he has an irregular heartbeat that began on Tuesday and he will join the team on this weekend's road trip.
He has his medication for the ailment and it's still unclear how long he will remain out of the lineup. The Suns don't have any depth behind Marcin Gortat at center, but they won't be rushing JO back with something as serious as a cardiovascular problem.

Wed Jan 23 201321:57Jermaine O'Neal will not play on Thursday
Jermaine O'Neal will not play against the Clippers on Thursday due to an "undisclosed medical condition."
He had multiple tests on the issue and this sounds like it could be cause the 34-year-old center to miss multiple games. The Suns don't have a backup center, so Marcin Gortat should be busy with Luis Scola also getting minutes at center in a smaller lineup.

Wed Jan 23 201310:27O'Neal didn't practice Tuesday w/ med issue
Jermaine O'Neal did not practice on Tuesday "due to a medical issue that prompted his wife and mother to travel t Phoenix."
This comes after O'Neal denied that he and Lance Blanks had a "loud, expletive-laced confrontation on Monday." O'Neal is reportedly dealing with a "very personal issue," and is going to get a "clearer diagnosis" on Wednesday. We're not expecting O'Neal to be a big part of the Suns brutal picture moving forward.

Jermaine O'Neal (back) did not practice Tuesday.
The oft-injured O'Neal is dealing with continued spasms. He's fallen well behind Marcin Gortat anyway, averaging just 11.4 minutes over his last seven games.
