Tue Jun 7 201110:25Baron would start over Irving to begin year?
Coach Byron Scott said that Baron Davis is his starting point guard no matter who the Cavs draft.
Scott made the comments during the regular season, before he knew that the Cavs would get their hands on Duke PG Kyrie Irving. Still, it makes sense. Irving just turned 19 in March and missed half of his only college season due to injury. We'd expect Davis to groom Irving for at least 30 games before the rookie takes over.

Mon Jun 6 201109:58Baron Davis showing veteran leadership in CLE
According to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon-Journal, Baron Davis has emerged as a vocal leader for the Cavaliers.
Davis has barely been with the organization for four months, but he clearly knew what he was getting into when he was shipped to Cleveland at the trade deadline. He'll likely prove to be a good samaritan for as long as he's with the franchise, even if he winds up coming off of the bench before the first 30 games of the regular season conclude.

Thu Jun 2 201119:19Davis ready to play mentor role
Baron Davis said he'd be thrilled if the Cavs draft Duke PG Kyrie Irving and is excited for a mentor role.
Davis knew what he was getting into when he was traded to the Cavs. He's an aging veteran that is part of a rebuilding process and he gets that. By not making a fuss, he'll make the transition to Irving easy. We'd expect Davis to start at the outset of the season, but a relatively even timeshare is likely.

Sun May 29 201110:49Baron Davis reportedly in better shape
Baron Davis is reportedly "working hard at getting in shape ... he was in Cleveland recently working out and appears to be in much better shape."
As noted in the same paragraph, Davis arrived in Cleveland last season "with knee and back problems and was overweight." We're wary of all glowing offseason reports, particularly in May and with a potential lockout ahead, and even more skeptical when it comes to Baron's conditioning. Time will tell.

Wed Apr 13 201118:46Baron Davis out for season finale
Baron Davis will not play in Wednesday's season finale due to his sore back.
Reports are that Ramon Sessions and Anthony Parker will start in the backcourt, so Davis is done for the year.

Sun Apr 10 201100:46B-Diddy, Sessions keep things moving
Baron Davis scored 19 points on 8-of-17 shooting (including two threes) with three rebounds, six assists, and one steal in 27 minutes on Saturday.
He is cruising along, and so is Ramon Sessions for the most part, as Sessions got back on board the productivity train with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting with three rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Keep trotting both of them out there until further notice, though Sessions is not a must-start player.

Fri Apr 8 201123:13Baron Davis goes for 10 & 6 in loss
Baron Davis started again on Friday on 4-of-12 shooting for 10 points and six assists in a loss to the Bulls.
He was 0-for-3 from downtown, but it appears he'll continue to start for the hapless Cavs. Ramon Sessions added 13 points and zero assists in 18 minutes, while Anthony Parker started and scored six points, and Daniel Gibson had 14 points and a three on 6-of-9 shooting off the bench. All are better options than Christian Eyenga, who failed to play again after falling out of the rotation due to a lack of defense.

Wed Apr 6 201121:57Baron Davis double-doubles in Cavs win
Baron Davis had 19 points, 12 assists, three steals and three 3-pointers on 7-of-18 shooting as the Cavaliers beat the Raptors on Wednesday.
Baron is back and it looks like he actually plans to finish out the season. Keep using him as long as he's playing. Ramon Sessions added 15 points and two assists off the bench, despite playing just 18 minutes.

Sun Apr 3 201122:38Baron Davis has 22 points in 25 minutes
Baron Davis racked up 22 points, six assists, five 3s and two steals in just 25 minutes during Sunday's loss to the Knicks.
Davis' per-minute stats continue to be massive, but the Cavs are not turning the oft-injured veteran loose. He has not played more than 26 minutes in any of his last six games. Meanwhile Ramon Sessions had 10 points and eight assists tonight as the other part of this timeshare.

Fri Apr 1 201122:22Baron, Sessions play well in loss to Wiz
Baron Davis double-doubled with 10 points and 11 assists on 4-of-12 shooting, and Ramon Sessions added 26 points on 9-of-16 shooting in 25 minutes off the bench in Friday's loss.
No other Cleveland guards have really stepped up, including Anthony Parker and Daniel Gibson, meaning Sessions continues to have fantasy value. Davis does to, as long as his back isn't acting up.

Wed Mar 30 201122:03Baron Davis scores 11 in another start
Baron Davis started again on Wednesday and had 11 points and six assists in just under 25 minutes.
He's worth starting as long as he's healthy and starting for the Cavs, but remains a possible shutdown candidate as soon as his back flares up.

Wed Mar 30 201100:44Baron starts, gives Cavs winning attitude
Baron Davis started at PG in the Cavs' 102-90 win over the Heat on Tuesday, scoring 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting (including two threes) with no rebounds, seven assists, and one steal in 24 minutes.
Should he continue to play, this could become a common sight. His knee is visibly bothering him on the court and his back is also an issue. Deploy Davis with caution going forward, and Ramon Sessions should be owned in most (if not all) formats going forward. J.J. Hickson added 21 points and 12 boards in the win.

Tue Mar 29 201111:16Baron Davis ready to move into starting five
Baron Davis will start in Tuesday's game against the Heat.
Just yesterday, Davis said that he didn't feel ready to play starter's minutes. But with the Cavs' putting everything they have into tonight's game vs. LeBron James, he's gets the nod. Davis' per-minute production in Cleveland has been spectacular, so we'd get him in all lineups as he stares at 30-35 minutes. Ramon Sessions will be a risky play now that he projects for 22-26 minutes off the bench.

Mon Mar 28 201113:45Davis a couple games away from starting role
After repeated questions about his status as the starting point guard in Cleveland Baron Davis shared that he feels he is "a couple games away" from being ready to take on that role.
Coach Byron Scott has already made it clear that the role is Davis' when he wants it. He doesn't sound like he's in a particular hurry and stated that he enjoys coming off the bench. Ramon Sessions owners still have a few games to breath but the writing is clearly on the wall.

Sat Mar 26 201102:28Baron (back) returns on Fri, hits key three
Baron Davis (back) returned to action on Friday, hitting 6-of-13 shots from the field (including four threes) on his way to 16 points with four rebounds, five assists, and one block in 24 minutes.
He has automatically become the team's go-to guy, and hit a 3-pointer to clinch the game with 9.9 seconds left tonight. For as long as he can stay healthy, Davis will be a must-start player in daily leagues, but in a weekly league he will be a tough play until he gets a clean bill of health.

Fri Mar 25 201110:37Baron Davis still on pace to start Friday
Baron Davis remains on pace to return from his back injury on Friday -- he's likely to start at point guard, but isn't sure how many minutes he can play.
Davis initially said he would play just 10-15 minutes, but qualified that when he found out Byron Scott may start him. Baron's poor health has prevented a full-blown timeshare with Ramon Sessions from developing, but it seems that's where this is headed.

Thu Mar 24 201113:10Baron Davis probable for Friday, would start
Baron Davis (back) is listed as probable for Friday's game against the Pistons and will start if he plays.
Ramon Sessions will head back to the bench. Davis has missed six of the last seven games, so it's unclear what kind of shape he is in. But as the obvious best player on the roster, he'll have the ball in his hands every time down the court. Once at full strength, we'd expect about 31-33 minutes for Davis and 24-26 for Sessions.
