Thu Mar 29 201200:22Baron Davis plays well, but gimpy
Baron Davis had 11 points, seven rebounds, six assists and a 3-pointer on 4-of-7 shooting in 25 minutes of Wednesday's cake walk over the Magic.
This was a much better showing than Tuesday's performance, but keep in mind that Jeremy Lin should be back soon. It's also worth noting that there were reports of Baron's hamstring and back bothering him, and he could go down again at any moment. But any time Lin's not going to be in the lineup, Davis is worth a short-term look in nearly all leagues.

Tue Mar 27 201200:38Baron Davis struggles in start at PG for NY
Baron Davis started in place of Jeremy Lin (knee) and had 13 points, five rebounds, seven assists, a 3-pointer and nine turnovers on 3-of-12 shooting in Monday's win.
Lin hopes to play on Wednesday against the Magic, which could make Baron's run as a starter a short one. And given tonight's damage to field goal percentage and turnovers for his owners, that might not be a bad thing. If Lin is out again on Wednesday, Davis would still be a possible starting option in fantasy, as he can't play much worse than he did tonight.

Mon Mar 26 201220:30Davis leads list of starters on Monday
Baron Davis, Iman Shumpert, Landry Fields, Carmelo Anthony, and Tyson Chandler started Monday's game against the Bucks.
Davis is going to be worth watching in most formats, but owners will want to consider his minute-limit and his health before going all in. Jeremy Lin (knee) is also day-to-day and has a good chance of playing on Wednesday. As for Shumpert and the rest of the wings, it's still likely that a different guy will get hot every night - but there is value to be had with Amare Stoudemire's minutes being absorbed into the rotation. We'll see how it all plays out, but be ready to move if one of the wings separates from the pack.

Thu Mar 22 201207:50Baron Davis returns to action on Wednesday
Baron Davis returned to action on Wednesday with five points, an assist and two steals on 2-of-7 shooting.
B-Diddy played 12 minutes compared to 36 for Jeremy Lin, so clearly the talk of Davis overtaking Lin was overblown at this time. Davis belongs on waiver wires in standard-sized leagues.

Wed Mar 21 201217:47Baron Davis (hamstring) will play vs. Sixers
Baron Davis will return from his hamstring injury vs. the 76ers on Wednesday.
Baron will be part of the rotation, but he's not a threat to Jeremy Lin's starting gig. He's averaging 4.8 points on 35 percent shooting this season and is unlikely to hold value in average leagues.

Tue Mar 20 201212:57Mike Woodson hoping Baron Davis returns Wed.
Mike Woodson is hoping to have Baron Davis (hamstring) back on Wednesday against the Sixers.
"We've just got to wait on him. We're not going to rush him," Woodson said on Tuesday. "He's a big part of what we do." Jeremy Lin will likely see a boatload of minutes with Mike Bibby acting as his primary backup while Davis is sidelined.

Tue Mar 20 201211:33Baron Davis ruled out for Tuesday's game
Baron Davis (hamstring) won't play on Tuesday against the Raptors.
Jeremy Lin will play major minutes with the aging Mike Bibby expected to be his primary backup. There is a possibility that Toney Douglas finally gets into a game as well, but we're not getting excited about it.

Mon Mar 19 201219:44Baron Davis (hamstring) is day-to-day
Baron Davis (hamstring) is being called day-to-day and is shaping up to be a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against the Raptors.
Davis has put up decent per-minute numbers in a backup role, but as you can see owners are going to have a hard time relying on the oft-injured point guard. Let's wait to see him get healthy before giving him the green light as a low-end, deep-league play.

Mon Mar 19 201212:44Baron Davis practicing on Monday
Baron Davis (hamstring) is participating in practice drills Monday.
Davis remains questionable for Tuesday's game against the Raptors. Either way, new coach Mike Woodson has already stated that Jeremy Lin is his starting point guard. Woodson has led the Knicks to three straight wins since taking over last week.

Sun Mar 18 201209:42Baron Davis targeting return on Tuesday
Baron Davis is targeting Tuesday's game for his return from a hamstring injury.
Davis' injury is apparently quite minor, but just because he's "targeting" a game does not mean that he'll actually be ready to play, or make it through the game without a setback. There's not enough upside here to gamble on the ailing veteran in average leagues.

Fri Mar 16 201222:29Davis (hamstring) will not play Saturday
Baron Davis, who injured his right hamstring on Friday, will not travel with the team to Indiana where they will face the Pacers on Saturday.
If Davis misses an extended period time, which is likely, look for Mike Bibby to fill in for him backing up Jeremy Lin.

Fri Mar 16 201220:32Baron Davis leaves with hamstring injury
Baron Davis left Friday's game in the first half with a right hamstring injury, went straight to the locker room and will not return.
Mike Woodson got a quick reminder of why he needs to rely on Jeremy Lin going forward, as Davis simply can't stay healthy at this stage of his career.

Wed Mar 14 201210:38Baron Davis (stomach) probable for Wednesday
Baron Davis (upset stomach) is probable for Wednesday against the Blazers.
It sounds like B-Diddy will be just fine for Wednesday's affair. Davis has played under 20 minutes in each of New York's last two games and is not an option for owners in standard-sized leagues.

Tue Mar 13 201200:01Davis posts low-end line on Monday vs. CHI
Baron Davis scored seven points on 3-of-6 shooting (no threes) with three rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block in 18 minutes off the bench on Monday.
Davis has settled into a backup role quite nicely, which is probably best for him at this stage in his career. If you're in a deeper format, his recent numbers are going to be there despite the limited minutes that he plays.

Sun Mar 11 201216:06Baron Davis scores eight points Sunday
Baron Davis scored eight points with three rebounds and three assists on Sunday against the 76ers.
He played only 13 minutes, and he isn't receiving enough playing time behind Jeremy Lin to warrant a pickup right now.

Sat Mar 10 201202:36Davis posts 9-5-9 line in 31 minutes vs. MIL
Baron Davis scored nine points on 4-of-10 shooting (including a three) with five rebounds, nine assists, and two steals in 31 minutes off the bench on Friday against the Bucks.
This was a strange game with a frenetic pace, and it was most certainly an outlier. Meanwhile, Davis' play is also hard to gauge, as sometimes the per-minute numbers are there but his overall contribution to the team is iffy, at best. He's certainly not worth picking up in 12-14 team formats, but we'll be watching closely to see how this all plays out. And no, he's not a threat to Jeremy Lin.

Sun Mar 4 201216:46Baron Davis sporadic against Celtics
Baron Davis had an up-and-down game on Sunday against the Celtics, scoring eight points and dishing out seven assists, while also committing six turnovers.
Davis received some extra run in the first half because Jeremy Lin was in foul trouble, and every offensive possession that he was apart of was a true adventure. Davis made a number of pretty passes, but also threw the ball all around the arena, as well. Still, he looked much better and could be well on his way to earning more minutes. Continue to monitor him.

Sat Mar 3 201210:16Baron & Lin to play together for Knicks?
Baron Davis and Jeremy Lin shared the Knicks' backcourt during a scrimmage on Friday, but Mike D'Antoni is uncertain whether he'll deploy them simultaneously during games.
"They can play together because Baron can guard bigger guards so that's definitely a possibility," said D'Antoni. "Whether you want that or not we'll see because that means JR, Shumpert, Novak, Melo, somebody's not playing. That's hard. You have to be really good together." Baron and Lin didn't play a second together on Wednesday and we're not projecting much from this tidbit, but it's worth watching for on Saturday.

Fri Feb 24 201207:32Baron Davis still working out the kinks
Baron Davis said his goal is to "peaking by April."
Davis said he didn't want to be judged on a game-by-game basis because he hasn't played in so long, but he hasn't shown much in a reserve role thus far behind Jeremy Lin. "It takes time to feel comfortable and start popping wheelies again," said Davis, indicating that he's still working his way back into the flow of the game. He belongs on waiver wires in standard sized leagues right now.

Mon Feb 20 201223:12Davis makes his debut, looks slow and old
Baron Davis (back) made his Knicks debut on Monday, scoring three points on 1-of-2 shooting with one assist in just under 10 minutes.
Davis' only make was a three, and he looked very slow and very old, unsurprisingly. When shadowing opposing ball-handlers in the full court at full speed, Davis looked unsure of his footing and afraid to open it up. Perhaps those things will change with time, but nothing we saw gave us the impression that he's capable of handling more than spot-minutes.
