Tue Jan 24 201218:23Baron Davis (back) unlikely for Wednesday
Baron Davis was not pleased with his performance in New York's scrimmage on Tuesday, making a return for Wednesday's game against Cleveland unlikely.
B-Diddy is getting very close, but it sounds like he will be out at least one more game. The Knicks desperately need his playmaking ability in the lineup as they will likely ease him back into the backcourt rotation for a few games before letting him go full throttle.

Tue Jan 24 201210:55Baron Davis not ruled out for Wednesday game
Mike D'Antoni would not rule out Baron Davis (back) for Wednesday's game against Cleveland.
However, he won't play on Tuesday against the Bobcats. The Knicks had been hopeful Davis would make his debut by the weekend, but it may come before that. D'Antoni said that Davis would play "limited" minutes when he first returned, and Davis acknowledged that he has to get his conditioning in order. It's time to grab him off waivers and stash him on the roster if he's still available in your league.

Mon Jan 23 201214:56Baron Davis will play limited minutes for now
Coach Mike D'Antoni said that Baron Davis (back) will play limited minutes at first.
Davis practiced for the first time all season on Monday and is targeting Saturday at the latest for his return. But even he knows he has a long way to go. "Everything (is rusty)," Davis said. "Stamina, timing. I couldn't play dead in a movie if I was asked to." Look for the Knicks to ease Davis in off the bench for at least a week before he pushes Landry Fields and Toney Douglas for minutes. Remember that Davis, 32, was nearly was forced into retirement a few months ago due to back woes.

Mon Jan 23 201210:56Baron Davis (back) begins practicing w/ NYK
Baron Davis (back) will practice with the Knicks on Monday.
How Davis reacts to the increased activity will tell us plenty about how near he is to actually playing, but a return this week seems possible. His minutes may be limited at first, and he'll have his hands full directing the Knicks' disjointed offense, but it's time to grab him off waivers.

Sat Jan 21 201218:26Baron Davis ready for 3-on-3 next week
Mike D'Antoni said Saturday that Baron Davis is "getting close" and that he should be ready for 3-on-3 scrimmaging next week.
He's recovering from a back injury and if the 3-on-3 goes well our guess is he could be playing for the Knicks by next weekend. He's likely going to be injured a lot this season, but if you need a point guard, now is the time to pick Davis up and stash him.

Sat Jan 21 201212:03Baron Davis (back) still out indefinitely
Baron Davis (herniated disc) still hasn't been cleared for contact, and there is no clear date for his return.
"Before I even got here, I didn't think I'd be able to play basketball the way I was feeling," said Davis. "At this point, I think the whole purpose is to get to practice ... which is my main concern right now." Baron's return isn't likely to save the Knicks or fantasy owners, but he's worth stashing as he could return within a few weeks.

Mon Jan 16 201209:34Baron still targeting late Jan., early Feb.
Baron Davis could begin contact drills as soon as Monday, but he's not expected to play until late January or early February.
Mike D'Antoni sounds eager for Davis to join the rotation. "We'll have a little adjustment phase but we're adjusting with a really good point guard," he said, "so that's an adjustment we'll make readily." He could easily assume the starting PG job right away, which would crush whatever value Mike Bibby and Toney Douglas might still have.

Sun Jan 15 201210:17Baron Davis still on pace for late-January
Baron Davis could be cleared to practice this weekend, and "a late-January return has become more likely than not."
Baron tried to downplay expectations, saying his timetable is in the trainers' hands, but clearly he's getting there. If he's still floating on waivers and you need a PG, think about grabbing him before he's cleared to practice and becomes a hot pickup.

Mon Jan 9 201218:17Baron Davis targeting the end of January
Baron Davis (back) is targeting the end of January for his return, according to coach Mike D'Antoni.
Davis certainly has upside while playing in D'Antoni's up-tempo system, but he's no lock to play starter's minutes. Rookie Iman Shumpert has been impressive and Toney Douglas gives 3-point shooting off the bench. The oft-chubby Davis will be eased in upon his return.

Tue Jan 3 201216:15Baron Davis running and shooting at practice
Baron Davis (back) did some light running and shooting at Tuesday's Knicks practice.
Davis seemed to be focused on conditioning and no target return date has been announced yet. Davis makes for an interesting stash if you have room on your roster. He could return at the end of January, pushing Toney Douglas for playing time at the point for the Knicks.

Fri Dec 30 201108:40Baron Davis about five weeks out from return?
Baron Davis is approximately five weeks away from returning.
That would put Davis' return to the court right around the beginning of February. The Knicks can't wait to get him healthy and on the court, as the lack of a distributor is really hurting this team right now. His progress should be monitored closely for owners looking to make him a roster stash for later in the season.

Wed Dec 21 201118:39Baron Davis spotted in uniform on MSG floor
NBA.com writer John Schuhmann tweeted a photo of Baron Davis in uniform dribbling a basketball on the Madison Square Garden floor on Wednesday.
File this post purely under speculation, but a guy with a seriously debilitating back injury probably wouldn't be in uniform dribbling. The most recent word from Mike D'Antoni still had Davis missing 4-8 weeks, but it wouldn't be a shock to see him beat that timetable given that his back injury may have been exaggerated in the first place. Toney Douglas is the Knicks' starting PG for now, but Davis is a mandatory roster stash in most fantasy leagues.

Mon Dec 19 201115:04Davis out 4-8 weeks, pegged as starting PG
Coach Mike D'Antoni said on Monday that he expects Baron Davis' back injury to keep him out for four to eight weeks, and hinted that he will take over the starting job if and when healthy.
Of course a healthy and happy Baron Davis is going to start over Toney Douglas, but the question remains, will Davis ever be healthy this season? Feel free to take a late flier on him in your draft, but our guess is he causes a lot more headaches for owners than he will help them win fantasy games.

Mon Dec 19 201113:10Baron Davis (back) likely out 8-10 weeks
Baron Davis (back) mentioned an 8-10 week timetable for his return, but he isn't entirely certain.
Davis sat throughout his introductory press conference, which isn't a good sign, and he was reportedly diagnosed with a herniated disc a few weeks ago. There were whispers that he had exaggerated the injury to go through waivers unclaimed, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Toney Douglas should get heavy minutes as the Knicks' starting PG for the first weeks/months of the season.

Mon Dec 19 201111:46Baron Davis officially signs w/ Knicks
Baron Davis has officially signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Knicks.
New York used their mini mid-level exception to land the veteran PG, who could be a great fit with the Knicks if he's healthy, which is a huge 'if'. His arrival seriously dampens the outlook for Toney Douglas, though Douglas should still play 25+ minutes as a backup combo guard. Feel free to stash Baron in anticipation of his return from his back injury (anywhere from a few weeks to a few months), but don't sacrifice a healthy player for him.

Sun Dec 18 201114:25Baron Davis committed to signing w/ Knicks
Baron Davis has committed to signing with the Knicks and a deal could become official on Sunday, according to ESPN.
This is not a surprise, as there has been mutual interest between Baron and the Knicks ever since he was waived by Cleveland. His back injury is a big question mark for fantasy owners, but recent reports have him either returning in about 2-4 weeks (if he opts for therapy) or eight weeks (if he needs surgery). He certainly has potential as the starting PG for the Knicks, but is only worth a speculative add if you've got the roster space and don't mind weekly headaches.

Sat Dec 17 201110:09Baron Davis clears waivers, headed to Knicks?
Baron Davis has officially cleared waivers, and there is "mutual interest" between he and the Knicks.
As reported earlier, Davis could return in a few weeks from his back injury, which originally sounded like a major problem but may have been exaggerated to allow him to make it through the waivers process unclaimed. Baron is an intriguing fantasy option if he does land with the Knicks.

Fri Dec 16 201120:04Report: Baron Davis expected to clear waivers
Baron Davis, who was waived by the Cavaliers, is expected to clear waivers on Friday night, making him a free agent.
The Knicks are said to be interested, while Davis' back injury may not be as severe as originally believed. Either way, we don't think Davis is going to do much in fantasy, especially since he's already sidelined with the bad back.

Fri Dec 16 201116:53B-Diddy to possibly return in 2 weeks?
Sources tell Chris Sheridan that Baron Davis hopes to clear amnesty waivers today at 6 pm ET and end up with the New York Knicks. If he does, there are talks that he could be available to go within two weeks, not the 8-10 week timeframe originally discussed by his agent.
Sheridan thinks there are a growing number of skeptics that believe that the severity of Davis's injury is being fabricated in an attempt to scare off would-be bidders so that Davis can slip through the waivers process unclaimed, which would allow him to choose his next team. In addition to Davis, the article also talks about the Knicks being interested in going after Michael Redd, Troy Murphy and/or DeShawn Stevenson as well. Check out the link below for more.

Wed Dec 14 201122:16Baron Davis (back) to miss 8-10 weeks minimum
Baron Davis (back) will miss 8-10 weeks at a minimum according to his agent.
This sounds on the surface like a death blow to his season, with an outside shot at ending his career. Davis isn't known for his conditioning and back injuries require one to keep body weight down, stay in shape, and the like. Davis certainly shouldn't be drafted, and as usual keep your eye on him if he ever gets healthy.
