Sat Apr 23 201120:11Vinatieri wants to remain in Indy
Free agent Adam Vinatieri is optimistic he'll be re-signed by the Colts once the transactions freeze is lifted.
"There is no place I'd rather be," he said. "I've expressed interest in wanting to stay here and they've expressed interest in wanting to keep me around." Vinatieri doesn't have the leg he once had, but converted 92.9 percent of his field goals last season, good for second in the NFL. He'll likely be back with Indy in 2011.

Thu Feb 17 201119:36Colts, Vinatieri discussing new contract
Owner Jim Irsay revealed Thursday that he's discussing a new deal with free agent K Adam Vinatieri.
Vinatieri bounced back from an injury-plagued 2009 by nailing 26-of-28 (92.9 percent) field goals in his age-38 season. Irsay values Vinatieri as the best clutch kicker in the game, so it's no surprise that he wants him back in Indy.

Wed Dec 15 201009:46Vinatieri not thinking retirement
Colts K Adam Vinatieri, 38, is in the final year of his contract, but he says "there's nothing to say I can't do this another five, six or seven years longer."
After missing most of 2009 with hip and knee issues, Vinatieri is feeling reinvigorated this season, connecting on 20-of-22 field goal attempts. He has never had great leg strength, and what he has had has pretty evaporated, but no one is more of a sure thing from less than 50 yards. Vinatieri would love to stay with the Colts but realizes he's not their top priority.

Colts K Adam Vinatieri says he's feeling great after missing most of 2009 with hip and knee issues.
"I don't have anything that's bothering me," he said Monday. "And when we're out there and we're nice and loose and warm, it feels like it should." The Colts brought in Brett Swenson for competition for Vinatieri, but as long as he's healthy, the veteran will win the job.

Thu Jun 24 201009:28Vinatieri still favorite for kicking duties
The Colts "very much want" Adam Vinatieri to be their kicker this season, according to the Indy Football Report.
The 37-year-old is coming off the most injury-plagued season of his career, so the Colts brought in rookie Brett Swenson for "competition." The team believes Vinatieri can stay healthy this year. He's the kicker barring a meltdown in August.

Fri Jun 11 201010:01Vinatieri wants to play several more seasons
Adam Vinatieri (knee) said he not only feels healthy this year but also wants to play a few more seasons.
Vinatieri's distance and consistency have fallen off the past few years. Coming off a lost season due to hip and knee injuries, he's reached the point where his future is year-to-year. If he's truly healthy, the 15-year veteran should be able to hold off undrafted rookie Brett Swenson for at least one more year.

Thu May 20 201013:53Vinatieri not limited in Colts practice
Adam Vinatieri (knee) was not limited in Colts practice Thursday.
"This year I'm healed up and this entire offseason we've been working on strengthening everything back and making sure I'll be ready for a long season," Vinatieri said. As long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks, Vinatieri should hold off undrafted rookie Brett Swenson for kicking duties this summer.

Sun May 9 201014:42Vinatieri could be moving on?
ESPN's Paul Kuharsky speculates that the Colts could let Adam Vinatieri go if they're impressed by undrafted rookie Brett Swenson.
Vinatieri, 37, will have to show that the knee that cost him 10 games plus the playoffs last season is healthy. Assuming he sticks, Vinatieri won't be a great fantasy option with a declining leg and the Colts' deadly effectiveness in the red zone.
