Garcia is coming off a one-hit shutout Thursday against Milwaukee in which he fanned a career-high 13, throwing just 104 pitches in the process. LHP Jaime Garcia pitched probably the best game of his career Thursday, firing a one-hit shutout and whiffing a career-high 13 on Thursday in a 7-0 victory over Milwaukee. Garcia didn't throw a single pitch over 92 mph, but his ball moved so late and so dramatically that the Brewers didn't have a chance. Perhaps three balls were hit hard all day off Garcia, whose shutout was his first since May 6, 2011 -- also against the Brewers.

Sat Oct 10 201519:11Garcia exited Game 2 of NLDS with stomach virus
Garcia exited Game 2 of the NLDS with stomach virus.
Garcia made it through just two innings, giving up five runs (zero earned) on four hits and a walk, so it seemed natural that the 29-year-old's exit was performance based. However, it seems as if Garcia was suffering from a minor illness as well as a damaged ego. He should be available to pitch in the coming days, but it's not clear when he might return to the mound with Game 3 and 4 starters already locked in.
Thu Oct 8 201515:28Garcia will pitch Game 2 of NLDS
Garcia will pitch Game 2 of the NLDS, Benjamin Hochman of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Garcia will battle with Met's righty Noah Syndergaard in Game 2 of the NLDS on Saturday. The 29-year-old was excellent this year, posting a 2.43 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 129.2 innings this year, however he give up two runs in seven innings during his only start against the Mets this year. Considering that start was all the way back on May 21, fantasy owners shouldn't take much stock in that outcome with both teams changing dramatically since Garcia last faced the Mets.

Garcia (10-6) gave up two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five over four innings in Friday's loss to Atlanta.
Garcia managed to spread out the damage in Friday's loss, his only blip being a two-run second inning. Despite dealing with shoulder and groin injuries, Garcia dazzled for much of the season, but has come back down to earth in his final nine starts of the regular season, posting a 3.58 ERA and 1.24 WHIP since Aug. 15, both well above his season averages of 2.43 and 1.05, respectively.

Garcia (10-5) was spectacular on Saturday, as he struck out eight Brewers over eight one-run innings in a win over the Brewers. He allowed seven hits and no walks.
What makes Garcia so special is his control, as he has just 28 walks in 125.2 innings this season. It's been a breakout campaign for the southpaw, as he maintains a 2.36 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 19 starts this season. Injuries are the only concern for the lefty, as he has failed to eclipse 200 innings and has pitched 60 or less innings in three of his seven seasons.

Garcia allowed just one run on five hits and two walks over seven innings in a no decision Monday against Cincinnati. He struck out five.
Garcia was efficient, as he used eight ground balls to get through seven innings in just 88 pitches, and he probably could have continued if he wasn't lifted for a pinch hitter. Garcia has been excellent this year, as he owns a 2.45 ERA and an 84:28 K:BB in 117.2 innings.

Garcia (9-5) gave up four runs on eight hits and a walk in 6.1 innings Wednesday against the Brewers, but still picked up the win.
Garcia has been experiencing some painful course correction lately, having given up four or more runs in three of his last four starts; his ERA, a minuscule 1.77 before this stretch, is now up to 2.52. This is easily the most he's pitched -- that is to say, the least he's been injured -- in the last three seasons, so he could be tiring down the stretch a bit, as his strikeout production has dipped significantly recently. Nonetheless, the Cardinals do a lot of winning, so he remains eminently startable heading into next week's matchup with the Reds.
