Fri Apr 27 201210:34Young made anti-Semitic remarks during arrest
New York police detective Joseph Cavitolo said Delmon Young is also accused of making "anti-Semitic remarks" during his arrest Friday morning.
Cavitolo said the outfielder faces an "aggravated harassment hate crime" charge and will be processed through central booking later Friday for an incident that occurred outside the Tigers' team hotel in New York. The charge is a misdemeanor, and although Young seems unlikely to serve any jail time, it's possible he could face a suspension from MLB and/or the Tigers. The incident occurred exactly six years after Young was suspended for throwing his bat at an umpire in a Triple-A game.

Delmon Young was arrested for allegedly assaulting a man early Friday morning in front of a Midtown hotel in New York.
According to the report from the New York Post's Larry Celona, cops were called to the hotel at 2:40 AM after a "highly intoxicated" Young pushed the man to the ground, resulting in scratches on the man's arm. Young, who has had anger issues in the past, was charged with assault in the third degree and is in custody while awaiting arraignment. We'll update this situation when more is known.

Sun Apr 15 201218:04Delmon Young doubles in win
Delmon Young went 2-for-4 with a double in Sunday's win.
Young is now batting .310/.382/.448, but has only two extra-base hits, just one of which has left the yard. He's a low-ceiling mixed-league option, but at least shouldn't hurt you in the average department.

Fri Apr 13 201217:09Delmon Young homers in loss
Delmon Young hit his first homer of the season Friday against the White Sox, giving the Tigers both of their runs off Jake Peavy.
That was the good news. The bad is that he gave Alejandro De Aza a "triple" in the eighth that led to a two-run inning. And in the ninth, he got ahead 3-0 against Hector Santiago, only to end up striking out looking on a fastball at the knees. It was maybe the first time in his career he actually seemed to be looking to walk.

Mon Apr 2 201216:52Delmon Young hits sixth spring homer
Delmon Young went 3-for-4 and hit his sixth homer Monday in the Tigers' 11-8 win over the Blue Jays.

Thu Mar 8 201216:36Delmon Young hits three-run homer
Delmon Young hit a three-run homer off Rays reliever Cesar Ramos in Thursday's victory.
Young looked like a better fantasy option before the Prince Fielder signing dropped him from third to fifth in Detroit's lineup, but he still could be a big-time RBI guy behind Miguel Cabrera and Fielder. He's 4-for-9 with two homers and five RBI this spring.

Fri Mar 2 201210:07Tigers won't have full-time DH
Tigers manager Jim Leyland doesn't plan on having a full-time designated hitter this season.
Most have Delmon Young pegged for regular DH duty, and he'll still likely receive most of his at-bats there, but Leyland plans to use others in the spot, as well, including Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera. "You have to be careful," Leyland said. "You don't want to give someone the leeway to say, 'I'm used to playing -- it (DH) messes me up.'"

Fri Nov 11 201115:35Delmon Young won't be non-tendered
Tigers manager Dave Dombrowski said his team will not non-tender Delmon Young this offseason.
MLBTradeRumors.com projects Young to make $6.3 million in his final year of arbitration, but the Tigers are willing to fork over that much after the outfielder slugged .458 while belting eight homers down the stretch. He also slugged .676 with five homers in the playoffs. But while Dombrowski is willing to pay Young in his final year of arbitration, he has said previously that he's not interested in negotiating an extension with the 26-year-old.

Sat Nov 5 201109:16Delmon Young extension 'not a priority'
Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said a multi-year extension for Delmon Young is "not a priority for us."
Young will become a free agent after next season, and it sounds like the Tigers are prepared to let the year play out and go from there. "Delmon is a free agent in a year," Dombrowski said. "If he hits .300 with 25 home runs and 100 RBIs, he's going to sign a big contract somewhere. I don't know if it's here or somewhere else, but it's going to happen." Young came up big for the Tigers down the stretch and in the playoffs, but Dombrowski didn't forget how terrible he was earlier in the year for Minnesota before the trade. An extension now would be risky.

Sat Oct 15 201108:31All systems go for Young, Martinez
Tigers manager Jim Leyland said "all systems are a go" for Delmon Young (oblique) and Victor Martinez (intercostal strain) in Game 6.
"Unless they trip on a plane or something they'll be alright," Leyland said. "I haven't heard anything. I haven't gotten any negative feedback from our trainers." Martinez injured himself in Game 3 on a swing that resulted in a home run but has been able to play through the injury. Young, who missed Game 1 and Game 3, is expected to start in left field and bat fifth.

Thu Oct 13 201119:53Tigers force Game 6 behind Young's 2 HRs
Delmon Young came up big for the Tigers Wednesday, belting a solo shot in the fourth and a two-run shot in the sixth in the ALCS Game 5 win over the Rangers.
Alex Avila and Ryan Raburn also had solo shots for the Tigers. Young is battling a strained oblique and was hitless in his first two starts of the series, but he showed tonight that he's at least healthy enough to contribute. He now has five longballs this postseason and has driven in six runs. This, after Young hit just four homers over 84 games this season for the Twins before he was dealt to Detroit.

Mon Oct 10 201122:06Young (oblique) status uncertain for Game 3
Tigers manager Jim Leyland revealed in his post game press conference that Delmon Young's status for Game 3 is uncertain.
"I'm not sure if he'll play tomorrow or not, but we're going to wait and see," Leyland said. "I have to check with the trainers on that." Barring an unforeseen setback he'll be in their lineup again in Game 3.

Mon Oct 10 201112:35Delmon Young (oblique) in ALCS Game 2 lineup
Delmon Young (oblique) is back in the Tigers' starting lineup for ALCS Game 2 Monday against the Rangers.
Young was initially left off the Tigers' second-round roster because of an oblique strain that he suffered in Game 5 of the ALDS against the Yankees. But he's going to play through the pain, or at least try to, and see where it leaves him. Young is batting third and manning left field Monday.

Mon Oct 10 201110:30Delmon Young (oblique) added to ALCS roster
Delmon Young has been added to the ALCS roster.
Young was left off initially due to an oblique injury that he suffered in Game 5 of the ALDS, but Magglio Ordonez's broken ankle has now opened up a roster spot. The Tigers will probably keep Young benched for the next few games, but he could be ready to rock later on in the seven-game series.

Sat Oct 8 201113:48Delmon Young (oblique) not on ALCS roster
Delmon Young has been left off the Tigers' ALCS roster due to his recent oblique injury.
Danny Worth will replace him on the roster while Ryan Raburn should get most of the playing time in left field. It's a blow for the Tigers, as Young went 6-for-19 with three homers during the ALDS, but Raburn has a chance to fare well against the lefty-heavy Rangers' rotation
