Fri Feb 15 201314:14Rams waive Titus Young after nine-day 'stint'
Rams waived WR Titus Young.
The topic is expected to be addressed at a Jeff Fisher news conference Friday to introduce new defensive coordinator Tim Walton. Young's history of genuinely idiotic and self-destructive behavior makes his nine-day "stint" in St. Louis a non-surprise. Young is just 23 years old and brimming with talent, but it's beginning to look less and less likely that he'll be playing NFL snaps anytime soon without some sort of a significant wakeup call.

Fri Feb 15 201311:29Report: Titus Young's Rams future murky
The Rams have declined comment on rumors Titus Young will be released on Friday.
Detroit-based writer Rob Parker reported Friday morning Young will be waived on Friday, though both the Rams and Young's agent have declined comment. The fact that neither side opted to shoot down the report strongly suggests Young's time in St. Louis will last all of 10 days. If that's indeed the case, it's an extremely bad sign for the troubled receiver's NFL future.

Thu Feb 7 201313:09Lions GM: Titus had 'no trade value'
Lions GM Martin Mathew says he didn't try to trade Titus Young before waiving him because he had "no trade value."
Mathew's claim is hardly surprising, and backed up by the fact that the Rams were the only team to place a waiver claim on the mercurial third-year pro. Mayhew says he doesn't have any regrets about selecting Young in the second round of the 2011 draft despite his well-documented character issues in college. "We made a big investment in him, didn't work out, move on." Rams coach Jeff Fisher has a history of getting the most out of malcontents, but Young is going to be his biggest challenge yet.

Wed Feb 6 201308:45Rams were only team to put in claim on Young
The Rams were the only team that put in a waiver claim on Titus Young.
Perhaps this will humble the man that thinks he's better than Calvin Johnson. The Rams inherit Young's relatively meager $555,000 2013 base salary and $185,000 roster bonus, making it a low-risk, high-reward kind of move. It also gives them some talented depth with Danny Amendola and Brandon Gibson set to become free agents in March.

Mon Feb 4 201323:53Cowboys not expected to claim WR Young
The Cowboys are not expected to put in a waiver claim for former Lions WR Titus Young.
The news comes via DallasCowboys.com's Bryan Broaddus, who is very plugged into the Cowboys' intentions. Young might be considered by Dallas if he clears waivers and avoids offseason trouble ahead of training camp, but the Cowboys won't put in a claim. We tentatively expect no teams to claim Young off waivers.

Fri Jan 25 201309:00Titus Young: Cut me, I'm tired of the threats
Titus Young was back at the keyboard on Friday morning and said, "Oh I'm not done, if y'all going to cut me let me go. I'm tired of the threats."
"Never needed the money Give me a dollar and a ball bet I come back #HallofFame," Young added. This comes on the heels of a Tuesday rant on Twitter where Young threatened to quit if he didn't get the ball anymore. Head coach Jim Schwartz commented on the matter on Wednesday by saying, "You wear your uniform 24 hours a day now, everybody's aware of that. We obviously still got some ground to cover there." This may be the straw that ends up breaking the camel's back for Young in Detroit, and he may actually be fine with that.

Thu Jan 24 201309:08Lions won't rule out Young returning in 2013
Coach Jim Schwartz did not rule out the possibility of Titus Young returning to the Lions in 2013.
In the last year, Young has sucker punched teammate Louis Delmas, arrived late to meetings, lined up wrong on purpose and let loose with stunningly selfish tweets. He's been suspended three times by the team. If the Lions really want to fix their discipline issue -- both on an off the field -- cutting ties with Young would be a good place to start. The problem is that they're desperate for talent opposite Calvin Johnson and Ryan Broyles is rehabbing yet another ACL tear. "Every player's unique, and every player has different circumstances," Schwartz said. "I think you could go across the league and find a bunch of guys (that have put troubles behind them)."

Wed Jan 23 201316:46Jim Schwartz comments on Titus' tirade
Responding to Titus Young's plea for a bigger role in the offense, Lions coach Jim Schwartz said "this is a pretty good example of a not so good idea."
Young tweeted Tuesday that he "(doesn't) want to play anymore" if he wasn't going to get the ball more in 2013. "Every offensive player wants the football and there's good ways to go about trying to get that done," Schwartz said. "This is a pretty good example of a not so good idea. Guys are responsible for what they post, what they say. You wear your uniform 24 hours a day now, everybody's aware of that. We obviously still (have) some ground to cover there." The fact that Schwartz responded to Young's latest misstep with something other than complete condemnation is a good thing for Young, but the odds he's back in Detroit next season are at an all-time low.

Tue Jan 22 201314:01Titus Young: I want the ball or I won't play
Titus Young tweeted on Tuesday "if I'm not going to get the football I don't want to play anymore."
"Never have I ran the wrong route, just put my self where the ball was going," Young added on Twitter. Young continues to voice his displeasure and hasn't learned a thing since his benching and subsequent banishment to injured reserve late in the season. Young's chances of returning to the Lions, who seem to be intent on shoring up their team-wide character issues, are diminishing with every word that comes out of his mouth. His future in Detroit has been described as "up in the air" by GM Martin Mayhew.

Wed Jan 2 201321:06Titus Young has yet to have knee surgery
Lions GM Martin Mayhew said Titus Young has yet to undergo knee surgery after he was placed on injured reserve in the first week of December.
Head coach Jim Schwartz threw a jab at Young as he was placed on the injured list, saying that the receiver would undergo surgery "unless he doesn't show up for it." So, he either didn't show up or it has yet to be scheduled. Young's roster spot and future in Detroit is "up in the air," according to Mayhew.

Wed Jan 2 201319:19Lions GM vague on Titus Young's future
GM Martin Mayhew says Titus Young's Lions future remains up in the air.
"It's hard to say right now," Mayhew said when asked about Young's 2013 status. "There's a lot of time between now and (next season). That's not been decided." Mayhew's vague comments come after coach Jim Schwartz allowed at his season-ending press conference there was "still a window" for Young to remain a Lion. The fact that Young has any chance at all of sticking with Detroit is remarkable. He likely has Ryan Broyles' torn ACL to thank. Young's odds of remaining in Detroit have gone from "nonexistent" to "slim."

Mon Dec 31 201211:28Schwartz: 'Still a window' for Titus w/ Lions
According to Lions coach Jim Schwartz, there is "still a window" for Titus Young to remain with the Lions.
Saboteur Young seemed as good as gone from the Motor City when his "knee injury" landed him to I.R., but that was before Ryan Broyles suffered his second torn ACL in as many years. With Young signed cheaply through 2014, there is also a financial incentive for Detroit to give him one more shot. The volatile third-year pro will be hard to trust in fantasy leagues.

Wed Dec 5 201213:26Schwartz takes shot at Titus Young
According to Lions coach Jim Schwartz, Titus Young (knee, injured reserve) will undergo surgery "unless he doesn't show up for it."
Ouch. Schwartz's pot-shot is confirmation both that Young's injury does in fact exist, and that there's an almost zero percent chance he'll be back with the Lions in 2013. The NFL is a second-chance league, but the disastrous with which Young has flamed out in Detroit is going to severely limit his appeal. He will be playing football next year, however.

Tue Dec 4 201218:10Lions banish Titus Young to injured reserve
Lions placed Titus Young (undisclosed) on injured reserve, ending his season.
We suspect the Lions will point to the knee injury that bothered Young in the first half of the season, though he hasn't used that leg in three weeks. This is merely a procedural move to banish Young and open a roster spot. The tea leaves in Detroit suggest the subversive Young has played his last game for the Lions after sabotaging his own team's offense and losing the trust of his veteran teammates. With his trade value in the tank, Young could be waived in 2013.

Mon Dec 3 201215:03Titus Young likely finished as a Lion
Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press believes it "seems pretty obvious" that Titus Young has played his last snap with the Lions.
Despite Ryan Broyles' second ACL tear in the past 13 months, Young was sent home from the Lions' facility on Monday and will not be part of the Week 14 game plan. Or any game plan from here on out. Young will get another shot if he's waived after the season, but he blew a prime opportunity for a great start to his career by attempting to sabotage his own team's offense.

Sun Dec 2 201222:01Schwartz won't say if Young will be back
When asked if Titus Young would rejoin the Lions this season, coach Jim Schwartz said, "that's yet to be seen."
Schwartz not only deactivated Young for the second straight week Sunday, but told him to stay home. The rest of the Lions' inactives watched the game from the sideline. The Lions could certainly use Young now that Ryan Broyles is sidelined by a potentially serious knee injury, but the hard-nosed Schwartz could risk losing the locker room if he brings the petulant problem child back. Mike Thomas and Brian Robiskie are other options to replace Broyles out wide. Tight end Tony Scheffler handled slot duties Sunday.
