Tue Feb 14 201201:49Haywood nears double-double vs. Clippers
Brendan Haywood neared a double-double on Monday against the Clippers, scoring 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting with nine rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 29 minutes.
Haywood has been very inconsistent lately so owners should make him do this again before considering an add.

Thu Feb 2 201214:34Brendan Haywood expected back Friday
Brendan Haywood (back) is expected to return for Friday's game against the Pacers.
Haywood will almost certainly take back the starting job from Ian Mahinmi as the two continue to cancel each other out. On the season, Haywood is averaging 21.8 minutes and Mahinmi is averaging 20.3.

Wed Feb 1 201219:24Brendan Haywood out against Thunder
Brendan Haywood will miss Wednesday's game against the Thunder with a stiff lower back.
Ian Mahinmi should have a nice game tonight, and we're guessing he'll start. Haywood is day-to-day.

Sat Jan 28 201202:22Brendan Haywood plays well in win over Jazz
Brendan Haywood had a season-high 12 points, and tied a season high with 12 rebounds, a steal and two blocks in Friday's win over the Jazz.
Haywood is averaging 10 points, nine rebounds and a block per game over his last three, and has played well in four straight games for the Mavs. He's not going to score a lot, but if you need help at center, adding him makes sense right now. Ian Mahinmi played 19 minutes and had five points and seven rebounds tonight. It's time to move on Haywood.

Tue Jan 24 201205:10Haywood scores season-high 10 points
Brendan Haywood scored a season-high 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting with six rebounds, one assist, and no steals or blocks in 19 minutes on Monday.
Haywood has been off the fantasy radar for most of the season but has picked it up a bit this week. Give him a look if you're desperate at the center position, but realize we're not expecting much and Ian Mahinmi could render him useless for fantasy purposes.

Sat Jan 14 201202:07Haywood struggles for owners in blowout win
Brendan Haywood scored two points on 1-of-1 shooting with three rebounds, three steals, and a block in 16 minutes on Friday.
Even in deeper leagues Haywood is much too inconsistent to trust. Even though the Mavs ran away with the game and that helped contribute to the result, this is the type of stuff that happens to marginal players all the time.

Wed Jan 11 201223:42Brendan Haywood nearly double-doubles
Brendan Haywood had eight points, 11 rebounds and zero blocks in Wednesday's tough win over Boston.
Haywood hit just 2-of-8 free throws and his job is threatened by the emergence of Ian Mahinmi, but is worth a look in deeper leagues. Mahinmi, who is also worth deep-league consideratoin, had eight points and six boards, but played just 18 minutes tonight before fouling out.

Sun Jan 8 201200:12As Haywood struggles, Mahinmi coming on
Brendan Haywood had just two points and six rebounds in 17 minutes in Saturday's win.
Ian Mahinmi came off the bench for 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals and a block in 24 minutes, and could be ready to overtake Haywood for the starting job. It's not guaranteed to happen, but Haywood wasn't in foul trouble tonight, picking up just two of them. Mahinmi's played at least 20 minutes in seven straight games and looks like a better option than Haywood right now.

Fri Dec 30 201101:11Haywood looks more agile against Thunder
Brendan Haywood scored eight points on 4-of-7 shooting with five rebounds, one steal, and one block in 22 minutes on Thursday against the Thunder.
Haywood looked a bit more agile and active on the floor tonight, but he's still not getting the type of minutes that would make him a low-end fantasy option. Haywood is still just a stash for those in need of a center.

Tue Dec 27 201104:44Haywood plays 21 minutes against Denver
Brendan Haywood played 21 minutes against the Nuggets on Monday, scoring seven points on 3-of-5 shooting with five rebounds and no steals or blocks.
This actually represents an improvement over Sunday's three-rebound, 14-minute effort, but don't be tricked into thinking that the blowout loss had anything to do with his minutes. Whether he's just not in shape or still hurting at the hip, we don't know if he can handle many more minutes. Haywood is not a must-own player, and owners need to look at him as a long-term project with no guarantees.

Sun Dec 25 201117:47Brendan Haywood awful for Mavericks
Brendan Haywood started at center for the Mavericks Sunday but failed to score and grabbed just three rebounds in 14 minutes.
He looked really bad, but the Mavericks don't have many options, as Ian Mahinmi played 15 minutes with two points and four boards. Maybe Brandan Wright will rise out of the ashes if Haywood continues to stink, but we still doubt Haywood will be this bad for long.

Wed Dec 21 201100:25Haywood starts, invisible for Mavs
Brendan Haywood started at center for the Mavs on Tuesday but failed to score and had just two rebounds.
Yuck. It's the preseason so we're not ready to give up on Haywood. But he's going to be available at the end of most drafts and is not a must-own player unless your league doesn't leave starting Cs on waivers.

Fri Dec 9 201112:12Brendan Haywood likely starter for Mavericks
With Tyson Chandler on the verge of a deal with the Knicks, Brendan Haywood is the Mavericks' most likely starting center.
"I feel comfortable doing whatever the team needs," Haywood said. "So if it's to play the same role as last year, that's fine. If it's to play more minutes because of a situation, that's fine, too." He averaged just 18.3 minutes per game last year and his contract isn't pretty (guaranteed $34.8 over the next four seasons), but Haywood is a serviceable safety net at center for Dallas.

Thu Dec 1 201116:31Mavs not expected to waive Haywood
The Mavericks are not expected to use amnesty to waive center Brendan Haywood despite owing him $45 million over the next five years.
Tyson Chandler recently came out and said he doesn't expect to be re-signed by the Mavericks, and if that's the case, Haywood is clearly the new starting center in Dallas.

Fri Nov 11 201111:14Mavs' to consider amnesty for Haywood?
Depending upon the new CBA, the Mavericks may entertain the idea of buying out Brendan Haywood for the entire $45.4 million he is owed over the next four years.
They would do so under the amnesty clause, thus clearing Haywood's salary from their cap and wiping it away for luxury tax purposes. Still, Mark Cuban paying a healthy center $45 million to walk away doesn't sound very likely.

Sun Jun 12 201118:55Brendan Haywood (hip) active for Game 6
Brendan Haywood (hip) is active for Game 6.
Haywood was listed as a game-time decision, but apparently he felt good enough to give it a go. Our guess is that he wasn't letting much impede him from participating in this one at such a critical juncture in the campaign.

Sat Jun 11 201116:29Haywood (hip) ready to play in Game 6
Brendan Haywood (strained hip) believes that he will play in Game 6.
"I definitely do," Haywood said. "I'm going to give it a shot. I'm going to give it my best." He has only been riding a stationary bike, however, and it remains to be seen how he'll perform in a game situation. In his absence, Tyson Chandler has been playing heavy minutes (while avoiding foul trouble) and guys like Ian Mahinmi and Brian Cardinal have been filling in the gaps.

Thu Jun 9 201119:37Haywood is inactive for Game 5
Brendan Haywood (hip) is inactive for Thursday's Game 5 against the Heat.
No surprise here. Haywood has already conceded that his right hip flexor injury is going to take at least one month to heal. If he plays again in this series, we'd be surprised. He can't move well enough to defend.

Thu Jun 9 201113:01Haywood not expected to play in Game 5
Brendan Haywood (hip) is officially a game-time decision for Thursday's Game 5, but is not expected to play.
The Mavs are notorious for playing injuries close to the vest, even during the regular season. In reality, the game-time call listing is unrealistic. Haywood has already admitted that he might have to miss the rest of the series.
