Thu Apr 11 2013 | 10:26 | Drew Stubbs struggling early with Indians |
Drew Stubbs is batting just .207 with a .483 OPS through his first 29 plate appearances this season. |
Stubbs has struck out 12 times and attempted only one stolen base. There was some hope that this winter's trade to Cleveland might provide a spark for the talented 28-year-old outfielder, but it hasn't happened yet. |

Wed Feb 13 2013 | 21:38 | Drew Stubbs ditches leg kick |
Drew Stubbs worked on changing his approach over the offseason, ditching his leg kick in favor of a toe tap. |
Austin Jackson implemented the same change last season, and Stubbs is hoping it will pay off for him in a similar fashion. The outfielder struck out 539 times from 2010-2012 (180 per season). "When things are going good and you have a leg kick, it's great," Stubbs said. "When you're not, it's a scramble. For a lot of last year, that was the case with me. I said, 'I have to find something to simplify my swing and be able to repeat it.' I kind of rededicated myself after a rough year, trying to get myself back to where I know I should be." |

Tue Feb 12 2013 | 12:02 | Indians not looking to move Stubbs, Brantley |
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Indians are "not looking to move" Drew Stubbs or Michael Brantley. |
There was some speculation that Stubbs or Brantley could be on the block after the Indians agreed to terms with Michael Bourn on Monday night, but it appears there will be room for all of them. As of now, the plan is to use Bourn, Brantley and Stubbs in the outfield while Nick Swisher will mostly play first base and Mark Reynolds will get the majority of his at-bats from the DH spot. |

Mon Feb 11 2013 | 22:49 | Indians may look to trade Drew Stubbs |
According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, the Indians may use outfielder Drew Stubbs as trade bait. |
The Indians signed free agent center fielder Michael Bourn to a four-year, $48 million contract on Monday night, making Stubbs expendable. Stubbs was acquired in a trade earlier this winter with the Reds and Diamondbacks. He hit just .213/.277/.333 in 2012 but stole 30 bases. |

Thu Jan 17 2013 | 23:34 | Indians avoid arbitration with Drew Stubbs |
Indians and OF Drew Stubbs avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.825 million contract. |
The deal also carries $50,000 worth of performance-based bonuses. Stubbs was traded to the Indians in mid-December after batting just .213/.277/.333 in 2012 for the Reds. He still has an attractive combination of power and speed, however, and should again be fantasy-relevant this season in Cleveland. |

Tue Dec 11 2012 | 21:39 | Drew Stubbs goes to Indians |
Indians acquired OF Drew Stubbs from the Reds in a three-team trade. |
Stubbs is a terrific athlete who will give the Tribe fine defense in center field, but he's terribly inconsistent at the plate, where he's a .241/.312/.386 career hitter. From a fantasy perspective, he should continue to provide nice stolen bases totals, some pop and a poor average. With the acquisition of Stubbs, the Indians are likely to move Michael Brantley to left field. |

Thu Sep 20 2012 | 00:17 | Stubbs leads Reds past Cubs |
Drew Stubbs went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, an RBI and his 30th stolen base in Wednesday's 6-5, 10-inning win over the Cubs. |
Stubbs singled home the game-winning run in the top of the 11th. True to form, Stubbs also struck out twice. The multi-hit night was his first since August 21. Stubbs has now stolen at least 30 bases in three consecutive seasons, but that does little to soften his ugly .218/.285/.347 slash. |

Thu Jul 5 2012 | 23:39 | Struggling Stubbs held out of lineup Thursday |
The struggling Drew Stubbs was not in the starting lineup Thursday against the Padres. |
Stubbs is in the midst of a career-worst 0-for-28 hitless streak, so he's hopeful the day off will get him back in gear. "I think regroup is probably a good word to use," said Stubbs. "Obviously, I'm on quite a skid lately. I think when I was in San Francisco, leaving that series, I didn't get any hits, but I still felt like I was putting together some good at-bats and I felt pretty good at the plate. For whatever reason, the last couple of days in L.A., I felt lost a little bit. I don't know what caused it." Wilson Valdez made the start in center field Thursday night. |

Wed Jun 20 2012 | 19:20 | Drew Stubbs will need rehab assignment |
Drew Stubbs (oblique) will likely need a rehab assignment before being activated from the disabled list. |
Stubbs had been hoping to be ready Friday when first eligible, but the Reds have decided it would be better for him to play in a few minor league games first. "That's a very good possibility," manager Dusty Baker said. "We think it's the best for him and us. We don't need him to come back and be struggling. You can take BP, but there's nothing like live pitching where you have to go get it." Stubbs should return early next week. |

Mon Jun 18 2012 | 20:57 | Drew Stubbs expects to return Friday |
Drew Stubbs (oblique) expects to be activated from the disabled list on Friday, the first day he's eligible. |
He was slated to hit off a tee Monday for the first time since last week. "I'll just kind of take it step by step," Stubbs said. "If hitting off of a tee feels good, then maybe I will take soft tosses. If that feels good, we'll move on to BP." Stubbs has been out since early June and was finally placed on the DL Friday. |

Sun Jun 10 2012 | 09:24 | Drew Stubbs (oblique) not close to returning |
Drew Stubbs (oblique) is expected to be out several more days. |
Stubbs hasn't played since straining his left oblique Tuesday. He did some running Saturday and worked on a pulley machine in order to get his core engaged. "(Stubbs) ran some yesterday," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "He wasn't 100 percent, but his 80 percent is better than most guys' 100. You really couldn't tell any difference. He said he felt it a little bit." It's puzzling that the Reds haven't placed him on the disabled list, but Stubbs remains confident that a DL stint won't be required. "Absolutely," he said. "I think we're still in good shape to keep that intact." |
