Thomas will undergo an MRI on Monday after X-rays taken after Sunday's game against the Rams on his injured ankle came back negative, the Denver Post reports.
Thomas suffered the injury on the Broncos' opening drive, and while he was unable to return to the game, ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the team does not believe it to be a high ankle sprain, which could have sidelined Thomas for a number of weeks.
Sun Nov 16 201414:51Julius Thomas: Ruled Out with Ankle Injury
Thomas has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Rams due to an ankle injury, according to Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com.
Thomas suffered the injury in the first half after catching two passes for three yards, and while he was initially questionable to return, he was ruled out midway through the third quarter. It's a tough blow to the Broncos, who also lost Montee Ball to a groin injury, while Emmanuel Sanders was being evaluated for a concussion. Jacob Tamme will likely step into Thomas' role as the pass-catching tight end.
Sun Nov 16 201413:43Thomas left Sunday's game against Rams with ankle injury
Thomas left Sunday's game against the Rams with an ankle injury, ESPN's Jeff Legwold reports.
Thomas, whose return to the game is questionable, caught two passes for three yards prior to his exit from Sunday's contest.

Thomas had six catches on seven targets for 63 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Raiders.
Despite catching a touchdown pass last Sunday against the Patriots, Thomas had been limited in the last three games, catching just eight passes for 83 yards. However, he broke out in a solid way Sunday, catching six passes for the first time since Week 5. He now has a league-leading 12 touchdowns on the season, matching his total from last year.

Thomas has been used in the backfield for pass protection over the last three weeks, as running back Ronnie Hillman continues to struggle against oncoming blitzes, which has limited him in the passing game, the Denver Post reports.
Thomas has caught only eight passes on 14 targets for 83 yards and one touchdown over the last three weeks, which was preceded by nine touchdowns in the first five games of the season. With Montee Ball (groin) questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Hillman is likely to get another start, which could further limit Thomas on pass plays if he's needed as another blocker.

Thomas had two catches on two targets for 33 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 43-21 loss to the Patriots.
Thomas was held in check for much of the game aside from the 18-yard touchdown on the Broncos' first drive of the second half. After going back-to-back games without a score, Thomas finally grabbed his 10th touchdown of the season, and he is now just two behind his total from all of last season. One troubling issue for fantasy owners is that he isn't getting many receptions and hasn't produced much yardage, something many expected after his seven-catch, 104-yard, three-touchdown performance in Week 1. In the last three games, Thomas has caught just eight passes on 14 targets for 83 yards, though he continues to get enough looks in the red zone to make him valuable in nearly any fantasy league.

Thomas caught 2-of-6 targets for 23 yards in Thursday's 35-21 win over the Chargers.
Thomas doesn't get nearly as many looks as teammates Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, which can lead to some lean games when the always-dangerous tight end doesn't reach the end zone. While it's frustrating for owners that two of those games have come successively, Thomas should venture back to the painted grass soon enough. Just keep in mind that he's averaging a modest 4.3 receptions, 5.8 targets and 46.7 receiving yards per game. Also worth noting is that the last two matchups favored Denver's wide receivers over the tight ends and running backs in the passing game. Next week's road contest against the Patriots, while a fairly tough matchup for all involved, should tilt back toward the tight ends and backs a bit.

Thomas caught 4-of-6 targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 42-17 win over the 49ers.
Thomas had a surprisingly poor night, especially given that Peyton Manning completed 22-of-26 passes for 318 yards and four touchdowns. One of the four incompletions was an ugly drop by Thomas, who even after the rough night has an NFL-leading nine touchdowns. His other numbers are quite a bit more modest, as he's on pace for 75 receptions and 811 receiving yards, numbers similar to what he produced in 14 games last season. The only thing holding him back is volume, though he's made up for the modest total of 36 targets by turning one-quarter of them into scores.

Thomas had four catches on six targets for 51 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Jets.
Thomas' excellent season just keeps on rolling, as his touchdown streak has now hit five games and he leads the NFL with nine receiving touchdowns. If he can stay healthy, something that has bothered him for much of his career, he could have a shot at breaking Rob Gronkowski's record of 17 touchdowns by a tight end, which he set back in 2011. Thomas will look to extend his touchdown streak to six games in Week 7 against the 49ers.

Thomas had six catches on seven targets for 66 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Cardinals.
Thomas' first score was the 500th career touchdown pass for quarterback Peyton Manning, making him an important side-note in the record books. It was Thomas' second multi-touchdown game this season, and he has now found the end zone seven times in four games, giving him the league-lead ahead of Packers wide Randall Cobb's six. Thomas' excellent play should continue in Week 6 against the Jets, who have really struggled defending the pass this season and allowed two touchdowns to Antonio Gates in Week 5.

Thomas had three catches on four targets for 17 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Seahawks.
Thomas was very quiet for most of the game, with his touchdown coming on a shovel pass with 9:20 left in the fourth quarter. His receiving yards have declined from 104 to 39 to 17, but he has scored a touchdown in every game this season (five overall), which keeps him as a valuable fantasy piece despite the decrease in yards. His streak will take a week off, as the Broncos head out on bye before facing the Cardinals in Week 5.

Thomas had four catches on five targets for 39 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Chiefs.
Thomas' touchdown was his fourth of the season after his monster 104-yard, three-touchdown performance in Week 1. While the volume wasn't there Sunday, he remains a trusted receiver for quarterback Peyton Manning, which should keep him heavily involved in the passing game. Up next is a very tough game at Seattle.

Thomas caught seven passes for 104 yards and three touchdowns on eight targets in Sunday's win over the Colts.
Thomas was dominant early on, catching all three of his touchdowns in the second quarter. He did have one slip up in the second half, as he put the ball on the ground, and was fortunate to have it roll to a teammate. On a night in which WR Demaryius Thomas uncharacteristically did very little with his 11 targets, (Julius) Thomas ranked third on the team with eight targets, one behind Emmanuel Sanders. Thomas seems to be enjoying life without Wes Welker (concussion) and Eric Decker, as there isn't quite as much competition for Peyton Manning's attention.

Thomas had four catches on four targets for 32 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans.
The expectations for Thomas were already high after his breakout 2013 season, especially with Eric Decker signing with the Jets in the offseason. With the news that Wes Welker could miss Week 1 after he suffered a concussion Saturday, Thomas could be the beneficiary of even more targets, particularly in the red zone.

Thomas had three catches on three targets for 35 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's preseason game against the 49ers.
Thomas dealt with a bruised thigh earlier this month, but there was nothing Sunday that indicated it's still bothering him. As long as he's healthy, Thomas is an elite fantasy tight end, who could see even more red zone targets this season with Eric Decker now with the Jets.
Sat Aug 2 201414:35Thomas missed Saturday's practice with bruised thigh
Thomas missed Saturday's practice with a bruised thigh, Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports.
A bruised thigh is essentially a non-issue at this stage of training camp, particularly for a player like Thomas, who doesn't have to compete for a role. However, the uber-athletic tight end has struggled with injuries throughout his career, and he'll obviously need to stay healthy to build on his 2013 breakout season. There is still plenty of competition for targets in the high-powered Denver offense, as the departed Eric Decker was replaced by speedy Emmanuel Sanders.
Sun Jul 27 201418:35Julius Thomas got tutoring from T-Gonz
Julius Thomas spent time working with Tony Gonzalez this offseason.
Thomas and Gonzalez live near each other in the Los Angeles area. "I picked his brain on, what are sort of the things you're looking for?" Thomas said. "Not just technique, but what's going through your mind during plays? What do you focus on? How do you prepare for the day? His routine." By all accounts, Orange Julius has not rested on his breakout 2013 season that saw him finish as fantasy's No. 3 tight end. With Eric Decker gone and Thomas in a contract year, there's room for significant statistical growth.

Sun Jul 20 201420:11Julius Thomas wants to stay in Denver
Julius Thomas told Larry Brown Sports he "absolutely" wants to stay in Denver long term.
Thomas is entering a contract year, and GM John Elway has made it clear he doesn't value J.T. at Jimmy Graham's level. Thomas doesn't seem to mind. "Absolutely," said the ascending 26-year-old. "I love Denver. It's a great city. I really love that franchise, fan base, I would look forward to being there for a long time." Thomas could be a candidate for the franchise tag in 2015.

Wed Jul 16 201420:10Elway: Julius Thomas won't get Graham $
Broncos GM John Elway made it clear to USA Today that he doesn't believe contract-year TE Julius Thomas deserves Jimmy Graham money.
The Saints signed Graham to a four-year, $40 million deal with $21 million guaranteed. "Even though Julius had a tremendous year for us, he's only (played) 23 games," said Elway. "We want Julius to be a Bronco for a long time and we think he has tremendous upside, but he's not at that level." In other words, if Julius isn't willing to accept something of a hometown discount, the Broncos would feel comfortable letting "Orange Julius" play out his contract year absent a long-term commitment. They could franchise tag him in 2015. Thomas caught 21 fewer passes than Graham in 2013, for 427 fewer yards and four fewer touchdowns. He's also used far more often as an in-line tight end than Graham, so the Broncos could win a tight end/wide receiver arbitration case if things got that far.

Wed Jul 2 201409:31Julius Thomas to be used far more creatively
Julius Thomas said he'll be used "a lot more creatively" this season.
It's easy to forget that Thomas played just one season of college football at Portland State and entered last season with one catch in two NFL seasons. He's still a developing prospect despite going off for 65-788-12 last season. "I think there are a lot of things that our offense wanted to do with me, but you can only learn so much in one year," he said. Now entering his second year as a starter, Thomas will be asked to expand his route tree and help compensate for the loss of Eric Decker -- especially in the red zone. Another 12-15 touchdowns for Orange Julius is well within reach.
