Sat Jun 21 201416:49Julius Thomas 'monitoring' Jimmy Graham case
Broncos TE Julius Thomas said he's monitoring the arbitration case between the Saints and Jimmy Graham.
Thomas is in the final year of his rookie deal and could be franchised next offseason. Like Graham, he lines up in multiple spots on offense and will likely try to make a similar case if Graham's grievance is successful. The Broncos have approached Thomas about a contract extension, so the decision has the potential to impact long-term talks. "I've kind of been keeping an eye on that situation, obviously, because it could probably come back to affect a lot of us tight ends," Thomas said. "I think that if you're a guy that makes plays, that's how you should be valued."

Mon Jun 9 201420:19Broncos talking extension with Julius Thomas
The Broncos have approached contract-year TE Julius Thomas about an extension.
GM John Elway is trying to secure both Julius and Demaryius Thomas to long-term deals before training camp. If he can get one locked up, it'd free up next year's franchise tag as a possibility for the other. Julius is coming off a breakout season and should see even more targets with Eric Decker now out of the picture. The Denver Post believes Julius could be seeking $7 million annually.

Sun Feb 2 201422:36Seahawks D holds Julius Thomas in check
The Seahawks held Julius Thomas to four catches for 27 yards on six targets in Super Bowl 48.
His first two receptions went for three and five yards as Seattle let Denver catch short stuff, but gave up little deep and tackled relentlessly around the line of scrimmage. Thomas added an 11-yard gain late in the first half, but never put a real dent in the Seahawks' defense as WLB K.J. Wright and SS Kam Chancellor put drapes on "Orange Julius" in coverage. Still, Thomas broke out in a major way in 2013, his first season as a full-time player, scoring 12 touchdowns in 14 regular season games to finish as the No. 3 fantasy tight end. He'll be in the second- and third-round mix as a 2014 fantasy pick.

Sun Jan 19 201418:27Julius Thomas goes for 85 yards in victory
Julius Thomas caught eight balls for 85 yards in Denver's AFC title game win over the Patriots.
Orange Julius had four deep red-zone targets, but two fell incomplete, the third came on a shovel pass where he was tackled at the two-yard line, and Thomas dropped the fourth. Two 14-yard gains and a 37-yarder over the top of Patriots LB Jamie Collins in the second half buoyed Thomas' stats, but this was mostly a Demaryius/Decker day when the game was still in doubt. Look for more impact from Denver's basketball-player tight end in the Super Bowl.

Sun Jan 12 201420:20Julius Thomas goes for 76 yards in Week 19
Julius Thomas caught six passes for 76 yards in the Broncos' Divisional Round win over the Chargers.
Lined up at Z receiver, Thomas ripped off his first reception on a legit wideout route, beating Chargers LCB Shareece Wright's man coverage for a 16-yard gain. Thomas lost a fumble when S Jahleel Addae ripped the ball out at the end of a five-yard catch, but San Diego failed to capitalize when Nick Novak's 53-yard field goal try fell short. Overall, it was an uncharacteristically error-filled game for Orange Julius, who also had an ugly drop and committed a false start penalty, drawing the ire of Peyton Manning. Thomas did atone with two first-down receptions (17, 9 yards) to put the game on ice late in the fourth quarter. Expect more production in next week's bout with the Patriots.

Thomas was held out of the end-zone this week and didn't play in the second half with the Broncos resting their starters. He finishes his breakout season with 65 catches, 788 yards, and 12 touchdown despite only appearing in 14 games. The Broncos will take on the lowest remaining seed in the second round of the playoffs.

Orange Julius has ever bit earned his nickname by finding pay dirt in 10 of his 13 appearances this season. The Broncos will close out the regular season against the Raiders in Week 17.

Fri Dec 13 201300:29Julius Thomas has four-catch night in loss
Julius Thomas caught four passes for 49 yards in Denver's Week 15 loss to the Chargers.
It was looking like it was going to be a big night for Thomas in the first quarter, as he caught three passes for 44 yards. Along with the rest of the Broncos' offense, however, he went into a shell for the game's final three periods with the Chargers played keep away. Tonight was just the third time in 12 games that Thomas did not find the end zone. He'll remain an elite TE1 for Week 16.

Sun Dec 8 201319:51Julius Thomas drops one TD, gets another
Julius Thomas caught five passes for 35 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's Week 14 win over the Titans.
Playing for the first time since Nov. 17 due to a knee injury, Thomas appeared to be 100 percent. He dropped a touchdown pass that hit him in the stomach (although it appeared to be slightly tipped), but then bounced right back with a toe-tapping score on a goal-line fade. Thomas now has 11 touchdowns on the season, setting a franchise record for scores by a tight end. He'll be a great bet to find the end zone again when the Broncos host the Chargers on Thursday night. Thomas' goal-line looks could even increase with the likely absence of Wes Welker (concussion).

FOX's Jay Glazer confirms Julius Thomas (knee) is fully expected to play in Sunday's game against the Titans.
Thomas should be close to 100 percent after sitting out two games and then getting full practices in on Thursday and Friday. He figures to be a central part of the gameplan with the Titans' outside corners excelling. The only tight ends we'd play over Thomas are Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham and Vernon Davis.

A full participant in Thursday and Friday's sessions, Thomas is ready to rock against a Tennessee defense that excels in perimeter pass coverage but has some vulnerabilities between the numbers, which is where Thomas and Wes Welker do their dirty work. Barring a setback, Thomas is now on track to return for Sunday's game against the Titans. Thomas likely could have played in Week 13, but the Broncos decided to play things safe. Thomas' status will be updated on Friday, but fantasy owners should pencil him into their lineups.

Thu Dec 5 201308:17Julius Thomas 'moving better' Wednesday
Julius Thomas (knee) was reportedly moving better in Wednesday's practice.
Thomas' knee sprain was never considered too serious, but he has missed the last two games. It looks like he's far closer to 100 percent this week. Owners need to have a backup plan on their roster, but Thomas appears safe to pencil into lineups as a TE1 for Week 14.

The Broncos have activated Ronnie Hillman as a potential change-of-pace back for the first time since Week 7, demoting Anderson in his place. Jacob Tamme will be the primary pass-catching tight end, replacing Thomas.

Sun Dec 1 201310:40Schefter: Julius Thomas 'iffy at best' Sunday
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Julius Thomas' (knee) chances of suiting up Sunday against the Chiefs are "iffy at best."
Thomas is listed as questionable after getting in three limited practice sessions this week. He appears to be a full-blown game-time decision one week after being inactive. The Broncos are playing it extremely safe with their freakishly athletic tight end. Thomas will go through pregame warm-ups, and then a decision will be made. Owners need to have other options in place again this week.
