Sat Dec 15 201209:28William Moore not practicing Friday
Falcons SS William Moore (hamstring) did not practice on Friday.
This doesn't bode well for Moore's Week 15 status. Moore was inactive last week following his huge Week 13 performance against New Orleans when he put up 11 total tackles and two picks. Chris Hope got the start in his place, and will do so again if Moore remains sidelined.

William Moore is entrenched as the Falcons' starting strong safety and finally fully healthy after an injury-plagued first three NFL seasons.
Moore has racked up seven picks and three forced fumbles over the past two seasons despite the injuries, and he may be poised for a breakout campaign in a contract season. "He looks good this offseason," DBs coach Tim Lewis said. "He's ready to roll. ... You'll see him more often that you have in the past."

Mon Dec 5 201118:46Falcons bench SS William Moore?
Falcons SS William Moore (quadriceps, groin) has been active for, but not played in each of Atlanta's last two games.
James Sanders has been starting at strong safety. Moore was struggling mightily before the injuries, so it's also possible he's been benched for performance. "William has been coming back from a quadriceps and groin," coach Mike Smith said. "We hope that we get him back and ready to go. ... You have to be very careful when you are dealing with two major muscle groups."

Mon Jun 13 201109:03Moore will be Falcons' starting SS
William Moore will be the Falcons' unquestioned starting strong safety this season.
Moore took over for Erik Coleman in the second game of last season and never looked back. Now that Coleman is in Detroit, Moore has even more security. He posted 71 tackles, five interceptions and one forced fumble a year ago, numbers that should rise as the 2009 second-rounder gets more comfortable.

Wed Oct 13 201019:32William Moore passes Erik Coleman for good
Falcons coach Mike Smith has formally named William Moore the team's starting strong safety, ahead of Erik Coleman.
Moore has 17 tackles, two picks for 44 return yards, and a forced fumble in his last four games, so he's undoubtedly earned the job. Coleman will settle in as Atlanta's third safety, also backing up free-side safety Thomas DeCoud.

William Moore held on to the starting strong safety job even though Erik Coleman (knee) returned.
Coach Mike Smith indicated that this would happen, so IDP owners should already have Moore rostered. Coleman has been "pipped." Moore, a second-round pick in 2009, had four tackles, an interception and a forced fumble on Sunday.

Fri Oct 1 201015:43William Moore may keep starting job
Falcons coach Mike Smith indicated that SS William Moore may keep his starting job even with Erik Coleman (knee) set to return.
Moore, the No. 55 overall pick in 2009, has long been ticketed for starting duties. "William has done a very good job in his role as the starting safety the last two ballgames," said Smith. Coleman can be dropped in all but the deepest of IDP leagues. Moore has eight tackles and a pick in two starts.

Sun Sep 19 201011:55Moore to start at strong safety for Falcons
William Moore will start at strong safety for the Falcons with Erik Coleman inactive due to a knee injury.
Coleman was held out of practice this week after sustaining the injury in Week 1. Moore, an injury-plagued second-rounder, is perhaps the more talented of the two, so don't upgrade the matchup for Cardinals' RB Tim Hightower. Other Falcons inactives: WR Michael Jenkins, RB Antone Smith, LB Spencer Adkins, OT Garrett Reynolds, OG Mike Johnson, DT Trey Lewis, and QB John Parker Wilson.

It's a concern because Moore was troubled by the same injury in OTAs. He was expected to push Erik Coleman for the starting strong safety job, but he hasn't been able to stay out of the trainer's room since being selected in the second round last year.

Thu May 6 201013:11Moore, Babineaux to be held out of minicamp
Falcons S William Moore and DT Jonathan Babineaux will be held out of this weekend's minicamp with minor pectoral and minor shoulder injuries respectively.
Moore was expected to be medically cleared after missing most of his rookie season with hamstring and knee injuries. Though this weight-lifting injury is minor, it's another roadblock to last year's second-rounder making a run at Erik Coleman's starting job.

Moore, also oft-injured as a senior at Missouri, didn't make it to November before going on injured reserve. Meanwhile, Erik Coleman and Thomas DeCoud settled in as Atlanta's uncontested starting safeties. Moore will have to excel in kickoff and punt coverage to have a consistent role this season.
