Fri May 30 201422:02Alex Rios goes hitless in loss to Nationals
Alex Rios had a rough night at the plate in Friday's loss to the Nationals, going 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts
Rios also left five men stranded on the evening. Even with the rough night, he still owns a terrific .319/.349/.477 slash line on the season to go along with three homers, 29 RBI and 10 stolen bases. He remains one of the true five-category contributors in fantasy leagues.

Wed May 28 201423:31Rios extends his hitting streak to 11 games
Alex Rios went 1-for-4 with a single and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Twins.
Rios extended his hitting streak to 11 games, but broke his streak of seven consecutive games with two or more hits. As that would imply, Rios has been hitting very well as of late, bringing his slash line up to .329/.359/.493 with 29 RBI and 10 stolen bases on the season. The 33-year-old isn't showing any signs of slowing down yet.

Tue May 27 201423:04Rios has three more hits in loss to Twins
Alex Rios continued to tear the cover off the ball Tuesday, collecting three more hits and scoring a run in a loss to the Twins.
Rios fell a home run shy of the cycle, knocking his 13th double and sixth -- sixth! -- triple of the season. The three-hit day was his seventh straight multi-hit performance, a ridiculous accomplishment that's got his average up to .330. Rios also scored a run in the game.

Tue May 13 201400:09Alex Rios fans four times
Alex Rios wore the Golden Sombrero on Monday, striking out in all four of his at-bats against the Astros.
Rios had twice fanned five times in a game -- the so-called Platinum Sombrero -- but he had never stopped at four until tonight. He's still batting .307 after this one, so no worries here.

Sun May 11 201420:10Rios has two hits, steals two bases vs. BoSox
Alex Rios went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox.
Rios' two stolen bases gave him seven on the year. Much of the Rangers offense has struggled this season, but Rios has been a bright spot. The 33-year-old is batting .315/.354/.459 with 20 RBI and 15 runs scored on the year.

Thu May 8 201423:17Rios' two hits, two walks pace Rangers in win
Alex Rios went 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, and a run scored in Thursday's win over the Rockies.
Rios was the only Ranger with a consistent beat on what Rockies hurlers Franklin Morales and Tommy Kahnle were throwing, reaching base in all four of his plate appearances. Rios, 33, has been quite productive at the dish, slashing .311/.356/.452 with 17 RBI and five stolen bases.

Sat May 3 201401:35Alex Rios hits two-run homer in win
Alex Rios went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run homer against the Angels on Friday.
Rios is hitting .327, but since he's batting fifth, instead of third like last year, he hasn't been such a great fantasy outfielder. Right now, he has 12 runs scored and 14 RBI in 29 games. That's not bad, but those aren't the totals one would like to see from a guy hitting .327.

Sun Apr 27 201421:15Rios scores twice in loss against Mariners
Alex Rios went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in a loss to the Mariners on Sunday.
Rios singled and scored in the second inning and again in the fourth. He's got hits in 12 of his last 13 games, and the outfielder's season line is up to .330/.364/.450. He's hit just one home run, but Rios has stolen five bases and scored 11 runs in doing a bit of everything for the Rangers' offense.

Fri Apr 11 201411:33Rangers have 'encouraged' Alex Rios to run
Rangers baserunning instructor Gary Pettis said Thursday that the club has "encouraged" Alex Rios to run more.
"We've encouraged him to run," said Pettis. "He's always been a very good baserunner. It's one of many things he does very well." Rios surprised with 42 stolen bases last season and has swiped 18 bags in 19 attempts since joining the Rangers last August. He's picked up a pair of thefts this year (without being caught) even though he's had just seven opportunities to run. While Rios still seems likely to fall short of last year's stolen base total, he might not come up as shy as most have assumed.

Tue Apr 8 201421:55Rios stays hot with two hits against Red Sox
Alex Rios added two more hits over five at-bats, helping the Rangers defeat the Red Sox 10-7 on Tuesday.
Both hits were singles and he scored a run in the process. Rios has been seeing the ball well, batting .387 through eight games. If the Rangers are fortunate, Rios will return to the 20-homer club while continuing to swipe bases at a high frequency. The 33-year-old swiped 42 of them last season.

Mon Mar 31 201418:23Alex Rios homers, scores three times
Alex Rios went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer off Cliff Lee in Monday's loss.
Rios figured to score fewer runs this year now that he's batting fifth, rather than third, especially since the Rangers have lost two of their better hitters in the bottom half of the order (Jurickson Profar and Geovany Soto). So, of course, he scored three times today.

Wed Mar 12 201414:08Rios (oblique), Soto (foot) could return Sat.
Alex Rios (oblique) and Geovany Soto (foot) are both candidates to return to the Rangers' lineup on Saturday, according to skipper Ron Washington.
Rios has been shelved since early this month with his oblique injury. Usually an ailment that costs players 15 days during the regular season, it's nice to see Rios progressing in this manner. Soto, meanwhile, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left foot in late February. He's been shooting to return on Saturday since last weekend.

Sat Mar 8 201411:44Rios (oblique) remains sidelined on Saturday
Alex Rios will miss his fifth consecutive game on Saturday due to a strained oblique.
Rangers assistant general manager Thad Levine said Saturday that the team is simply playing it cautiously with Rios, and that if it were the regular season he would likely be playing. Still, it's a situation that's worth monitoring as oblique strains can tend to linger and reoccur throughout the season.

Thu Mar 6 201413:16Alex Rios day-to-day with mild oblique strain
Alex Rios is day-to-day with a mild right oblique strain.
An oblique strain during the regular season usually means a 15-day disabled list stint, so Rios may be shut down for a week or more in Rangers camp. But he should still have ample time to get properly tuned up for Opening Day. Rios, 32, finished the 2013 campaign with 18 home runs, 81 RBI, and 42 stolen bases. He carries massive fantasy potential into 2014.

Mon Mar 3 201419:05Rios logs two hits in two AB's vs. Indians
Alex Rios went 2-for-2 with a run scored Monday against the Indians.
Rios, who was bothered by a sore toe in February, singled twice. He joined the Rangers in August last season in a trade with the White Sox. At the age of 32, he finished with a career-high 42 stolen bases, showing that he clearly has plenty left in the tank.

Mon Feb 24 201410:51Alex Rios (toe) cleared to resume activities
Alex Rios (toe) was cleared in Rangers camp Monday to resume all baseball activities.
Rios took three days off to heal a sore left big toe. It was never a serious concern for the Rangers or the 33-year-old outfielder, who finished with 18 home runs, 81 RBI, 42 stolen bases, and 83 runs scored in 2013.

Sat Feb 22 201419:02Rios held out of workouts with sore big toe
Alex Rios is still being held out of workouts due to a sore left big toe.
Rios has been dealing with the injury for a few days now, but it's not something deemed serious. The outfielder will need a healthy wheel if he hopes for a repeat of his 42-stolen base season in 2013. The enigmatic 33-year-old has the potential to be a fantasy monster this year with a full season of games in the Rangers' lineup.

Alex Rios drove in two runs, scored two runs, and stole two bases Friday in a 5-3 win over the Angels.
Rios had the go-ahead hit in the seventh inning with an RBI single off Juan Gutierrez. The 32-year-old is batting .280 with six home runs, 24 RBI, 16 stolen bases, and 25 runs scored over 44 games since coming over from the White Sox. The Rangers are one game back of the Rays and Indians for a Wild Card spot with two games left in the season.

Mon Sep 23 201322:57Alex Rios hits for cycle against Astros
Alex Rios became the third player to hit for the cycle this year Monday in the rout of the Astros.
Rios joined Mike Trout and Houston's Brandon Barnes as the only players with cycles last year. The Rangers just had one from Adrian Beltre last August. Rios got his in a mere six innings tonight, and he ended up leaving prior to his fifth at-bat. He's hitting .288 with six homers in 160 at-bats since being acquired from the White Sox last month.

Sat Sep 14 201300:10Alex Rios ejected for arguing close call
Alex Rios was ejected from Friday's game against the A's in the eighth inning for arguing a close call at third base.
Replays showed that Rios had every right to be upset, as he appeared to slide safely into third base ahead of the throw from Yoenis Cespedes on Adrian Beltre's single. It's a tough break for the Rangers who scored six runs in the frame to pull to within one.
