Tue Sep 24 201308:09Report: Amendola is 'progressing very well'
A source tells the Boston Globe that Danny Amendola (groin) is "progressing very well."
There's still no word on Amendola's status for Week 4 or any kind of timetable. But a Yahoo report from over the weekend said it's actually a good thing that Amendola completely tore the adductor longus tendon in his groin because it eliminated the need for surgery and sped up his recovery timeline. The report said he has a shot to play Week 4 against the Falcons. We could be looking at a game-time call for Sunday Night Football.

Thu Sep 19 201316:30Danny Amendola still 'limited' on Thursday
Danny Amendola (groin) remained "limited" in Thursday's practice.
It's typical Patriots injury report farce. Amendola will be out for Week 3.

Wed Sep 18 201316:21Amendola limited in practice Wednesday
Danny Amendola (groin) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday.
Amendola has been working in individual drills this week but is "clearly still in pain" and isn't "moving well at all." He's not going to play this week against Tampa Bay. Julian Edelman will continue to fill in and see lots of targets.

Wed Sep 18 201311:01Danny Amendola still clearly in pain
Danny Amendola (groin) was participating some in Wednesday's workout but is "clearly still in pain."
For some reason, Amendola is hobbling around with his teammates as he tries to work through his groin issues. He's still expected to miss at least two more weeks. Julian Edelman will be a target monster once again in Week 3, especially with Rob Gronkowski (back) looking questionable at best.

Mon Sep 16 201315:22Danny Amendola moving 'gingerly' thru drills
Danny Amendola (groin) was present for the start of Patriots practice Monday, but "wasn't moving well at all."
Per ESPN Boston's Field Yates, Amendola worked "gingerly" through drills and it was "apparent" his groin injury is affecting him. Still, we take it as positive news Amendola was practicing at all because there was never an expectation he'd play in Week 3 against the Bucs. If Amendola can avoid a sports hernia surgery, there's still a chance he only misses two games (including Week 2).

Fri Sep 13 201313:25Danny Amendola without a timetable for return
A source with knowledge of the situation tells Profootballtalk the timetable for Danny Amendola (groin) is "impossible" to know just five days removed from the injury.
Meanwhile, ESPN's Adam Schefter stated the following on SportsCenter Friday: "One person who knows (Amendola) says it's a week-to-week kind of thing." The Pats are "hopeful" Amendola will be back to face the Buccaneers in Week 3, but glass-half-empty reports have Amendola missing as many as six weeks. We'll just have to wait and see. Julian Edelman will continue to see heavy targets.

Thu Sep 12 201318:39Report: Danny Amendola could miss 2-6 weeks
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Danny Amendola (groin) could be sidelined 2-6 weeks.
It's a humorously broad timeline, and indicative of how little we truly know about Patriots injury situations. Nevertheless, Amendola now appears extremely unlikely to suit up for Week 3, locking in fellow injury-prone wideout Julian Edelman as Tom Brady's presumptive top target for the time being. This was the risk when the Patriots let Wes Welker walk in favor of Amendola. Welker has missed just three games since 2004. Amendola will have missed 21 of his past 34 contests once he's officially deactivated Thursday.

Thu Sep 12 201315:04Amendola not expected to play versus Jets
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Danny Amendola (groin) and Rob Gronkowski (back) are not expected to play Thursday evening.
Even Schefter admits he's stating the obvious, but this being the Patriots, we won't know Amendola's official status until inactives are announced. Even were Amendola to be a shock "active," he'd be on a snap count, and an extremely risky fantasy option. For now, Amendola is 50-50, at best, for Week 3.

Thu Sep 12 201309:42Danny Amendola could be out until Week 4?
ESPN Boston "wouldn't be surprised" if Danny Amendola (groin) is out until Week 4.
The speculation comes from ace Patriots reporter Mike Reiss. It's not a report and it doesn't cite a team source, but Reiss is as plugged into the Pats as anyone. Amendola isn't going to play in Thursday night's game against the Jets and even the long week ahead of Week 3 might not be enough. They face the Falcons on Sunday Night Football in Week 4. Meanwhile, Julian Edelman will play the slot role and projects to lead the Patriots in targets.

Wed Sep 11 201316:08Amendola, Gronkowski both officially doubtful
Danny Amendola (groin) and Rob Gronkowski (back) are both listed as doubtful for Thursday night's game against the Jets.
Don't expect either to play. Both players got in limited practices this week, but look for the Patriots to sit Amendola and Gronkowski out to give them ten days to get ready for Week 3 against the Bucs. Julian Edelman will man the slot Thursday night. He's a strong WR2 candidate after posting two touchdowns in the opener. Tom Brady trusts Edelman, and the coaching staff loves him.

Tue Sep 10 201317:05Danny Amendola officially 'limited' Tuesday
Danny Amendola was officially "limited" in Tuesday's practice.
That's despite the fact that he wasn't spotted at the Patriots' walkthrough. Looking like a game-time decision, at best, for Thursday's showdown with the Jets, Amendola's status is murky beyond Week 2. Julian Edelman, who scored two touchdowns against the Bills Sunday, will man the slot if Amendola can't go.

Tue Sep 10 201313:47Report: Amendola doubtful beyond Week 2
A source tells the Boston Herald's Karen Guregian that Danny Amendola's (groin) status is doubtful beyond Week 2.
All signs suggest Amendola will miss Thursday's game against the Jets, but this is the first we've heard that the 10 days he'll have to heal up for Week 3 might not be enough. The Pats are hosting the Bucs in Week 3, and traveling to Atlanta Week 4. The Pats saw the difference Amendola can make on the field in Sunday's win over the Bills, but are getting the bad with the good quicker than they likely anticipated. Amendola has missed 20 of his past 33 games.

Tue Sep 10 201313:14Werder: Amendola unlikely to play vs. Jets
ESPN's Ed Werder confirms Danny Amendola (groin) is unlikely to suit up for Thursday night's game against the Jets, but that the Pats have yet to rule him out.
Amendola played through a "doubtful" tag for the Rams last season, but also sat out through some "questionable" ones. More than likely, he's not going to play, but this being the Patriots, we might not get an official answer until game time. Owners need to have a contingency plan ready.

Tue Sep 10 201311:39Amendola (groin) expected to miss Week 2
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Danny Amendola (groin) is "almost certain" to miss Thursday night's game against the Jets.
Amendola wasn't spotted at Tuesday morning's walkthrough and is expected to be held out of Week 2 with the Patriots playing on just four days rest. With Amendola out, Julian Edelman will replace him in the slot and is a high-end WR2 against Jets. Kenbrell Thompkins should also continue to see plenty of targets. It's a massive downgrade to New England's offense, who will already be with out Shane Vereen (wrist). Zach Sudfeld is dealing with a hamstring injury and was limited in Monday's practice.

Mon Sep 9 201317:20Danny Amendola officially 'limited' Monday
Danny Amendola (groin) was limited in Monday's practice.
It's just an approximation since the Patriots didn't actually practice ahead of their Thursday night showdown with the Jets, but it's still good news. More than likely, Amendola won't take a single practice rep this week, but the fact that he played through the injury in Sunday's game is a very good sign. Amendola could end up a game-time decision, but he'll be a must start if he gets the green light.

Mon Sep 9 201309:03Danny Amendola played just 59 snaps
Danny Amendola played on just 59-of-94 offensive snaps in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Bills.
Amendola aggravated his groin injury in the second quarter and missed a big chunk of plays. But after getting stretched out and treated by trainers, he returned to the field as Tom Brady's go-to guy. The new Patriot finished with a gutty 10 catches for 104 yards. If he can sustain health for 70+ plays per week, the upside is limitless.
