Tue Dec 4 201221:42Suggs 'still waiting' on final diagnosis
A source with knowledge of the situation tells Profootballtalk.com Terrell Suggs (torn biceps) is "still waiting" on word if he'll be able to play again this season.
Per the source, Suggs is waiting on "specific input and advice from physicians regarding whether he can play with the injury or whether he needs surgery." Word should come some time in the next 24 hours. Typically, players have a difficult time playing through torn upper-arm muscles.

Mon Dec 3 201221:24Suggs has torn biceps; getting second opinion
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Terrell Suggs' "upper arm injury" is a torn biceps.
Schefter adds that Suggs is expected to miss some time, but it is not believed to be a season-ending injury at this point. Suggs tweeted on Monday that he is going to get a second opinion on the injury, so we should know more by Tuesday or Wednesday. For what it's worth, Dolphins LB Karlos Dansby is currently playing through a torn biceps, so that's the good news. The severity of the tear will determine how much time Suggs misses.

Mon Dec 3 201216:22Terrell Suggs has 'upper arm injury'
Ravens DE/OLB Terrell Suggs has been diagnosed with an "upper arm injury," but has yet to be ruled out for Week 14.
Coach John Harbaugh expects to know Suggs' status by Tuesday or Wednesday. Most signs point toward Suggs being more day-to-day than week-to-week, but considering his importance to the Ravens' injury-ravaged defense, it would be far from surprising if they played it safe and held him out against the Redskins.

Sun Dec 2 201222:52Terrell Suggs may have biceps injury
The Baltimore Sun suspects Ravens DE/OLB Terrell Suggs' Week 13 arm injury was to his right biceps.
"No immediate word on Terrell Suggs," is all coach John Harbaugh would tell the media afterwards. Suggs was "careful" with his arm in the locker room following Sunday's loss, but his arm wasn't in a sling. "I'll be alright," Suggs assured. Expect the Ravens to provide some sort of update early this week.

Sun Dec 2 201219:26Terrell Suggs leaves game with arm injury
Terrell Suggs was forced from Baltimore's Week 13 game against the Steelers with a right arm injury.
Suggs walked off the field clutching his right arm late in the fourth quarter, and headed to the locker room soon after. He was absent for the final defensive series of Baltimore's loss. Either a break or torn muscle would be season ending, though there's to be an indication his injury is overly serious. Suggs' status will be updated no later than Monday.

Mon Nov 19 201201:20Suggs returned early due to new surgery
Terrell Suggs' May Achilles surgery involved a new procedure, cutting across his leg rather than cutting straight up and down.
The new surgery is supposed to lead to a quicker recovery, and Suggs made it back on the field in an amazing five months. It could help other players in the future. Once a death sentence for NFL players, Achilles surgery has come a long way in the past decade. Suggs, Demaryius Thomas (on pace for a 91/1,506/8 line), and Mikel Leshoure have all made successful recoveries.

Wed Nov 7 201208:56Terrell Suggs' workload continues to rise
Terrell Suggs played on 54-of-70 defensive snaps in the Ravens' Week 9 win over the Browns.
Suggs continues to show impressive progress in his recovery. In the two games since he's been back, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year has eight tackles, one sack and one pass breakup. With his snap count on the rise, those numbers can only go up.

Sun Oct 21 201222:57Terrell Suggs plays more than 50% of snaps
Ravens DE/OLB Terrell Suggs played more than half of Baltimore's defensive snaps in his Week 7 return from an Achilles' injury.
Suggs, just as promised, came back quicker than anyone anticipated and had an impact on the game, despite Baltimore's 43-13 blowout loss. He contributed four tackles, two quarterback hits, a pass breakup, and an eight-yard sack of Matt Schaub. Suggs is still reportedly "well below" his usual playing weight of 260 pounds and struggled with stamina, but emerged from the 2012 debut unscathed.

Sun Oct 21 201211:30Terrell Suggs (Achilles) active for Week 7
Terrell Suggs (Achilles) is active for Week 7 against the Texans.
It's the absolute best-case scenario for the Ravens, who couldn't have been sure Suggs would play at all this season, let alone when first active. However, the move does smack of rushing, and though Suggs' presence will be badly needed as Baltimore adjusts to life without Ray Lewis and Lardarius Webb, Suggs' snaps will almost certainly be extremely limited. He's gotten in just three official practices since tearing his Achilles' tendon in May. Typically, players miss upwards of a year with the serious injury. Inactive for the Ravens are CB Asa Jackson, TE Billy Bajema, OL Jah Reid, OL Ramon Harewood, NT Ma'ake Kemoeatu, WR/KR Deonte Thompson and RB Bobby Rainey.

Sun Oct 21 201207:51Suggs unsure if he'll play Sunday in Houston
Terrell Suggs (Achilles) is unsure if he'll play on Sunday in Houston, despite his activation off the PUP on Saturday.
Suggs says he won't know if he's playing or not until about 90 minutes before game time, and he shot down ESPN reports that he definitely was going to play. The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year has only put in three practices this year, and there's no real way that he's in game shape. The Baltimore Sun believes the Ravens should and will hold him out through the team's Week 8 bye. They kickoff with the Texans at 1:00PM ET, so we should know Suggs' status in a matter of hours.

Thu Oct 18 201211:05Report: Ravens not expecting Suggs this week
Updating a previous item, the NFL Network and the Baltimore Sun are reporting that the Ravens are not expecting OLB Terrell Suggs (Achilles') to return this week.
Ultra-reliable Adam Schefter's earlier reporting is being called into question. It sounds like Suggs expects and wants to play, but the Ravens intend to hold the reigning Defensive Player of the Year out. That would make sense considering the bye looms in Week 8 and Suggs is just six months removed from an Achilles' tendon tear. "He's not playing. I'd be shocked if he plays," a source told the Sun.

Wed Oct 17 201211:27Terrell Suggs comes off PUP list Wednesday
Ravens activated OLB Terrell Suggs (Achilles') from the reserve/PUP list.
As expected. Suggs will start off with some very light work and is reportedly targeting a mid-November return. The Ravens have three weeks to promote him to the active roster. The addition of Suggs -- even in a limited capacity -- would be a major boost to a defense that has lost Lardarius Webb and Ray Lewis for the season. Suggs has been among the most disruptive defenders in the league with 25 sacks, 138 tackles, nine forced fumbles, two interceptions and eight pass breakups over the last two years.

Tue Oct 16 201211:25Ravens will activate Suggs from PUP this week
The Ravens will activate OLB Terrell Suggs (Achilles') from the reserve/PUP list this week.
This doesn't mean that Suggs is returning to the field anytime soon. The 2011 Defensive Player of the Year will start off with some very limited practice and the Ravens will monitor how his heel responds. "It's going to take time," a source told the Baltimore Sun. "There's no reason to do anything risky with a guy this important. You have to think about the big picture with him." The earliest Suggs will play is reportedly mid-to-late November.

Mon Oct 15 201208:24Terrell Suggs could practice this week?
According to SI's Peter King, Terrell Suggs (Achilles', PUP) will possibly return to practice this week.
All players that started the year on reserve/PUP are now eligible to resume practicing. Teams will have a three-week window to determine whether to active them. Previous reports have the Ravens holding Suggs out through the Week 8 bye and targeting a Week 9 return for him. They're suddenly desperate for playmakers on defense after losing top CB Lardarius Webb (ACL) and MLB Ray Lewis (triceps) on Sunday.

Sun Oct 7 201210:50Mort: Suggs expected to return for Week 9
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on Sunday NFL Countdown that Terrell Suggs' (Achilles', PUP) most realistic return date is Week 9 against the Browns.

Fri Sep 28 201216:43Harbaugh: Terrell Suggs will play this season
Ravens coach John Harbaugh told the media Friday that Terrell Suggs remains on track to play this season despite an offseason "partial" Achilles' tear.
"He has his target date," Harbaugh said, without specifying. "He is doing well. The main thing we want to do now is make sure there is no setback, and he continues to get in shape and continues to get stronger." Added Harbaugh, "(Suggs) has been in every meeting. He is up to date with the football." Suggs is eligible to return as soon as Week 7, although we suspect Week 9 -- Baltimore's first November game after a Week 8 bye -- could be a bit more realistic. The Ravens' pass rush has been ordinary without Suggs in the lineup the first four games.

Mon Aug 27 201210:03Terrell Suggs lands on reserve/PUP
Ravens placed RE/OLB Terrell Suggs (Achilles' surgery) on reserve/PUP.
Suggs is now ineligible to play in the first six games of the season. He remains confident that he'll be able to help the Ravens as a situational pass rusher at some point late in the year, but it's a longshot. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year underwent surgery roughly three months ago.

Tue Jul 24 201207:10Terrell Suggs placed on NFI list to open camp
Ravens RE/OLB Terrell Suggs (Achilles' surgery) was placed on the non-football injury list to open training camp.
The NFI works just like PUP, and staying on the list into the season will make Suggs ineligible for the first six games. He does hope to return in late November or December as a situational pass rusher. In the meantime, the Ravens will scuffle to replace last season's NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
