Buchanan (6-8) took the loss on Friday against the Athletics as he gave up three runs on six hits over 6.2 innings pitched, while striking out six hitters.
It looks like Buchanan may have secured a rotation spot for the 2015 season with the way he has pitched this year, even though he didn't have his best stuff in Friday's quality start. Buchanan does leave something to be desired with a less-than-stellar 2.22 K/BB rate.

Buchanan went 6.1 strong innings Sunday, allowing five hits and one earned run against the Marlins.
Buchanan has been a solid piece of the Phillies' rotation, recording a 3.75 ERA and 1.28 WHIP through 18 starts (105.2 innings) this season. He's allowed two or fewer earned runs in six consecutive outings. The right-hander next takes the bump Friday in Oakland.

Buchanan allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits over six innings against the Pirates on Tuesday. He struck out five and walked three.

Buchanan didn't factor in the decision but certainly didn't pitch well either, requiring 87 pitches to get through four frames.

Buchanan pitched well against the Mets on Friday night allowing one run on four hits, walking one and striking out three over six innings, but came away with a no-decision in a game the Phillies would eventually lose 4-1.
He left after six innings, having tossed 64 pitches (42 for strikes), so it was a strong, albeit short outing. He'll hope for a little more run support when he faces the Braves in Atlanta next time out.

Buchanan lasted five innings Saturday, allowing two earned runs on eight hits while walking two and not striking out a single batter in a no-decision against the Cardinals.
Despite the absence of strikeouts, the righty was able to induce 10 ground balls and two double plays, keeping the Phillies in it against one of the league's better offenses. The rookie's ERA now sits at 4.21 to go along with a 1.32 WHIP and 21:53 BB:K through 14 starts this season -- numbers he'll look to improve upon in his next start Friday against the Mets.

Buchanan allowed two runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out four in 6.2 innings in the Phillies' 5-2 loss to the Giants on Sunday.
Buchana pitched another quality game, but could not get run support to back it up. He hasn't allowed more than three runs in a start since June 8. He also has gone at least six innings in every outing since the start of July.

Buchanan lost Monday against the Mets as he pitched six innings and allowed three runs, four hits and one walk to go along with five strikeouts.
Buchanan has posted back-to-back quality starts since returning to the rotation when Cliff Lee (elbow) went to the disabled list. He showed some promise in earlier starts this season and will likely remain in the starting rotation for the rest of the season.

Buchanan (6-5) allowed three runs on nine hits while striking out five over 6.1 innings to pick up the win against the Astros on Wednesday.
Buchanan was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take Cliff Lee's (elbow) place in the rotation. He was making his first start with the big club since July 10. The 25-year-old has compiled a 4.39 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and a 44:17 K:BB over 65.2 innings this season. He'll face the Mets in his next start.

Buchanan will be recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to start Wednesday's game versus the Astros, Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
After posting a 5-5 record with a 4.40 ERA and 1.28 WHIP across 10 starts for the Phillies from late-May through early-July, Buchanan will make his back to the big leagues now that Cliff Lee (elbow) is likely to miss the rest of the season. The rookie right-hander has a chance to remain in the Philadelphia rotation for the rest of the campaign and possibly into 2015.

Manager Ryne Sandberg said Buchanan is "a pretty good candidate" to take Cliff Lee's rotation spot, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. "That has yet to be totally determined, but he is a pretty good candidate there," Sandberg said. "He pitched well [Thursday], and he is right on schedule now."
Buchanan allowed one run over 7.1 innings Thursday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He has a 3.86 ERA and a 15:4 K:BB ratio in 16.1 innings since he was optioned to the minors earlier this month. He will have a chance to finish the year in the majors with Lee expected to miss the rest of the season with an elbow injury.

With Cliff Lee exiting Thursday's game due to an apparent elbow injury, Buchanan may be called up to start Wednesday's game against the Astros, Greg Joyce of the Express-Times reports.
Lee's injury sounds fairly serious, so the Phillies will likely be looking for a replacement in the rotation. Buchanan, who is pitching for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday, is lined up on the same day as the veteran lefty. In 10 starts for the Phillies this season, Buchanan owns a 4.40 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 39:17 K:BB over 59.1 innings. He'd be a viable streaming option in deeper leagues against the strikeout-prone Astros, but is a candidate to be lit up in any given start.

Phillies optioned RHP David Buchanan to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Cliff Lee (elbow) will be ready to rejoin the rotation after the All-Star break, so Buchanan's time in the Phillies' rotation is over. He put up a 4.40 ERA but did go out with a bang, tossing seven innings of one-run ball Thursday.

Thu Jul 10 201417:47David Buchanan earns win over Brewers
David Buchanan limited the Brewers to one run over seven innings Thursday in the Phillies' 9-1 victory.
The Brewers were up 1-0 when Buchanan's afternoon came to an end, but they ended up scoring seven times in the top of the eighth and twice more in the ninth to make it look like a laugher. Buchanan moved to 5-5 with a 4.40 ERA. He's done a better job than expected of keeping the Phillies in games, but we'd still have a hard time trusting him in NL-only leagues.

Now with a 4.86 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and a 31/15 K/BB ratio, Buchanan will look to get back into the win column in his next start against the Pirates on the road.

The right-hander will take his 4.79 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 27/10 K/BB ratio into a home start against the Braves next.

Thu Jun 19 201423:14Buchanan dominates the Cards over 7 2/3 IP
David Buchanan improved to 3-3, allowing one run over 7 2/3 innings in Thursday's win over the Cardinals.
It was the best outing of Buchanan's young career, just six starts old. The right-hander held the opposition to four hits and a walk while striking out four. He yielded his first run as he tried to navigate his way out of the eighth inning, but was pulled after Matt Carpenter laced an RBI single to right field. Buchanan will take a 4.95 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP, and a 25/6 K/BB ratio into next week's home start against the Marlins.

Sun Jun 8 201416:01Buchanan allows four runs in loss to Reds
David Buchanan allowed four runs on six hits over six innings in a loss to the Reds on Sunday.
The good news is that it was his most effective outing since earning the win in his first career start. The bad news is it still wasn't good enough to earn his second career win. Buchanan didn't walk a batter while striking out six, leaving him with a 6.08 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over four starts. He'll give it another shot Saturday against the Cubs.

Tue Jun 3 201422:01Buchanan battered around by the Nationals
David Buchanan took the loss, allowing seven runs in six innings as the Phillies lost to the Nationals 7-0 on Tuesday.
The lifeless Phillies were shut out for the sixth time since the start of May. It didn't matter how well Buchanan pitched; the Phillies weren't hitting. In his third major league start, Buchanan allowed ten hits, walked two, and struck out six. The 25-year-old will take his 6.11 ERA into his next start against the Reds on the road. He's an uninspiring option in all fantasy formats.
