David Buchanan got the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) in 6 2/3 innings as the Phillies fell to the Mets on Thursday.

In his second career start, Buchanan experienced some adversity and wasn't backed at all by the Phillies' offense. The right-hander allowed seven hits -- including a two-run home run to Chris Young -- while walking two and striking out two. Buchanan isn't the strikeout type, making him reliant on the Phillies' porous defense for success. It's not a winning strategy. Buchanan will face the Nationals on the road in his next start.
