Tue Oct 16 201201:19Dreessen reels in team-high six passes in win
Joel Dreessen caught six passes for 57 yards in Denver's Week 6 victory.
Dreessen was second on the team with seven targets, but most of his damage was done in the first half while Peyton Manning was adjusting to the San Diego defense. The catch and yards numbers were season-highs. Dreessen's not a fantasy option.

Sun Oct 7 201220:41Joel Dreessen posts 4/21/1 line in loss
Joel Dreessen caught four passes for 21 yards and a touchdown in Denver's Week 5 loss in New England.
Dreessen has now found the end zone in three consecutive games, but is averaging just 2.2 catches for 19.2 yards. He's not a viable bye week fill-in.

Sun Sep 23 201221:06Joel Dreessen posts 2/36/1 line vs. Texans
Joel Dreessen caught two passes for 36 yards and a touchdown in Denver's Week 3 loss to the Texans.
Dreessen's score was of the "fluke" variety, as he made a six-yard grab on a ball that ricocheted off Eric Decker's hands. Dreessen entered Week 3 with just three catches for 22 yards. He was out-targeted 10-5 by Jacob Tamme this afternoon, but could be a much bigger factor in the Week 4 game-plan after Tamme departed late with a lower-body injury. He'd still be little more than a desperation TE2 for fantasy purposes, however.

Sun Aug 26 201218:47Joel Dreessen catches TD from Hanie
Joel Dreessen caught two passes for 16 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's preseason game against the 49ers.
Dreessen ran as the in-line tight end while Jacob Tamme was the move tight end. He was also used in the red zone, catching a simple out from Caleb Hanie for a 5-yard score late in the second quarter. Through three preseason games, Dreessen has four catches for 43 yards with one score. He and Tamee project to cap each other's upside.

Sun Jul 22 201217:59Broncos want TEs to be like the Patriots'
The Broncos are reportedly hoping to mimic the Patriots' tight end due of Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez with Joel Dreessen and Jacob Tamme.
It's obviously a pipe dream, as Dreessen couldn't hold Gronk's jock and Tamme isn't nearly as dangerous a receiving weapon as Hernandez. The Denver Post does anticipate heavy usage of two-tight end sets, with Dreessen as the in-line tight end and Tamme on the move. Tamme is a better target in fantasy leagues.

Fri Mar 23 201210:30Joel Dreessen picking Broncos over Texans
Broncos agreed to terms with TE Joel Dreessen, formerly of the Texans.
Houston's free-agent exodus continues unabated. A fine all-around tight end, Dreessen has received high marks from Pro Football Focus for receiving and blocking the past couple of years. He's also proven capable of high-end TE2 fantasy numbers while filling in for Owen Daniels. His 2012 value depends on whether the Broncos add Dallas Clark or Jacob Tamme to the mix. Garrett Graham ascends to the No. 2 role in Houston unless a fullback is signed to free up James Casey. Second-year TE Julius Thomas may need to stay in the incubator for another year in Denver.

Thu Mar 22 201213:29Free agent TE Dreessen visiting Broncos
Free agent TE Joel Dreessen is visiting the Broncos on Thursday.
Owen Daniels' backup the past five years, Dreessen has already visited the Saints, Bengals, and Titans. The Broncos may have an advantage, as Dreessen is a native of Fort Morgan, Colorado. Denver is also interested in Jacob Tamme.

Mon Mar 19 201219:39Joel Dreessen to visit Titans on Tuesday
Free agent TE Joel Dreessen is scheduled to visit the Titans on Tuesday.
Dreessen visited the Saints on Sunday and the Bengals on Monday. The Titans visit will be his third of the free agency period. Though Tennessee has yet to release Daniel Graham, it likely would if Dreessen was added behind Jared Cook. The Titans have Craig Stevens as their primary blocking tight end.

Sun Mar 18 201222:22Joel Dreessen to visit the Bengals
Free agent TE Joel Dreessen is currently en route to Cincinnati for a visit with the Bengals.
He met with the Saints on Sunday, but left without a contract. Dreessen turns 30 before the season. He's an adept blocker and underrated receiver, and would be a solid complement to Jermaine Gresham with the Bengals. In New Orleans, Dreessen would have been a third-stringer behind Jimmy Graham and David Thomas.

Wed Mar 14 201216:41Report: TE Joel Dreessen to visit Saints
Free agent TE Joel Dreessen will reportedly visit the Saints.
The Saints are apparently looking for a No. 2 tight end after lingering concussion issues ended David Thomas' season in November. The Texans remain interested in bringing back Dreessen as well.

Wed Jan 18 201210:53Texans expected to re-sign TE Dreessen
Free agent TE Joel Dreessen is expected to re-sign with the Texans this offseason.
It's not ideal news for Owen Daniels' Dynasty owners, as Dreessen is the never-before-photographed tight end vulture. A fine insurance policy for Daniels, Dreessen always grades out well in Pro Football Focus' ratings. It's not inconceivable that another team could lure him way from Houston with a better offer.

Sun Jan 1 201220:48Joel Dreessen manages 18 yards in finale
Joel Dreessen started the Texans' Week 17 game against the Titans, but managed 18 yards on three receptions.
Owen Daniels (rest, knee) was inactive. Dreessen filled his role while James Casey led Houston in receiving. Dreessen is a fine NFL player, but he's primarily a blocker. He finishes the regular season with 353 receiving yards.

Sun Dec 26 201019:37Joel Dreessen has 33 yards on three catches
Texans TE Joel Dreessen caught three passes for 33 yards in the team's Week 16 loss to the Broncos.
The Texans used more two-tight end sets with Andre Johnson (ankle) inactive, so Dreessen played a key role over the middle. Owen Daniels was much more productive, however, and will continue to be against Jacksonville in Week 17, especially if Johnson again is unable to play.
Thu Dec 9 201016:15Joel Dreessen practicing fully this week
Joel Dreessen (ribs) is practicing fully this week.
With Owen Daniels back, Dreessen is no longer worthy of a roster spot much less a fantasy start in Week 14.

Fri Dec 3 201013:19Joel Dreessen has bruised ribs
Coach Gary Kubiak revealed Friday that TE Joel Dreessen's rib cage injury is just a bruise.
Dreessen "should be fine," according to Kubiak. The Texans have stated that Owen Daniels will "definitely" return in Week 14, so Dreessen is droppable in 12-team leagues this week.

Fri Dec 3 201008:41Dreessen comes down with rib cage injury
Texans TE Joel Dreessen is in danger of missing next week's game after taking a shot to his left rib cage Thursday night.
There's a chance that he cracked a rib or two. "It was so painful there at the end I was nauseous," Dreessen said. Owen Daniels is expected back for Week 14, so Dreessen was headed back to a reserve role against the Ravens.

Fri Dec 3 201000:37Dreessen totals 63 yards in Week 13
Joel Dreessen hauled in five passes for 63 yards against the Eagles in Week 13.
Dreessen's eight targets were second only to Andre Johnson's nine, and he had success all night working the middle of the field. Though he's averaged 55 yards over the past five games, Owen Daniels (hamstring) is expected to reclaim his starting job in Week 14 against the Ravens.
Sun Nov 28 201017:07Dreessen finds end zone again in Week 12
Joel Dreessen caught three passes for 15 yards and a touchdown against the Titans in Week 12.
Dreessen's fantasy owners can thank Arian Foster for the fill-in tight end's second score in as many weeks. Foster's 16-yard reception set up Dreessen's 1-yard touchdown to get the scoring started. Dreessen's Week 13 fantasy viability hinges on Owen Daniels' (hamstring) status.
Sun Nov 21 201016:53Dreessen tops 100 yards
Joel Dreessen caught four balls for 106 yards and a touchdown in the Week 11 loss to the Jets.
Dreessen was completely uncovered on a 43-yard score in the fourth quarter, as the Jets appeared to simply lose track of him. Other than the pretty fluky score, Dreessen hasn't done a whole lot while Owen Daniels has been out, and Daniels could be back next week. Don't raise expectations because of one good game on the statsheet.
