Texans FS Ed Reed (hip) will play and start Sunday's Week 3 game against the Ravens.
It's fitting that Reed's Texans debut comes in Baltimore against his former teammates. He practiced in full all week and is expected to play a majority of snaps, sending Shiloh Keo back to the bench. It's the first time we will have seen the 35-year-old Reed on the field since the Super Bowl.

Texans FS Ed Reed (hip) is a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Titans.
According to coach Gary Kubiak, Reed wouldn't start even if he was active, leaving Shioh Keo to play opposite SS Danieal Manning. Reed has barely practiced since signing his three-year, $15 million deal. We don't expect him to play this week.

Mon Sep 9 201309:08Ed Reed expected to be inactive Monday night
Citing multiple sources, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Texans FS Ed Reed (hip) is expected to be inactive for Monday Night Football at San Diego.
The Texans will start either Shiloh Keo or rookie D.J. Swearinger at free safety, with Danieal Manning at strong. Reed, who turns 35 on Wednesday, underwent offseason hip surgery and has been slow to recover. The Texans activated Reed from PUP, which means they expect him to contribute sometime within the first six weeks. He's just not playing in the opener.

Fri Sep 6 201314:46Kubiak: Ed Reed has 'shot' to play on MNF
Texans coach Gary Kubiak is giving FS Ed Reed (hip) a "shot" to play in Monday night's opener at San Diego.
Reed increased his practice reps from Thursday to Friday, and is shaping up as a game-time decision. Texans doctors may base the call on whether Reed plays on how he feels over the weekend. In all likelihood, the team will still err on the side of caution with its 35-year-old, $15 million free safety.

Texans FS Ed Reed (hip) is reportedly very doubtful for Monday night's game against the Chargers.

Tue Aug 27 201308:11Ed Reed getting more injections
Ed Reed was scheduled to receive more injections in his hip Monday.
The doctor that performed Reed's hip surgery is getting one more look at his patient. With the regular season just two weeks away, the future Hall of Famer still hasn't practiced. "The question is, is he going to be ready right off the get-go?" coach Gary Kubiak said. "That's something that's got to get sorted out here pretty quickly. But you've got to understand our approach. Our whole training camp has been without him, so the team's not going to panic."

Fri Aug 23 201309:27Ed Reed (hip) may soon get final clearance
The surgeon who performed Ed Reed's hip surgery is expected to take a "last look" at him in the coming days, and give Reed final clearance to return to practice.
"That's going to be the last step, then he'll be back for good and he'll start working toward hopefully getting back on the field," coach Gary Kubiak said. Just 17 days stand between the Texans and their Monday night opener. If anyone can go from not practicing to playing in just 17 days, it's Reed, but it's still a long-shot.

The Houston Chronicle's John McClain would be "stunned" if Ed Reed (hip surgery) was ready for Week 1.

Wed Aug 14 201319:57Texans owner 'not concerned' about Ed Reed
Texans owner Bob McNair says he's "not concerned" about Ed Reed's (hip surgery) status for the regular season.
It doesn't appear McNair was talking specifically about Week 1, which Reed is still very much in question for. Reed estimated last week that he's "75-80 percent." He's not going to play in the preseason.

Mon Aug 5 201311:27Ed Reed (hip) says he's at 75 or 80 percent
Texans FS Ed Reed (hip surgery) said he's currently at 75-80 percent.
Reed, who will turn 35 in September, underwent labrum surgery a little more than three months ago. He admitted that if the Texans' first game was today, he wouldn't play. But he did say that if the Super Bowl was today, he would suit up. Regardless, it's clear the Texans bought damaged goods. If Reed can play out the season hovering around this 75-80 percent mark, they should consider it a win.

Wed Jul 31 201318:04Ed Reed still can't run at 100 percent
Texans FS Ed Reed says he still feels "tightness and soreness," "constantly" in his surgically repaired hip.
"I'm not to the point where I can run 100 percent," conceded Reed. Reed has been trying to backpedal, but was recently seen "wincing" during turn-and-run drills. "I'm opening the hip up and stuff like that, but at some point it kind of grabs," he said. "I've just got to get that scar tissue out and that edema out and everything. Once that that subsides, I can have a better timeline."

Tue Jul 30 201314:20Ed Reed still 'noncommittal' on Week 1
Texans FS Ed Reed remains "noncommittal" on his Week 1 status.
"I couldn't play today, but if it was the Super Bowl I probably would," Reed said Tuesday. Reed was reportedly "wincing" during individual drills on Sunday, and sounds miles away from being game ready. It's looking highly unlikely that he's ready for the opener. Reed's injury hoodwink should have the Texans fuming behind the scenes.
