Mon Feb 4 201315:37Ed Reed a fit for the Saints?
ESPN's NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas believes the Saints should pursue free agent Ed Reed.
As Yasinskas admits, any speculation is exceptionally premature since the Saints have yet to find a replacement for deposed DC Steve Spagnuolo, but this won't be the last time Reed is connected to his hometown team. Reed was effusive in his praise of New Orleans following Sunday's Super Bowl victory. Reed is far from the perennial All Pro he was in his prime, but would provide much-needed toughness and leadership for a Saints defense that was historically bad in 2012. Reed would be a fit with swaggering coach Sean Payton.

Mon Feb 4 201313:18Peter King: Ed Reed likely done with Ravens
SI's Peter King believes Super Bowl XLVII was likely Ed Reed's last game in a Ravens uniform.
King's opinion isn't breaking news, but part of a growing consensus around the league. Although Reed sent mixed signals about his future in a Sunday interview with NFL Network, he ultimately insisted that he'll be back for a 12th NFL season in 2013. According to CBS' Jason La Canfora, "a lot of people" around the league expect Reed to reunite with coach Chuck Pagano in Indianapolis. Reed would probably have to sign an extremely team-friendly deal to stick around in Baltimore.

Mon Feb 4 201308:36Ed Reed: This is not it, I'm not done
Impending free agent Ed Reed, 34, insists he plans to play in 2013.
"This is not it. I'm not done," said Reed. "I'll reassess things the way I always do and we'll tune in and get back to you all. It's all about the moment. I'm not even thinking about this. I love this game. If I'm able to do it, I'll be doing it." It certainly sounds like Reed will be back, but he does leave the door cracked slightly for himself to walk out. CBS' Jason La Canfora said on Sunday that "a lot of people believe" Reed will sign with the Colts.

Sun Feb 3 201315:48'Lot of people believe' Reed is Indy bound?
According to CBS' Jason La Canfora, "a lot of people believe" impending free agent Ed Reed will sign with the Colts.
Reed - who doesn't even have an agent - appears set to hire proper representation and hit the open market. Although Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti isn't certain Reed will even play in 2013, he admits it might not be in Baltimore if he does. Reed would be reuniting with coach Chuck Pagano in Indianapolis, who served as Baltimore's defensive coordinator from 2008-11. Safey was a major problem area for the Colts in 2012.

Sun Feb 3 201314:46Ravens owner unsure of Ed Reed's future
Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti isn't certain Ed Reed will play in 2013.
Reed has insisted he'll return for a 12th NFL season in 2013, but Bisciotti isn't so sure. "First we have to find out where Ed's head is," Bisciotti said. "I think that win or lose Sunday, Ed needs a couple of weeks." Bisciotti also admits Reed may not be back in Baltimore if he does decide to keep playing. Reed has taken to doing his best Brett Favre impression every offseason, but it would be surprising if he decides to retire.

Reed isn't happy being linked to other teams while his current team is still playing.

Thu Jan 31 201316:36Colts, Patriots options for Ed Reed in 2013
Appearing on NFL Live, Adam Schefter mentioned the Colts and Patriots as potential landing spots for impending free agent FS Ed Reed.
The Bill Belichick love affair for Ed Reed has been exhausted by this point, but another man that has strong ties to Reed is Colts head coach Chuck Pagano. Pagano was Reed's defensive backs coach at Miami (Fla.) before the two were together again with the Ravens from 2008-11. The Colts could use an upgrade over Tom Zbikowski back deep.

Just stuff that I know, stuff that I know I've been through.'" Reed has been diagnosed with "just" three official concussions, but acknowledges he's likely suffered more. Seven months shy of his 35th birthday, Reed is expected to return for a 12th season in 2013.

Wed Jan 30 201312:54Ed Reed would love to play for Belichick
Impending free agent FS Ed Reed said he could "definitely" see himself playing for Patriots coach Bill Belichick.
The mutual respect between Reed and Belichick has been well-documented. "Yeah, oh yeah, man, I could definitely play for coach Belichick," Reed said. "He is a great coach. I'm sure he can help me to expand my football knowledge even more as a player and as a coach, so if I'm ever able to be around him, just like I was at the Pro Bowl, it's huge." Although the 34-year-old Reed is a shell of his former self, he'd still be an upgrade for the Pats' secondary.

Tue Jan 29 201309:00Ed Reed graded out below average in 2013
Pro Football Focus ranked Ed Reed 59th among 88 qualifying safeties in 2012.
Reed is certainly well into his decline phase at age 34. He missed 15 tackles and allowed 17.3 yards per catch this season, both seventh-worst among safeties. Perhaps Reed's free-agency market won't be as strong as initially thought. GM Ozzie Newsome said that if Reed ends up reversing course and retiring after the Super Bowl, there will be a place for him on the Ravens' coaching staff.

Sun Jan 27 201319:49Ed Reed expected to hit the open market
SI's Peter King stated on Sunday night's Pro Bowl pregame show that he expects free agent FS Ed Reed to hit the open market this offseason.
"I think the Ravens are going to allow him to test the free agent market," said King, before suggesting New England as a potential landing spot ala Rodney Harrison in 2003. Reed turns 35 next September, but Bill Belichick has long been an admirer and the Patriots' safety position is hardly solidified aside from Devin McCourty. It's a sensible match on paper.

Thu Jan 24 201312:36Ed Reed won't be retiring after Super Bowl
Ed Reed said that he will not retire following the Super Bowl.
Despite flirting with retirement for much of the last few offseasons, Reed now insists he won't be following Ray Lewis off into the sunset. The question is if the impending free agent will be back in Baltimore. Even though he'll be 35 in September, Reed still figures to draw significant interest around the league. Old friend Chuck Pagano, now with the Colts, could come calling.

Sun Jan 20 201310:31Reed an option for Colts, Patriots in 2013?
NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah was told by one personnel executive that he wouldn't be surprised if the Ravens let Ed Reed leave via free agency this offseason.
Jeremiah mentions the Colts and Patriots as potential landing spots for the 11-year veteran. Reed has a close relationship with Colts head coach Chuck Pagano, and they could use an upgrade in the defensive backfield. Bill Belichick has always been fond of Reed, but he'd likely have to take a discount to go to New England.

Sat Jan 12 201316:01Ed Reed nearing end of Ravens career?
Appearing on NFL Today, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported that some of Ed Reed's teammates believe that 2012 is his last season with the Ravens.
Reed, 34, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason, and La Canfora mentioned the Dolphins, Saints, and Falcons as possible landing spots. It doesn't take a whole lot of thinking to put two and two together. Reed played his college ball in Miami, is from New Orleans, and makes his offseason home in Atlanta. We'd throw the Patriots into the mix as well. Bill Belichick has always been a fan of Reed. An era may be coming to a close in Baltimore.

A guy in football, if he doesn't do that, something's wrong." Reed has threatened to walk away the past few springs. Unlike Lewis, he's still seeking is first Super Bowl ring. The NFL announced Tuesday that Ed Reed's one-game suspension has been overturned and replaced by a $50,000 fine.
Ted Cottrell, formerly an NFL defensive coordinator with four different clubs, oversaw the appeals process. Reed was originally suspended one game (including a loss of $424,000) for his third violation in three seasons of the rule prohibiting helmet-to-helmet hits against defenseless players.
