Thu Sep 25 201421:46Rodgers-Cromartie (thigh) has returned to Thursday's game
Rodgers-Cromartie (thigh) has returned to Thursday's game, The Record reports.
Rodgers-Cromartie spent a brief stint on the sideline stretching out an injured thigh, but apparently is healthy enough to re-enter Thursday's contest. Having him available is crucial for a Giants secondary that's already fairly thin due to injury.

Rodgers-Cromartie suffered a thigh injury during the second quarter of Thursday night's game against the Redskins and is listed as questionable to return, the New York Daily News reports.
Rodgers-Cromartie recorded one tackle prior to exiting Thursday's game. If he's unable to return, Trumaine McBride would assume the Giants' starting cornerback position opposite Prince Amukamara, with Zack Bowman (quadriceps) operating in the slot.
Thu Mar 27 201422:10Giants planning to use DRC as shadow corner
The Giants plan to have new CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie shadow No. 1 receivers.
DRC won't be playing "sides" in the Big Apple. "Are you the best receiver (on your) team?," coach Tom Coughlin asked rhetorically. "(DRC's) following you then. ... He's physical enough. When you watch him closely, he doesn't shy away." The G-Men paid DRC No. 1 cornerback money, and plan to utilize him like they one. They just have to hope the DRC of 2013, and not 2011-12, shows up this season.

Mon Mar 17 201419:13Rex Ryan 'pissed' Jets couldn't land a top CB
The New York Daily News reports coach Rex Ryan is "pissed" the Jets couldn't land Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie or another top cornerback in free agency after releasing Antonio Cromartie.
Ryan probably wasn't on board with releasing Cromartie in the first place. GM John Idzik may have to try and lure the 30-year-old back to New York after striking out on DRC, Walter Thurmond III, Vontae Davis, and Alterraun Verner. There aren't any desirable starting corners left in free agency that fit Ryan's press-man scheme. Idzik may look to the trade market. Two names that could potentially be available are Morris Claiborne and Johnathan Joseph.

Mon Mar 17 201416:54Giants do 5-year, $35M deal with Rodgers-Cro
Giants agreed to terms with CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on a five-year, $35 million contract.
We suspect the G-Men built protective language into the deal after DRC openly contemplated retirement during Super Bowl week. Giants GM Jerry Reese made his secondary a huge free-agency priority, re-signing Trumaine McBride and Stevie Brown, while adding Rodgers-Cromartie, Walter Thurmond III, and Quintin Demps. Still only 28 (in April), Rodgers-Cromartie was a borderline shutdown corner in Denver last season, intercepting three passes and allowing just one touchdown over the Broncos' final 14 games. He'll bookend Prince Amukamara as the Giants' starting corners. Expect Thurmond to cover the slot on passing downs. These are major upgrades to the back end of Big Blue's defense.

Sun Mar 16 201421:58Giants to give DRC physical on Monday
The Giants will give free agent Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie a physical on Monday.
Physicals are generally routine on free agent visits, but it sounds like this one could be the precursor to a signing. The Giants have aggressively revamped their secondary, landing Walter Thurmond and Quintin Demps while re-signing Trumaine McBride and Stevie Brown. DRC would be an impact cherry on top.

Sun Mar 16 201420:46Report: Rex 'badly' wants Rodgers-Cromartie
The NY Daily News' Manish Mehta reports Jets coach Rex Ryan wants to sign free agent Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie "badly."
As Mehta notes, DRC is an "ideal fit" in Ryan's scheme as a press-man cover corner who can chase opposing top receivers. Rodgers-Cromartie's passion for football has long been questioned, but Rex has a knack for getting the most out of his players. DRC would be a huge upgrade on Antonio Cromartie in New York.

Sun Mar 16 201419:55Browns 'lurking' in DRC bidding
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Browns are "lurking" in the bidding for free agent Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
In Cleveland, DRC could team with Joe Haden to give new coach Mike Pettine one of the league's most talented cornerback tandems. Rodgers-Cromartie will be in New York until Monday, where he's been meeting with the Jets and Giants. Rapoport suggested on Twitter Sunday that the holdup in talks with the Jets is whether owner Woody Johnson will be willing to pony up enough money.

Fri Mar 14 201418:18DRC will meet with Giants as well
NJ.com reports free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie will meet with the Giants the day after meeting with the Jets.
If his intention is to goad the Jets into overpaying, visiting the cross-town rival Giants the very next day is a solid ploy. DRC is the best-remaining corner on the market by some distance and should find no trouble getting paid. He turns 28 next month and is coming off a top-five level season.

Fri Mar 14 201415:41Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie meeting w/ Jets
Free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie will meet with the Jets.
It will be DRC's first-known visit of free agency. The best-remaining corner on the market by a long shot, DRC provides the kind of press coverage Jets coach Rex Ryan is looking for. DRC was Pro Football Focus' No. 5 corner in 2013. He turns 28 next month.

Thu Mar 13 201411:56Jets have had discussions with DRC
The Jets have had "general conversations" with free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
The Jets whiffed on Alterraun Verner and Vontae Davis in free agency, and GM John Idzik reportedly wanted no part of Darrelle Revis. If motivated, DRC is one of the game's top cover corners, though his market has been nonexistent since contemplating retirement during Super Bowl week. He turns 28 in April.

Tue Mar 11 201423:50Broncos end talks with CB Rodgers-Cromartie
The Broncos have ended negotiations with free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie after signing Aqib Talib.
They gave Talib a six-year, $57 million deal with an NFL cornerback record $26 million guaranteed, surpassing Brandon Carr's $25 million guarantee. Rodgers-Cromartie could shop his wares to the Patriots or Jets, who are both now corner needy. Despite a standout 2013 campaign, Rodgers-Cromartie has otherwise generated no free agent buzz since pondering retirement during Super Bowl week.

Sat Mar 1 201414:40Broncos met with Rodgers-Cromartie at Combine

Rodgers-Cromartie is the Broncos' top priority, but negotiations are still in the early stages and a deal isn't considered imminent. The sides are expected to be in regular communication over the next several weeks and could reach an agreement before free agency opens on March 11.

Mon Feb 3 201412:38Rodgers-Cromartie reiterates he wants to play
Following Sunday's Super Bowl, free agent Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie reiterated that he wants to play in 2014.
Rodgers-Cromartie made some waves early last week when he said he'd consider retirement if the Broncos won the Super Bowl. They didn't, but it would have been hard to see him hanging up the cleats regardless. DRC is 27 years old and is set to break the bank after grading out as a top-four cover corner in PFF's grades in 2013. With Chris Harris coming off an ACL tear and Champ Bailey on his last legs, the Broncos will make a hard push to bring Rodgers-Cromartie back.

Tue Jan 28 201410:52DRC: If offered long-term deal, I'll take it
Broncos RCB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie backtracked on his retirement talk by saying if he's offered a long-term contract this offseason, he'll take it.

Mon Jan 27 201413:34Rodgers-Cromartie contemplates retirement
Broncos RCB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie told reporters Monday that he'll consider retirement if Denver wins Super Bowl 48.
"I set a goal of five years. I've played six," were DRC's words. An impending free agent, Rodgers-Cromartie is coming off of a fantastic season as the Broncos' No. 1 corner, and could parlay it into a hefty contract this offseason. We expect Rodgers-Cromartie to follow the money here, but his words are something of a red flag. He'll be a risky investment on a long-term deal.

Tue Nov 26 201308:47DRC's injury not considered serious
The shoulder injury Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie sustained in Week 12 is not considered serious.
Rodgers-Cromartie banged his shoulder while trying to pick off a Hail Mary attempt from Tom Brady at the end of the first half. It sounds like the Broncos expect him to play against the Chiefs. DRC has been spectacular this season, grading out as ProFootballFocus' No. 5 overall corner.
