Mon Sep 19 201112:17Brent Celek has lower-back strain
Brent Celek suffered a lower-back strain in Sunday night's loss to the Falcons.
Celek suffered the injury on a huge hit late in the second quater, but was able to stay in the game after missing a few series to receive treatment. He should be able to give it a go Week 3. Targeted just 10 times through Philadelphia's first two games, Celek is off-the-radar as a TE1.

Sun Sep 18 201121:42Brent Celek injures leg
Brent Celek was forced from Sunday night's game against the Falcons with a leg injury.
Celek took a helmet to his quad/knee area making his second catch of the evening in the second quarter. He walked off the field under his own power, and should be able to return. For now, Clay Harbor is in at tight end for the Eagles.

Sat Sep 17 201114:43Brent Celek blocking, as expected
Brent Celek was used as a blocker on more than 50 percent of his Week 1 snaps, and was targeted just three times.
As expected, the Eagles have again made Celek a block-first tight end this season. You could do worse for a bye week or injury fill-in, but Celek shouldn't be your starting tight end in any format.

Wed Sep 7 201110:00Brent Celek's 2011 numbers unlikely to rise
Jeff McLane of the Philly Inquirer predicts that Brent Celek's 2011 statistics will be "similar" to last year's.
McLane called this his "one fantasy football tip for the season." We never bought the Celek hype either, ranking him 18th among tight ends. As the No. 5 receiving option in Philly's offense, it would be difficult to expect much more.

Sat Aug 27 201113:06Celek has minor hip injury
Brent Celek was absent from Eagles practice on Saturday with a hip injury.
The ailment has required a pain-killing injection, but is not believed to be serious. Although Celek is expected to be more involved in Philadelphia's passing game after being mostly used as a blocker last season, he won't be doing himself any favors if he ends up missing more than a handful of practices after both Jeremy Maclin and Steve Smith returned on Saturday.

Fri Aug 12 201114:41Michael Vick says Celek will be more involved
Michael Vick says he will make it a point to throw the football to Brent Celek more this season.
"I went back on some of my Atlanta film and how I used Alge [Crumpler]," said Vick. "We're going to get Brent involved this year - I think he deserves that." Celek blocked far more than usual last season, but Philly's line upgrades may allow him to run more pass routes this year. If Jeremy Maclin (illness) isn't available, the Eagles will need Celek in the passing game.

Thu Jun 16 201117:59Celek's pass-blocking snaps sky-rocketed
Brent Celek's 127 pass-blocking snaps ranked fifth among tight ends last season, according to Pro Football Focus.
It's a significant increase over Celek's breakout 2009 season, where he was asked to pass block on just 75 snaps. Michael Vick passed to tight ends at a 16.1 percent clip last season compared to 20.1 for Kevin Kolb (and 28.1 in Vick's last season with the Falcons). Even if the Eagles' revamped O-Line bounces back, Celek's fantasy ceiling is capped now that he's Vick's fourth option.

Fri May 27 201110:20Celek bulks up to work on blocking skills
Brent Celek has bulked up to 267 pounds from 250 by adding muscle "in his legs and elsewhere."
"I got to be able to block these defensive ends, man," Celek said. He intends to play this year at 260 pounds, which may help in the trenches while hurting his after-the-catch effectiveness. Now the fourth option in Michael Vick's offense, Celek is just a TE2 heading into the 2011 season.

Sun Jan 9 201120:27Celek manages just 27 yards in loss
Brent Celek managed just two receptions for 27 yards against the Packers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
Celek's heal stepped out of bounds just before hauling in a two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter. The gaffe proved costly as the Eagles were in field goal range when Michael Vick threw the game-ending interception down five points rather than three. Celek was lit up by Nick Collins with a minute left, but he has the offseason to get healthy. Celek should bounce back after a season marred by drops and a nagging wrist injury, but he's not a great bet to regain his 2009 TE1 status as the fourth option in Michael Vick's arsenal.
Sun Jan 2 201121:31Celek rests in Week 17
Brent Celek was rested in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Cowboys.
After breaking out with 971 yards and eight touchdowns in 2009, Celek struggled badly with drops and rumors of nagging injuries this year. His highly disappointing fourth season ends with just 42 catches for 511 yards and four touchdowns. Treated as an afterthought in the Eagles' explosive offense most weeks, Celek will be flying under the radar when the Eagles host the Packers in the playoffs Sunday.
Wed Dec 29 201000:29Celek sets career-high with 10 receptions
Brent Celek led the Eagles with a career-high 10 receptions for 97 yards against the Vikings in Week 16.
Celek's 12 targets were also a career-high. The Vikes pressured Vick while taking away the deep ball, forcing dumpoffs across the middle. Celek was stopped just short of the goal line on the first drive, losing a 3-yard touchdown to Clay Harbor on the next play. Celek now has 42 catches and 511 yards in a disappointing followup to last year's breakout season.
Mon Dec 13 201003:47Celek puts up an o-fer Week 14
Brent Celek was held without a catch Week 14 despite two targets.
One of the passes headed towards Celek was excellently defended, and the other was intercepted by SS Gerald Sensabaugh. After two consecutive weeks when Celek looked to be gelling with Michael Vick in the Philly passing game, he resumes his role as an unreliable TE2 with modest upside.
Tue Dec 7 201009:44Celek: injuries played a part in struggles
Brent Celek has acknowledged that injuries played a part in his early-season struggles.
Celek revealed that he suffered a hamstring injury in training camp and that, along with other bumps and bruises, carried over into the season. He said it took until after the Week 8 bye for him to feel healthy. "I was getting beat up, and I think my body was just so worn down that I just needed a little bit of time off," he said. "Maybe in the future when I have things like that, I have to be smarter about it." The tight end has hit his stride the last two weeks and could make for a sneaky play during fantasy playoffs time.

Fri Dec 3 201000:03Celek totals 55 yards in Week 13
Brent Celek hauled in four passes for 55 yards against the Texans in Week 13.
Celek set up the eventual game-winning TD with a clutch first-down catch on 3rd-and-19, rolling on his defender and stretching out his arms for the first down. The boxscore doesn't tell the full story, as Celek had two plays knocked away in the end zone and another squirt through his hands. A breakout game is still on the horizon with Michael Vick starting to target his tight end heavily in scoring position.
Sun Nov 28 201021:00Celek finally gets in the end zone
Brent Celek caught three passes for 50 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Bears.
Celek's touchdown came on a ridiculous seam pattern late in the game that Michael Vick dropped between literally four defenders. It's also worth noting that Celek's game could have been much bigger. Vick overthrew a wide open Celek near the end zone in the first quarter and then missed him on a shovel pass that would have gone for a score in the second half. We're not trusting Celek in fantasy yet, but his role grew today.
Fri Nov 26 201011:47Celek not being used as a receiving option
Brent Celek was only used as a receiving option on 34 percent of the Eagles' offensive plays last week.
Celek was used exclusively as a blocker on 27.7 percent, as a chip blocker on 6.4 percent, and sat out on 31.9 percent. His role has changed with Michael Vick at quarterback, and the Eagles are also using more three- and four-wide sets this year.

Mon Nov 22 201002:06Celek held without a catch Week 11
Eagles TE Brent Celek was held without an official catch or a target Week 11 against the Giants.
Celek had a fourth-quarter five-yard catch that was nullified thanks to a chopblock penalty, and wasn't thrown to at any other point of the night. With Michael Vick running the offense in Philly, Celek hasn't been a fantasy option. Feel free to drop the 2007 fifth-rounder if you can find other tight ends on the waiver wire with more upside.
Tue Nov 16 201001:53Celek's role diminished, no longer a factor
Brent Celek was held to just two catches for 8 yards in Monday's Week 10 win over Philadelphia, 59-28.
Celek was the only Philadelphia starter not to get an invitation to the Monday night fantasy point party. He's an afterthought in the Michael Vick offense, as he had only four targets. There was a potential 20-yard gain that LaRon Landry knocked out of Celek's hands, but little else to talk about for his night. It tough to consider him a TE1 given his role on the offense.
Fri Nov 12 201011:27Reid expects Celek's production to go up
Coach Andy Reid expects TE Brent Celek's production to increase in the second half of the season after he spent much of the first half taking on extra blocking assignments.
"I think that kind of goes in cycles," Reid said. "I'm not saying the blocking part, but just receptions, and he's going to get plenty of receptions as we go. It's what the coverages are and how people are using them, and then how we're using them."

Sun Nov 7 201020:15Celek held without a catch
Brent Celek was held without a catch in Sunday's win over the Colts.
Celek was not hurt. In fact, he had a long touchdown reception called back due to a holding call. Still, there is no sugarcoating Celek's season. He is on pace for 42 catches, 458 yards and four touchdowns. Showing no real signs of breaking out, Celek is a borderline TE1 at best.
