Sun Sep 15 201319:01Brent Celek held without a catch
Brent Celek was held without a catch in Sunday's Week 2 loss to the Chargers.
Celek saw just one target as the Eagles were successfully attacking the Chargers secondary deep down the field. He also banged up his shoulder late in the game, but only missed one snap. We'll be curious to see how much Celek blocked vs. ran pass routes. Zach Ertz operated as the "flex" tight end in special packages.

Mon Sep 9 201323:50Celek secures touchdown in Week 1 win
Brent Celek caught two passes for 56 yards and a touchdown in Philadelphia's Week 1 win over the Redskins on Monday night.
Celek was targeted three times. On his 28-yard touchdown, the Redskins' linebackers bit on a Michael Vick play-action fake. Celek slipped behind the defense and had an easy score down the left seam. He was clearly the top tight end in the offense, ahead of James Casey and rookie Zach Ertz. Celek is on the TE2 radar.

Wed Aug 28 201309:48Brent Celek's role in passing game expanding
It's reportedly "clear" that Brent Celek is "going to be a big part of the Eagles' passing game."
When Chip Kelly first came to town and started installing his offense, it looked like Celek would primarily be a blocker in a run-heavy offense. But throughout camp, the burly team leader has been involved in the passing game. During the third exhibition contest, he led the team in targets with seven en route to a 4/54/0 line. Celek's upside is capped by his lead-footed running and role as the in-line tight end, but we can't write him off the TE2 radar. He's going to be on the field a ton.

Tue May 28 201310:48Kelly sees Celek's strength as blocking
Coach Chip Kelly said Brent Celek's strength is his blocking.
Kelly isn't impressed by the 280 catches, 3,473 yards and 20 touchdowns Celek has compiled in his six-year Eagles career. "We're trying to teach him to be a composite receiver - to read coverages, to read intermediate-level routes and to do things that he hasn't done a lot of," Kelly said. With Zach Ertz and James Casey in town, Celek isn't even on the TE2 radar this season.

Fri May 17 201308:39Eagles planning to use all three tight ends
Eagles coach Chip Kelly says he plans to use each of Brent Celek, Zach Ertz and James Casey on game days.
Clay Harbor isn't mentioned because he's "temporarily" being moved to outside linebacker. There's been (justified) speculation that Ertz and Casey's additions spell curtains for Celek's time in Philly, but Kelly has hinted he wants tight ends to be a big part of his offensive attack. That wasn't the case at Oregon, but Kelly has made it clear he's not married to his college scheme. We wouldn't doubt Kelly wants to keep a good player in Celek, but he may have to make alterations to his $3.256 million salary.

Thu May 16 201308:59Eagles to carry four tight ends this season?
The Philadelphia Inquirer believes the Eagles could carry four tight ends this season.
We believe that number might end up being three. Brent Celek has taken a swift slap to the face this offseason as new coach Chip Kelly added James Casey in free agency and then used a second-round pick on Zach Ertz. Clay Harbor is also still on the roster. Celek, who is owed $3.256M this season, may have to have to show something in camp to avoid getting cut.

Wed Apr 17 201317:04Celek gushes about Chip Kelly
Eagles TE Brent Celek believes new coach Chip Kelly's play-calling methods are "going to change the league."

Thu Jan 31 201313:26Eagles expected to address the TE position
Philly Mag: Birds 24/7 Blog expects the Eagles to address the tight end position this offseason.
The Eagles obviously aren't giving up on Brent Celek, but the team's depth behind him is scant. Clay Harbor just hasn't cut it as the No. 2 tight end, and Evan Moore is a complete failure. Beat writer Tim McManus "heard" the Eagles came away "very impressed" with Rice TE Vance McDonald at the Senior Bowl. Coach Chip Kelly likes to use his tight ends.

Sun Dec 30 201219:00Brent Celek wraps up season with 43 yards
Brent Celek caught three passes for 43 yards in the Eagles' Week 17 loss to the Giants.
Celek took a major step backwards this season. Showing suspect hands and a failure to separate, he managed just 57 catches for 684 yards and one touchdown in 15 games. Even in the five games Nick Foles started and Celek played in, the tight end averaged just 3.6 catches for 34.8 yards. He'll be back in 2013 as a team leader and core piece, but there's nothing more than TE2 appeal here.

Sun Dec 23 201218:15Brent Celek returns with three catches
Brent Celek caught three passes for 39 yards in the Eagles' Week 16 loss to the Redskins.
Making his return from a concussion, Celek saw just three targets on the day. One was a red-zone screen, but he's losing underneath targets to possession receiver Jason Avant. Celek will wrap up a disappointing season against the Giants in Week 17.

Wed Dec 19 201219:21Brent Celek practicing in full this week
Brent Celek (concussion) is practicing in full this week.
As expected, he's ready to roll for Week 16. However, Celek's production has been hit-or-miss since rookie Nick Foles supplanted Michael Vick. He's not a recommended option for the fantasy finals.

Mon Dec 17 201213:00Brent Celek (concussion) practices on Monday
Brent Celek (concussion) participated in Monday's practice.
It was just an informal session after the Eagles played on Thursday Night Football, but Celek is expected to be cleared for Sunday's game against the Redskins. Celek's production has been spotty under rookie QB Nick Foles, and he won't be a recommended option for the fantasy finals.

Thu Dec 13 201219:03Celek, Vick, McCoy inactive for Week 15 TNF
Eagles declared TE Brent Celek, RB LeSean McCoy, QB Michael Vick, WR Greg Salas, OT Matt Kopa, RB Chris Polk, and FS Kurt Coleman inactive for Thursday night's game against the Bengals.
Celek, Vick, and McCoy are all battling concussions. Vick has been cleared by an independent neurologist, so he'll be back as the No. 2 quarterback next week. Celek also has a good chance of returning for Week 16. McCoy is the furthest away but not by much. Coleman has a chest injury. Jeremy Maclin (groin, probable) is active and starting.

Tue Dec 11 201212:19Brent Celek already back to baseline
Brent Celek (concussion) is already back to baseline.
Celek's concussion isn't nearly as severe as the ones sustained by teammates Michael Vick and LeSean McCoy. He won't play Thursday, but the Eagles are not expected to put him on injured reserve either. Celek has a shot to get cleared for Week 16.

Mon Dec 10 201216:08Celek (concussion) ruled out for Week 15
Brent Celek (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 15.
With the Eagles playing on Thursday Night Football, Celek had no shot of getting cleared on a short week. His absence will leave Clay Harbor as Nick Foles' primary, and currently only, tight end. Harbor caught six passes for 52 yards in Celek's absence Sunday. With 13 days to heal up, Celek will likely be ready to roll for Week 16, though the Eagles have proven conservative with their concussion policy.

Sun Dec 9 201213:22Brent Celek leaves early on with concussion
Eagles TE Brent Celek left Sunday's Week 14 game against the Steelers in the first quarter with a concussion.
On the Eagles' very first drive of the game, Celek took a shot from Bucs LB Lavonte David and was quickly taken to the locker room. The concussion diagnosis came very shortly thereafter. Celek joins Michael Vick and LeSean McCoy as Eagles' starting skill players sidelined by concussions, and neither of those two are expected back anytime soon. Clay Harbor is the only other tight end active for the Eagles Sunday.

Mon Dec 3 201200:44Brent Celek has seven-catch night
Brent Celek caught seven passes for 73 yards in Philadelphia's Week 13 loss to the Cowboys.
Celek drew a team-high eight looks from rookie QB Nick Foles, who targeted five different pass catchers at least five times. Celek has now caught at least five passes in two of Foles' three starts, but is averaging just 44.7 yards since Foles replaced Michael Vick. Celek will be an extremely low-end TE1 for the fantasy playoffs. He's on pace for 67 catches and 801 yards after posting a 62/811/5 line in 2011.

Tue Nov 27 201200:27Celek catches just two passes in MNF loss
Brent Celek caught just two passes for 19 yards versus the Panthers in Week 12.
Celek made the most of his two targets, hanging on to a 16-yarder early on after taking a huge hit. Nick Foles later set his tight end up for another monster hit on Celek's second catch. The good thing for Celek was that he didn't drop any passes. The Eagles will take on Dallas in Week 13. Celek caught just three passes for 31 yards against the Cowboys in Week 10.
